Dear members and friends of the Dundas West BIA,

In 2013 we reached a criticalmilestone by finally bringing toDundas West the party it had

for so long deserved. The 2014edition of our signature eventwas even better!

This past year we received aFloral Display award for our on-street planters from the Toronto

Association of Business Im-provement Areas (TABIA).

We also installed a new muralat 1447 Dundas Street West

(see picture to the right) and allof our custom murals werecleaned of tagging.

This year we are planningsome improvements to our

website, a few additional events andwe want to strengthen our partner-ship with the Little Portugal BIA,through collaboration on the DundasWest Fest, the sidewalk sale andother projects.

A Message from the Chair On behalf of the board

of the Dundas West BusinessImprovement Area, I hopeyou have had an excellent start to 2015 and that the rest of the year brings you and your family health and happi-ness.

2014 was an important

year for us: greater collabora-tion and friendship betweenlocal residents, our member businesses and our neighbour to the east, the Little Portugal BIA, made possible the hugesuccess that was our second Dundas West Fest.

In 2015 we will again striveto make this event even better. Wealso aim to help revitalize St Clarens parkette, start planning for the reconstruction of the Lans-downe / Dundas west intersectionand we have some community de-velopment initiatives that we hopewill further strengthen the ties be-tween businesses and residents in

our neighbourhood.

As a founding member of theboard, it is heartening to watch asthe collective vision of what Du-West can be slowly becomes real-ity. Thank you for helping to makethat happen.

portal de internet; continuar com o nosso processo de re-vitalização do parque StClarens; aprofundar a nossaparceiria com o Little PortugalBIA para organizar o nossoSidewalk Sale anual, organi-zar uma série de passeiosguidos pela Dundas, e co-laborar no Dundas West Fest.

Todos os socios têm o direitode usar o passeio em frentedas sua lojas, mas só podemusá-lo para vender produtosque vendem normalmente.Não é permitido alugar oespaço a outros. Se quiser

vender ou cozinhar comida na rua, por exemplo, só o po-dem fazer se no

vosso estabelecimento já

servem comida habitual-mente, e terão de conseguir outro permite para este diatambem.

Em 2013, alcancámos umameta importante ao organizar a festa de rua que a Dundashá muito tempo merecia.Queremos agradecer a todosos nossos sócios e aos resi-dentes e artistas locais queparticiparam e ajudaram afazer uma grande festa!

This year’s Dundas WestFest will take placeon Saturday, June 6, 2015.

Members are encouraged tohost interactive activities, cre-

ate displays or hold sidewalksales in front of their prem-ises. Please note that you canonly sell what you normallysell in your shop and you can-not rent out your space to oth-ers. If you plan on cooking or selling food outdoors youmust obtain the proper permit.

Members with liquor licenses

will also be able to obtaintemporary patio extensions.

The BIA will submit the initialpermit application but it is your responsibility to follow up toensure you can have a patio.

We need confirmation of your participation until March 1st if you want to do any of this.

Time: The street closurewill begin at 8am on Satur-day, June 6, 2015.

The festival will begin at11am and continue until

10pm. The street closurewill end at midnight.

You will be expected to setup from 8am to 11am andthen take down between10pm and midnight.

If you open only in the lateafternoon, or close early,let us know as we mayneed to place a vendor in

your area for part of theday.

Acesso de veículos: A Dundas

estará fechada a partir das 8h00 damanhã no Sabado, 6 de Junho. A ruavai permanecer fechada até as24h00.

Acesso de transportes publicos:Os transportes publicos vãocontinuar na Dufferin Street e naLansdowne Avenue comohabitualmente. Não haverá electricos(streetcars) na Dundas West.

Horário da festa: A festa começa as11h00 e continua até às 22h00.Pedimos aos participantes parainiciar preparativos depois das 8h00e para deixarem os passeios e a ruacompletamente livre e limpa antesdas 23h00.

Access: Dundas Street Westwill be closed from Lansdowne

Avenue to Ossington. Busesand streetcars will still run onOssington Avenue, Dufferin

Street and Lansdowne Avenue.Brock Avenue and Dovercourtwill also remain open. All other side streets will be blocked.

Performance Areas: There willbe several busker and festivalperformance areas; within our BIA boundaries, there will bebusker performance areas at theintersections with St. Clarens,

Margueretta, Sheridan & Glad-stone. Festival performance

areas within Dundas West BIAwill be located at 1525 DundasStreet West, 1635 Dundas StWest and elsewhere, to beconfirmed. Local artists will be

given a chance to apply to per-form at these locations.

Activities: There will also bechildren’s activities in collabo-ration with the parent councilsat area schools and other localstakeholders. Members areencouraged to forge partner-ships with local residents andto organize activities for all age

groups on the sidewalk in frontof their businesses as well.

The focus is on showcasingwhat we have to offer locally,so start talking to your neighbours now!

Just let us know by March1st so we can include thatinformation in our program of activities.

We will also need many vol-unteers to take on a varietyof roles leading up to, and onthe day of, the event.

Chúng tôi khuyến khích quí vị hôiviên tổ chức những hoạt độngmang tính tương tr ợ lẫn nhau,sáng tạo các h ình thức trưng bàyhoặc bày bán các mặt hàng trênvỉa hè ngay trước cửa tiệm củaquí vị. Xin lưu ý quí vị chỉ có thểbày bán những mặt hàng có trongcửa tiệm của m ình và quí vịkhông thể cho thuê lại mặt bằngcủa m ình.

Nếu quí vị dự đinh nấu hoặc bánthức ăn ngoài trời th ì quí vị PHẢIxin giấy phép hơp lệ. Những hộiviên có giấy phép kinh doanh biarượu có thể xin giấy phép cho patio trên đường phố.

Đường phố sẽ đóng với các phương tiện xe hơi từ 8AM và

thông xe trở lại vào giữa khuya ,cho nên quí vị phải sắp xếp gianhàng của m ình (và dọn sạch đi)trong khoảng thời gian này.
