DxO ViewPoint 2 is the first software solution dedicated to correcting three commonly-encountered problems in photography: volume deformation, distorted perspectives, and tilted horizons. Accessible to all photographers, DxO ViewPoint 2 integrates precise and easy-to-use tools that will let you restore the natural proportions in your images quickly and effectively.

1.1. Installing and activating the softwareTo install the software, consult the installation notes included in the DxO ViewPoint 2 box. An internet connection is required.

1.2. Launching DxO ViewPoint 2

Plugin for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom

In Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, select the image you would like to modify.

Click on Photo > Edit in > DxO ViewPoint 2 in the menu bar.

A dialogue box will let you change the settings of your image as needed and choose the file format for exporting your image (TIFF or JPEG).

Click on the Edit button in the window to launch DxO ViewPoint 2.

Introduction

Plugin for Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Photoshop Elements

In Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Photoshop Elements, select the image that you would like to modify.

Click on Filter > DxO Labs > DxO ViewPoint 2 in the menu bar.

Plugin for Apple Aperture

In Apple Aperture, select the image that you want to modify.

Click on Photos > Edit with a plugin > DxO ViewPoint 2 in the menu bar.

Launch the program from the Start > Programs > DxO ViewPoint 2 menu (PC) or from the Applications > DxO ViewPoint 2 window (Mac).

All lenses are more or less affected by distortion, whether barrel (lines bending outward towards the edges of the image) or pincushion (lines bending toward the center of the image) and sometimes both at once. Thanks to the inclusion of DxO Optics Modules, DxO ViewPoint 2 lets you automatically correct the distortions of your specific lens.

DxO ViewPoint 2 optimally corrects distortion for images that come straight out of the camera without having first been modi-fied either by the camera or by third-party software.

NOTE

Step 1 - Open an image in DxO ViewPoint 2 by clicking on File > Open, or by clicking on and dragging your image into the application window.

Step 2 - In the Distortion palette, click on the Automatic button located on the left.

Correcting distorsion

Step 3 - A dialog box will tell you if the correct DxO Optics Module for your equipment has been installed, or if not, if one is available for downloading (installing a DxO Optics Module does not require restarting the application).

Step 4 - Click on OK to download the DxO Optics Module if necessary and to correct the image.

Step 5 - Save your image by clicking on File > Save As.

If your equipment isnt supported by a DxO Optics Module, you can still manually correct your image. For more information, see the complete user guide on our website at http://www.dxo.com/intl/photography/tutorials.

NOTE

6Correcting volume deformation

Volume deformation occurs frequently when using a wide-angle lens to take photos of objects, people, or groups of people. The subjects situated on the edge of the image are stretched or elongated. In our example below, we can see that the young womans arm and head are distorted, so we need to apply an appropriate correction to our image to give her a more natural and proportionate look.

Step 1 - Open an image in DxO ViewPoint 2 that has the same kind of flaw as shown in the example above by clicking on File > Open, or by clicking on your image in (or dragging your image into) the application window.

Step 2 - Activate the volume deformation correction by checking the box in the Volume deformation palette.

Step 3 - Click on the Diagonal button on the right. The correction is immediately applied and the image is automatically cropped.

Step 4 - Save your image by clicking on File > Save As.

You m ay cancel your corrections at any time by clicking on the Reset correction button located on the upper right side of the palette.

TIP

DxO ViewPoint 2 also lets you apply horizontal/vertical corrections to objects that are distorted horizontally or vertically. To do this, click on the Horizontal/Vertical button, then follow the same steps as above. You can also fine-tune your corrections by using the advanced tools in the Volume deformation palette. NOTE

8Correcting keystoning and horizons

In architectural photos, photographers often shoot a building while standing at its base or from above. In both cases the subject is distorted, with what should be parallel lines becoming increasingly skewed as they approach the edge of the image. In our example, we are at the foot of the building. This perspective lends an unseemly aspect to our composition, so we will have to straighten the convergent lines.

Step 1 - Open your image in DxO ViewPoint 2.

Step 2 - In the Perspective palette, click on the Force vertical parallel button. Two vertical lines, each with two circular anchor points, will be superimposed on your image.

Step 3 - Choose two vertical reference elements in your image. Place the mouse cursor on one of the anchor points displayed and move it to the top or bottom of your reference element. Move the second anchor point such that it lines up with your vertical element. Do the same with the second superimposed line.

You may more precisely place your anchor points by using Visualization palette, and you can adjust the zoom level for even more precision.

TIP

Step 4 - Verify your correction by clicking on the Preview button that appears in the lower toolbar. DxO ViewPoint 2 will darken the parts of the image that will be suppressed when the image is automatically cropped.

Step 5 - Click on the Apply button. The correction is immediately applied and the image is automatically cropped.

Step 6 - Save your changes by clicking on File > Save As.

You can also manually adjust the cropping of your image. To do this, click on the Crop tool in the Correction palette. Use the composition grid superimposed on your image to define the crop. You can preserve the original proportions of your image or modify them by using the Aspect ratio menu. Click on the Close button. The correction is applied and the image is cropped.

DxO ViewPoint 2 also lets you correct horizontal or even more complex perspective problems. You can also fine-tune your corrections by using the advanced settings in the Keystoning palette. Accessible tous les photographes, DxO ViewPoint 2 intgre des outils simples et prcis pour vous permettre de rtablir efficacement et rapidement les proportions naturelles de vos images.

1.1. Installer et activer le logicielPour vous guider travers les tapes dinstallation du logiciel, consultez les notes dinstallation contenues dans la bote DxO ViewPoint 2. Une connexion Internet est requise.

1.2. Lancer DxO ViewPoint 2

Module externe pour Adobe Photoshop Lightroom

Dans Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, slectionnez limage que vous souhaitez modifier.

Dans la barre des menus, cliquez sur Photo > Modifier dans > DxO ViewPoint 2.

Une fentre de dialogue vous permet de modifier au besoin les rglages de votre image et de choisir le format de votre fichier pour lexportation (TIFF ou JPEG).

Dans la fentre, cliquez sur le bouton Modifier pour lancer DxO ViewPoint 2.

Lancez le programme partir du menu Dmarrer > Programmes > DxO ViewPoint 2 (PC) ou de la fentre Applications > DxO ViewPoint 2 (Mac).

Les objectifs sont tous plus ou moins affects par de la distorsion, quelle soit en barillet (droites dformes vers les bords de limage) ou en coussinet (droites dformes vers lintrieur de limage), ou parfois les deux. DxO ViewPoint 2 vous permet de corriger automatiquement la distorsion de votre optique grce aux modules optiques DxO.

La correction de la distorsion est optimale sur des images directement issues du botier et non retouches, ni par le botier, ni par un logiciel tiers.

NOTE

Etape 1 - Ouvrez dans DxO ViewPoint 2 une image en cliquant sur Fichier > Ouvrir, ou cliquez/dposez votre image sur la fentre de lapplication.

Etape 2 - Dans la palette Distorsion, cliquez sur le bouton Automatique, situ gauche.

Corriger la distorsion

Etape 3 - Une bote de dialogue vous indique si un module optique DxO pour votre matriel est install ou, le cas chant, disponible au tlchargement (linstallation ne requiert pas de redmarrer le programme).

Etape 4 - Cliquez sur OK pour tlcharger si ncessaire le module et corriger limage.

Etape 5 - Enregistrez votre image en cliquant sur Fichier> Enregistrer sous.

Corriger la dformation de volume

La dformation de volume se manifeste frquemment lorsque lon prend des photos dobjets, de personnes ou de groupes de personnes laide dun objectif grand angle. Les sujets situs en bord ou priphrie de limage semblent tirs. Dans notre exemple, nous pouvons voir que le bras et la tte de la jeune femme sont dforms. Nous allons donc appliquer une correction approprie notre image pour lui redonner un aspect naturel.

Etape 1 - Ouvrez dans DxO ViewPoint 2 une image prsentant le mme type de dfaut que limage utilise en exemple en cliquant sur Fichier > Ouvrir, ou cliquez/dposez votre image sur la fentre de lapplication.

Etape 2 - Dans la palette Dformation de volume, cliquez sur le bouton Diagonale, situ droite. La correction sapplique immdiatement et limage est automatiquement recadre.

Etape 3 - Enregistrez votre image en cliquant sur Fichier > Enregistrer sous.

Vous pouvez tout moment annuler vos corrections en cliquant sur le bouton Rinitialiser la correction situ en haut droite dans la palette.

ASTUCE

DxO ViewPoint 2 permet galement dappliquer une correction horizontale/verticale aux objets dforms en largeur. Pour ce faire, cliquez sur le bouton Horizontale/Verticale , puis procdez aux mmes tapes. Vous pouvez galement affiner vos corrections grce aux rglages avancs de la palette Dformation de volume. NOTE

Corriger les dfauts de perspective

En architecture, le photographe est souvent oblig de cadrer en contre-plonge lorsquil se trouve au pied dun btiment, ou en plonge sil dsire prendre une photo partir dun point plus lev. Dans les deux cas, le sujet va tre dform, avec un effet de lignes fuyantes dautant plus prononc que lon se rapproche des bords de limage. Dans notre exemple, nous nous trouvons en contre-plonge par rapport au btiment. Notre image comporte des lignes de perspective verticales fuyantes qui donnent un effet disgracieux notre composition. Nous allons par consquent corriger les parallles verticales.

Etape 1 - Ouvrez votre image dans DxO ViewPoint 2.

Etape 2 - Dans la palette Perspective, cliquez sur le bouton Forcer les parallles verticales. Deux lignes verticales, comportant chacune deux points de repre en forme de cercle, apparaissent en incrustation sur votre image.

Etape 3 - Choisissez deux lments verticaux de rfrence dans votre image. Placez le pointeur de la souris sur lun des points de repre et dplacez-le sur lune des extrmits de votre lment de rfrence. Dplacez le second point de repre de manire aligner la ligne sur votre lment vertical. Procdez de mme pour la seconde ligne.

Vous pouvez positionner prcisment vos points de repre en vous aidant de la palette Visualisation. Vous pouvez galement ajuster le niveau de zoom pour encore plus de prcision.

ASTUCE

Etape 4 - Vrifiez votre correction en cliquant sur le bouton Prvisualiser qui apparat dans la barre doutils infrieure. DxO ViewPoint 2 va indiquer, en les assombrissant, les parties de limage qui seront supprimes lors du recadrage automatique.

Etape 5 - Cliquez sur le bouton Appliquer situ dans la barre doutils infrieure. La correction sapplique immdiatement et limage est automatiquement recadre.

Etape 6 - Enregistrez vos modifications en cliquant sur Fichier > Enregistrer sous.

Vous pouvez galement rgler manuellement le recadrage de votre image. Pour ce faire, cliquez sur loutil Recadrage dans la palette Correction. Dfinissez votre cadre grce la grille de composition qui apparat sur limage. Vous pouvez conserver les proportions originales de votre image ou les modifier grce au menu Ratio de limage. Cliquez sur le bouton Appliquer. La correction sapplique et limage est recadre.

DxO ViewPoint 2 permet galement de corriger les dfauts de perspective horizontale ou plus complexes. Vous pouvez galement affiner vos corrections grce aux rglages avancs de la palette Perspective. 1.1. Programm installieren und aktivieren Die Installationshinweise auf der Verpackung von DxO ViewPoint 2 werden Sie durch die Schritte zur Installation der Software fhren. Voraussetzung ist eine Verbindung zum Internet.

1.2. DxO ViewPoint 2 starten

Externes Modul fr Adobe Photoshop Lightroom

Whlen Sie in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom das Bild aus, das Sie bearbeiten mchten.

In der Menleiste klicken Sie auf Foto > Bearbeiten in > DxO ViewPoint 2.

In einem Dialogfeld knnen Sie die erforderlichen Einstellungen fr Ihr Bild ndern und whlen das Format, in das die Datei (TIFF oder JPEG) exportiert wird.

In diesem Fenster klicken Sie auf Bearbeiten um DxO ViewPoint 2 zu starten.

Alle Objektive sind mehr oder weniger von Verzeichnung betroffen, die entweder tonnenfrmig ist (nach auen hin gewlbt) oder kissenfrmig (nach innen gewlbt), oder eine Mischung aus beidem. DxO ViewPoint 2 ermglicht es Ihnen dank der optischen DxO Module die Verzeichnung Ihres Objektivs automatisch zu korrigieren.

Die Distorsion wird optimal auf solchen Bildern korrigiert, die direkt aus der Kamera stammen und weder in der Kamera noch durch eine dritte Software bereits bearbeitet wurde.

NOTE

Schritt 1 - ffnen Sie in DxO ViewPoint 2 indem Sie auf Datei > ffnen klicken, oder Ihr Bild per Drag&Drop auf das Fenster der Applikation ziehen.

Schritt 2 - In der Palette Verzeichnung klicken Sie auf den Button Automatisch, der sich links befindet.

Verzeichnung korrigieren

Schritt 3 - Ein Dialogfeld zeigt Ihnen an, ob fr Ihr Equipment ein optisches DxO Modul installiert ist bzw. zum Download zur Verfgung steht. Zur Installation muss das Programm nicht neu gestartet werden.

Schritt 4 - Klicken Sie auf OK, um das Modul falls notwendig zu laden und das Bild zu korrgieren.

Schritt 5 - Speichern Sie Ihr Bild, indem Sie auf Datei > Speichern unter gehen.

Volumendeformation korrigieren

Die Volumendeformation tritt hufig auf, wenn man Fotos von Objekten, Personen oder Gruppen mit einem Weitwinkelobjektiv aufnimmt. Objekte im Randbereich eines Bildes erscheinen stark verzerrt. In unserem Beispiel sehen wir, dass der Arm und der Kopf der Frau verzerrt sind. Also werden wir eine Korrektur passend zu unserem Bild anwenden, um dem Kopf des Brutigams natrliches Aussehen und Proportionen zurckzugeben.

Schritt 1 - ffnen Sie in DxO ViewPoint 2 ein Bild mit demselben Fehler wie das Beispielbild, indem Sie auf Datei > ffnen klicken, oder ziehen Sie das Bild per Drag&Drop auf das Programmfenster.

Sie knnen Ihre nderungen jederzeit rckgngig machen, indem Sie auf den Button Korrektur zurcksetzen in der Palette oben rechts anklicken.

Strzende Linien korrigieren

In der Architekturfotografie muss der Fotograf hufig aus der Froschperspektive arbeiten, weil er sich am Fu eines Gebudes befindet, oder nach unten schieen, wenn er einen erhhten Standpunkt hat. In beiden Fllen wird das Objekt deformiert und es ergibt sich ein Effekt der strzenden Linien, die sich zum Bildrand hin annhern. In unserem Beispiel wurde aus der Froschsperspektive aufgenommen und das Gebude scheint nach hinten zu kippen, was fr den Bildaufbau unvorteilhaft ist. Also werden wir die vertikalen Parallelen korrigieren.

Schritt 1 - ffnen Sie ein Bild in DxO ViewPoint 2.

Schritt 2 - In der Palette Perspektive klicken Sie auf den Button Vertikale Parallele erzwingen. Auf Ihrem Bild erscheinen zwei ver-tikale Linien, die jeweils 2 Kreise als Anfasser haben.

Schritt 3 - Whlen Sie in Ihrem Bild zwei vertikale Elemente als Re-ferenz. Platzieren Sie die Maus auf einem der Referenzpunkte und verschieben ihn auf den Endpunkt Ihres Referenz-Elements. Dann verschieben Sie den zweiten Punkt, um die Linie auf dem vertikalen Element auszurichten. Verfahren Sie genauso mit der zweiten Linie.

Mit Hilfe der Palette Visualisation knnen Sie Ihre Bezugspunkte exakt setzen. Oder Sie zoomen fr mehr Przision.

TIPP

Schritt 4 - berprfen Sie Ihre Korrekturen, indem Sie auf den Button Anzeige aktualisieren klicken, der in der unteren Werkzeu-gleiste erscheint. DxO ViewPoint 2 zeigt die Bildbereiche abgedun-kelt an, die beim automatischen Zuschneiden entfernt werden.

Schritt 5 - Klicken Sie auf den Button Anwenden. Die Korrektur wird sofort angewendet und das Bild automatisch beschnitten.

Schritt 6 - Speichern Sie Ihre nderungen, indem Sie auf Datei > Speichern unter gehen.

Sie knnen Ihr Bild auch manuell zuschneiden. Dazu klicken Sie in der Korrekturpalette auf Zuschneiden. Nutzen Sie das Gitter, das sich ber Ihr Bild legt, um den Ausschnitt zu bestimmen. Sie knnen das Seitenverhltnis des Originals beibehalten, oder es in dem Men Seitenverhltnis ndern. Klicken sie auf den Button Schlieen. Die Korrektur wird angewendet und das Bild beschnitten.

Mit DxO ViewPoint 2 knnen Sie auch Probleme mit der horizontalen Perspektive oder noch komplexere Fehler korrigieren.
