Dynamic Learning Tutorial 12: Assign Lesson or Test from
the Manage DL area – coming soon
Entering the Manage DL area
To get access to Manage DL,
you’ll need to log in as a
teacher or teacher admin, then
click the Manage icon at the
top right of the My Dynamic
Learning screen.
Please note that if your
institution is trialling Dynamic
Learning, and has not yet
identified a User Manager, you
will not be able to access
Manage DL or create
individualised logins. Tutorial 9
will tell you more about the
User Manager process.
The instructions page
Use this page to choose what
you want to do next.
Each tab’s icon changes to
orange when you mouse over
or select it.
This tutorial shows the process
of assigning lesson and tests
from the teacher admin point
of view. It assumes that your
institution already has some
users in its database. If it does
not, please view Tutorial 10
about creating users.

Assign a lesson from the Manage DL area
Assigning or sharing lessons is
central to the way Dynamic
Learning works. You can do
this in several ways:
1. directly from the Lessons
panel on Course Home;
2. From within the Lesson
Builder itself (see Tutorials
6 and 7);
3. From the Manage DL area.
This functionality is coming
soon.
Click the Assign lesson button
at the top of the Manage
screen, and fill in the form that
appears, selecting the lesson
you want from the dropdowns.
First choose the lesson you
want to assign. You can do this
by using the folder dropdown,
top left, to narrow your search,
and then the second, lesson
dropdown to select a lesson
from that folder.
Alternatively, you can go
straight to the second drop
down to select your lesson.
Folders containing no lessons
are not listed.
Choosing recipients
Now use the title and group
dropdowns and the users
listing to select students and /
or teachers to whom to send
your lesson. As in other
listings, you can sort this list on
any column, although the
default is alphabetically by last
name.
Use the
alphabet filters
to further
narrow your
choice of
students
Choose a title
and/or group
to narrow
your choice
The Assign lesson screen from Manage
DL will look something like this, but will
allow you to select a lesson from any
title, and assign it to any student
(coming soon – for the present, use
this function from the Lesson Builder)

Then confirm or adjust the
start and end dates for the
period during which your
lesson should be available, and
enter a notification message, if
you like.
If you have created a special
group during this process and
want to save it for future use,
click the Assign/share and
make group button.
Otherwise, simply click
Assign/share.
Show/hide assignment history
The Show assignment history
button is useful if you forget
who you have sent a lesson to
– it will provide you with a list
of the recipients of the lesson
you’ve selected, with the dates
when it was assigned.
Receiving a shared or assigned lesson
When you assign or share a
lesson, your recipients receive
a message from you within a
few moments. If they are
online at the time, the
message will arrive next time
they press ‘refresh’ or perform
a task that involves connecting
with our servers.
Messages that have been
clicked appear white.
Forwarding a lesson
When you click the incoming message, the lesson will open from your DL Inbox, ready for you to
play or edit it. At this point, the lesson’s author is still the original sender, and if you forward it
straight from the DL Inbox without editing it, it will continue to carry that name. If you choose to
edit it, however, you’ll be prompted to move it out of the DL inbox and it will take your name
instead.
Confirm the
start and end
dates and
enter a
notification

Set the length of time for which you want the test to be available
You may now set a time span for the test, and
optionally, a notification or message for the
recipients.
When a student is assigned a test, the message
will come in to their message list, and the test
will become visible in their ‘To do’ list. They can
click the listing from either place to launch the
test.
