DX Fanzine No. 86 – October 2020 DX Fanzine, an electronic newsletter which was originally edited in 1999/2000, brings together tips and news as

contributed by individual DXers or ascertained from different sources. We are interested in any change in

frequencies, times, language-services, transmitters, programme contents, phone and fax-numbers, electronic

and postal address, station personnel. The purpose of DX Fanzine, which doesn’t pretend to be in competition

with any other electronic DX newsletter, is to provide timely and topical news and information to shortwave

enthusiasts worldwide. It is available on the web at www.dxfanzine.com and updated as soon as loggings, DX

news, frequency updates, as well as, QSL notes are received from any SWL around the world.

Although the primary platform for delivery of DX FANZINE information remains its web site, it is turned into a

pdf file, (where you can see the final version of it with loggings and information, just as they appear online), a

couple of days after the end of each month and sent out FREE to anyone who has subscribed. The current as well

as the previous editions of DX Fanzine (including those of years 1999/2000!) can be accessed from its home page

and are there almost indefinitely.

Welcome to this third edition of “List of private MW stations in Italy”. Unlike other lists that you can find over the Internet, this publication only lists stations currently on the air, expected to start operation very soon or temporarily off-air. Also included is information on how to contact the stations (E-mail and Web sites), QSL policies and, when known, transmitter powers and future plans. I have compiled this list by assembling information received directly from the stations and my own research. I have done my best to keep mistakes to a minimum. Feedback from DXers with corrections and/or comments on the usefulness of this publication are always welcome. Most (but not all) of Italian MW stations are modest affairs, with limited technical know-how, small budgets and few trained personnel. These factors result in a lack of definitive information that is standard in most other countries of the world. Solid data on hours of transmission, programmes, frequencies, and contacts are difficult to obtain because station practices themselves change often. Transmitters are often homemade, limited to a power output in the range of 20-100 watts and connected to very simple antennas, so reception is generally restricted to city limits. Another point to be mentioned is the fact that frequencies sometimes change, and new ones or old ones appear or reappear. Some stations, especially those unlicensed, go on the air during weekends and/or the frequencies rarely tend to be used all the day. Last but not least: most stations operate from the North of Italy (especially from the regions of Lombardia and Veneto), a few from the central part of the country (Toscana, Emilia Romagna, Umbria and Lazio) and, after the disappearance a three/four years ago of Gold 1593 located in Sicily, virtually none from the South. In compiling this list I have been helped by the ideas and information from some DXers who have monitored the frequencies used by the Italian private medium wave stations.

The details above have been updated based on my own monitoring reports (via a websdr located near Cari in

Canton Ticino, Switzerland) as well as on logs from a number of DXers, Giampiero Bernardini, Fabrizio

Magrone, and Roberto Pavanello, all of them (unlike to me) from the North of Italy that appeared recently in

various Facebook groups and/or online DX publications.

This list includes Radio Monte Rosa and Radio Jeans which are off-air since a long time. Both stations are

member of Netlit Group who has a license to operate on those (and other medium wave) frequencies. It is

expected that transmissions on both, 1305 and 1602 kHz will sooner or later resume carrying programmes

from other stations which are part of this media group. I am also aware about other stations which have

planned to start as soon as possible broadcasts on medium wave but for the time being they have been

omitted from this list.
