Choosing what items to sell If you haven’t attended or sold at an NCT Nearly New Sale before, it is very different from other sales, like table top sales, because all items are organized into departments including: Clothes; Toys; Books, CDs, DVDS; Nursery Items; Large Equipment; Maternity Items

How do I register to be a seller? To register to become a Nearly New Sale seller, go to xxxxxx and register your personal and banking details. If you input a UK bank account, the revenue you make from sold items will automatically be paid into your bank account. All sellers are registering to sell up to 200 items, including up to a maximum of 80 clothes items on hangers. The registration fee is £4 or £3.50 if you register in the Early Bird window. I have more than 200 items to sell and/or I have more than 80 hanging items to sell, do I have to sign up twice? You will not need to sign up twice as a seller, you will only need to sign up once then sign up for the appropriate add-ons (maximum of 2 add-ons per seller). The Seller add-ons are:

• Additional items add-on – £1 for 50 items – not including hanging items • Additional hanging items add-on – 50p for 20 hanging items

What sells well? Clean, excellent quality and correctly labelled items in all the above categories all sell really well. Clothing is best sold in season so for this sale, please only include clothing for autumn/winter. What can I sell?

Children’s clothes: Up to 80 items of seasonal clothing to hang on rails, unless you register for an additional hanger add-on – maximum of 2 per registered seller. We have age specific rails, with the maximum age being 12 years old. Sellers must provide hangers; these will not be returned to you after the sale

Getting your items ready for the sale

How do I label my items?

After selecting the items you will sell, you should fill in the downloadable labels excel spreadsheet

In the ‘Seller List’ tab, input your seller number in cell D1.

If you do not input your seller number or if you input it incorrectly, we won’t know who the seller is.

Select a category in column B

Type in all your items into column C

Type in the price in column D (making sure nothing is less than 50p and that all prices are set in increments of 50p)

Your labels will automatically generate on the Labels tab.

Check the labels before printing to ensure the description and price are showing in full.

On the Day: Drop Off, Sale, Collection of Unsold Items When do I drop off my items? Please arrive at St Leonards Sports Hall between 10am and 10.45am. Parking is available on the main school yard behind the sports hall. When you arrive, sign in and drop off your Legal Disclaimer before bringing in any items. Drop all your items to a volunteer stationed in the drop off zone. Please note that only the volunteers are responsible for putting the items on the sale floor. Please note that all bags and boxes you use to deliver your items will be stored at the side of the hall during the Nearly New Sale and can be collected at the end. Bags and boxes are left at the sellers’ risk.

When is the Sale and do I have to attend? The NCT Nearly New Sale runs between 1.15pm (1pm for NCT members) until 3pm. Sellers are not required to be present during the sale itself. Sellers just need to drop their items off in between 10am and 10.45am on the date of the sale and collect any unsold items between 4pm and 4.30pm. Sellers are welcome to attend the sale. Entry is £1 per person and the doors open at 1.15pm (1pm for NCT members) and close at 3pm. Please note, if you attend the sale and choose to wait to collect your unsold items, you will be asked to leave the hall during sorting. Alternatively, sellers are welcome to volunteer at the event. Volunteers are needed from 9.30am until approximately 4.30pm. Or alternatively you can volunteer for a half day from 12 midday to 4.30pm (see Volunteering section below for more details). When do I collect my Unsold Items? Sellers are asked to collect all their unsold items. Sellers should arrive promptly between 4pm and 4.30pm at St Leonards Sports Hall. Boxes and bags left at drop off will be available to collect in the corner of the hall. Check the floor space labelled with your seller number and check the Item Removal table for any unsold items. Items on the Items Removal table will include any items that do not match the NCT Nearly New Sale criteria, and were removed before the sale; or any items where the label has come off or is incorrectly printed / has missing information

ANY ITEMS LEFT UNCOLLECTED WILL BE GIVEN TO CHARITY AND THE TOTAL VALUE FOR THESE ITEMS

WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM THE SELLER’S COMMISSION.

When will I receive my payment for sold items?

Sellers receive 70% of the selling price of each item sold, 30% goes to the NCT charity.1 Any individual items over £40 will have a flat rate of £12 deducted regardless of price rather than the above % rate. At the time of registration, please ensure you include your bank account details. This enables the Nearly New Sale team to automatically transfer your payment minus the commission within 2 weeks of the sale. If you register and do not include your bank details, you will receive a cheque in the post, but this will likely take longer than the automatic banking payment. If you would like to update your registration details to include your bank details, you can log back into the system and add your bank details at a later date.

1 The NCT commission will be reduced to 26% and 22% for sellers volunteering for a half day and a full day respectively.

If you are unable to volunteer on the day but would like to volunteer to either assist with advertising or bringing a cake for the cake sale, please do get in touch. You can register to volunteer on the sellers’ registration site. Alternatively, email [email protected] to log your interest.
