IntroductionIn the pages of this principle of business school based assessment (SBA) you will see the
creation of my future bakery SSweet Things bakery form the start to finish. You will see in
details of the creation of the business for example the description of the business, location
and the linkages.
This will also help the person who is reading this to educate them some of the thing business
should have to be successful.

SSweet Thing bakery this company will be operation as a sole trader
Nature of the business
SSweet Thing bakery is a private company that produce baked products such as bread, cakes
and donuts to school and whole sale/supermarkets. We also transport the products to
customers. Customers can order and pay online.
Objective
To obtain as much profit as possible.
To provide excellent customer service.
Always gain new customers daily.
To produce high quality goods.
Produce quality baked products cost effectively; in an environment that is safe, clean
and friendly to our customers.
Mission statement
To produce high quality bake products that customs can enjoy on a daily bases.

Justification of location
Location of business
The business will be located at 17 King’s Way Portmore P.O St. Catherine.
The reason for selecting this area is because it’s a well-populated area that is filled with
institution and wholesales/supermarkets that will be my main customers. This area is also a
low crime and the community an easy to access (good roads). This area is also filled with
small shops and the business will still be operable during the Christmas and summer holidays
when schools are closed. This area is also near to the companies such as Spanish Grains ltd
and National Food Store that will supply us with the raw materials that we need to be in
operation. Most of our ingredients are bought from local framers in the community and
surrounding communities.

SELECTION OF APPROPRIATE LABOURThe labours that will be required are skilled and semi-skilled the company has experienced
staff all employees must have at least 2 years of training and experience. The entrepreneur is
looking to employ 16 employees to fill the available positions
Owner/operator = to services is the main priority ensure customers service is the main
priority making financial decision checking the new products hire new staff and
discard underperforming staff.
Secretary: order raw material and paper word and record the sales and purchasing and
answer all calls, collect the orders and send out emails.
Accountant; preparing all the workers’ salaries and analysing the company profit
gains and lost.
Baker; mixing, baking and decorating the products.
Janitor; cleaning the ovens, utensils that are use daily and maintain the company.
Packager; to package all products and make sure they are all properly seal and make
sure its baked properly.
Truck driver; this person will deliver the products to the many customers location in
and out of the community.
Merchandisers; putting the products on the shelves of the supermarkets and
wholesales and taking off the expired goods.

Source of fixed and capital
The capital will be obtain by a loan from the nation Commercial Bank (NCB) a sum of two
million dollars (2,000,000.00) this loan will be used to perches the property where the bakery
will be located.
Working capital are stock of material; cash, bank balances, and other items required for the
day to day operation of the business and are continually being used up to buy additional
equipment.
SSweet Things bakery capital will be obtain from personal savings, a sum of one million
dollars (1,000,000). This money will used to purchase equipment such as industrial ovens,
industrial mixers, and mixing bowls and other utensils.

Role of the entrepreneur
An entrepreneur is a person that creates and operates their own business and takes one the
risk of the business and who has the vision of how the business will proceed on the right path.
These are the functions of an entrepreneur.
1. Money management = making sure that the company gain profit and also pay the
company expensive.
2. Planning = planning the future of the business.
3. Sale or products= the entrepreneur is also responsible for marketing offered the
business offer.

Type of production
This is a bakery that produce bread, cakes and bulla’s, donuts and buns. These will be
made daily however if there is a very large order we will start to make them 1-2 days before
the day of delivery. There are no special days to bake anyone of products all are baked daily.
The company makes fresh and well make products that are well put together and made with
the best ingredients.

Levels of production SSweet Things Bakery will be engaging in the secondary level of production/domestic
market selling to schools and wholesale but also to other business like hotels and places
where they need catering service for baked products.

Quality control measuresThree quality control measures the business will adhere to
Blind test SSweat Things will do this test to make sure everyone of our products are
up to standard
Quality control; this will make sure that SSWEET things product are what we say it is
and make sure it’s not burn and not under baked, all the workers are trained to spot
out the products that are not properly made to remove it and report the mistake.
Timely productions making sure all our products are prepared on time to be delivered
to the customers.

USE OF TECHOLOGYIdentify two types of technology
Two types of technology that will be used are
Computers = the computer will have a Management Information Iystem (MIS) that will help
with the analysing of the daily operations of the business. Computer will have other programs
such as QuickBooks and other accounting programs allow the businesses to keep detailed
records. These programs track accounts payable, accounts receivable and sales. They also
will provide an easy and quick way for the business to send out invoices to customers and
handle payroll functions. Back office productivity and accuracy will increase greatly when
using this accounting program.
The internet = This will use to advertise the company on the wed on social media site such as
Facebook and Instagram also the internet will be used to Save on literature costs Providing
the information online reduces the need to print and mail product literature, thereby resulting
in significant cost reductions.
Industrial oven= they will help to bake more of the products faster with less human resource.

LinkagesState the types of linkage to be derived from the business.
The company will gain most their raw materials such as flour, baking powder and sugar from
Spanish grains wholesale which is located less than a mile from the location where the
business will be located.
Milk, eggs and cinnamon sticks and powder will be obtained from the small farmers
in the community.
Butter and other raw materials will be bought from Caribbean Distributers.
The paging materials such as plastic raps will be bought from an overseas company
called NAPCO group of companies.

Potential for growth
The company plans to grow internally by adding more staff and equipment.
The company will grow year by year from the profits that are gain, the company plan to
spread across the Caribbean over the next two (2) years opening at least one (1) branch in
each Caribbean country and introduce new flavours and products. The company plans to sell
shares as a way to growth.

Government regulations
The regulation will impacts the business positively it allows the customers to see that we
are regulated and have the permission from the government to be in operation also make the
customers trust our products and know that we are supervised by the Ministry of Health all
works are healthy and are not sick they all will have food handlers permits.
The company will be supervised be the ministry of health very often to see that the company
meets the health requirements.

Ethical issues
The business will have short term payment plan to the schools and wholesales this will help
us to help your customers to choose us over the other bakery’s this company has a lot of
different payment plans , this company also makes sure that all the staff are trained to give
the best customer service
The workers should be present and start working by 9:00am and finishes at 5:00pm this is a 8
hour shift the company plans to pay each worker between $7,000.00 to $8000.00 per week
with the acceptation of the accountant and the Secretary they will be paid from $30,000.00 to
$40,000,00 monthly. All of the workers are paid after tax.
The cake, bread and buns will be price buy their weight (pound or kilogram)
Cakes = $500 per pound
Spice Buns = $200 per pound
Breads =$100 per pound
Everything else like donuts, cupcakes, bulla’s and sugar buns will be sold in pack of 3,6,12
and 24.
Whenever a customer buys/order over 100 and over of a product they will get a 10%
discount.
