Our House in Omoa
Living by
the
o c e a n
is
exciting and sometimes frightening. We
have
felt two
earth tremors,
and just
the
last
few
days,
have
been
buffeted by hard
rain, high
s e a s ,
a n d
s tron g w i n d s from
the hurri
cane off the Pacific
coast
of Mexico.
It is
very
interesting
to
watch
the
fishermen come
in
with the different
kinds of fish. We
can buy all
of
the fresh fish that we want for 25 cents
U.S.
a
pound.
It certainly
is
cheap
enough, but I don't
like fish.
I f
you like
to fish, why don't
you
come down and
visit us.
We
have
some of the best fishing
i n the wor l d
right here in
front of
my
house.
This
is
a
personal invitation
to a l l
our our
friends.
Bible Correspondence
Brother Clinton Looney's Bible Correspondence materials has turned
out to
be a
very effective means
of teaching hundreds
of
people
the
word of
God.
Most of the people we have contacted seem eager to
know more about the Bible. The material
is
geared
to
bring the
student to
a
decision
for
Christ. No
one can
study this complete
course
and
not know
exactly what
he must do
to
be
saved. This
also
includes
knowledge
of
Christ;
the Holy
Spirit;
the church;
the
authority
of
the
scriptures, etc.
At
the
present
time we have
our
program on two radio stations. One is i n San
Pedro
Sula, and the
other
is in Puerto Cortes.
Both
of
these
stations
offer
the free
Bible correspondence course. We received a letter
from
a man who

The
Lord continues to bless us here in
Omoa.
As of today we have
enrolled 172
students
for our Bible
correspondence program. Five
of the
first
students to finish the
course
have been baptized. Each
day I
teach
a
special
class for
the
new
converts who
want
to learn
to
teach
and
preach.
Their changed lives and
their eagerness
to
serve
Christ
have
made
a tremendous
impact on
the village of Costa
Rica.
After
hurricane Fifi the
government
purchased a tract of
land about
a mile
from Omoa and
built 90
small concrete block
houses
for
the people of Omoa that had lost their homes. This is
the
new
village
of
Costa
Rica. All
of
our converts come
from
this
village. These people seem to have a great interest in knowing
more
about the
Bible.
They do not hesitate
to
walk
over
a mile
to
attend
our
services in
Omoa. Last
Sunday
night
40 of the 68 people
present
were from Costa
Rica.
I
remember
seeing many
of
these
people when I first came
here
with relief supplies. I never
dreamed that I would be living
here
and preaching the Gospel to
them.
Samuel,
our Mexican
preacher got homesick and went back to
Mexico. He did
a
good
work while he
was
here.
Richard
Gring and
his family came
by to
visit with us. They were
here
for about
3
weeks. We sure did
enjoy
visiting with them.
Richard and his family came
down
to help in the reconstruction of
Guatemala. They worked
as
missionaries in El
Salvidor and
Guatemala
in the late 60's.
We will continue to push the Bible correspondence program. Every
new student we
enroll
in the program adds that much more work and

The three reasons they settled-oh

(1) The people in
this area are similar
to those that they had
worked
with in Mexico, (2) his area had the b est schools, (3) There are
several Mexic an villages across the river that can b e ministered
