I built some with people and I built lots of houses by myself. I used rectangle boxes and squares and flat rectangle ones, and I used flat rectangle ones to make more boxes with one on top of each other. I played outside, I went on the trampoline but it’s a circle one and it’s a big one. It’s black and yellow and white.
Alessia: I went to Byron. I saw dolphins and whales, they umm wanted to go up and down and up and down and I saw those little dolphins surfing. We saw this big rainbow, we saw them twelve days because we’ve seen them a lot of times.
Lucas: I went to the museum with my whole family and there was a rollercoaster but it didn’t have the track it was just a little thing like from here to here, it was tiny. There was the live ants in this square and we saw a hairy spider but it didn’t move because they nailed it in this other square frame.

Preparing for Our Excursion to the Theatre
Visiting the TCW and Drama Department
The children visited the TCW today which is the theatre in the senior school. We wanted to find out what you need to make a
theatre, as some of the children have discussed making a theatre in our classroom for puppets. It was also a good
opportunity for the children to recognise that we are part of a larger community here at St Leonard’s College.
The children were overhead stating…
You need lights! ….. And seats…..
The seats have numbers on them ….And letters!
…You need a stage for the people
We then walked around the drama department and looked at their costumes and drama spaces. We were lucky that the
drama studio was empty so we could utilise this space for a drama and puppetry workshop. The children learnt about how to present to an audience and learnt some puppetry techniques to
operate hand puppets.

I liked at the end where they had the big scary mouse and the li6le Gruffalo ran back and the mouse ran a9er her and she kept trying to give the s<ck back to her but she kept running away. There were lights in
the theatre that made the eyes of the mouse red and I liked how they made the shadow. -‐ Ian
I liked it when the Fox said Buffalo instead of Gruffalo because it was funny. The mouse made a big shadow with red eyes and a black body. I liked the Snake when he said Happy Birthday. There was a computer behind Miss Keir, it
made the shadow of the Big Bad Mouse. I liked looking out of the window at the cars and the trucks. -‐ Louis
