ARE YOU A CURRENT STUDENT AT GLASGOW
KELVIN COLLEGE?
“Glasgow Kelvin College is committed to promoting progression and would
like to encourage you to continue your studies with us. The College will offer
guidance and support for you to consider your progression opportunities, both
within class and through student support services.
If you are on a recognised learning path (for example N.Q. Business
progressing to H.N. Business) we will issue you with a conditional offer
(generally based on you passing your current course). If you would like to
move on to a course not directly related to your current course of study, we
will offer you a prioritised interview where appropriate.”
.
Your Faculty should speak to you about progression options for next
year. This should take place before the end of January.
As a current student YOU WILL BE PRIORITISED for consideration
before we consider places from external applicants.
Although your Faculty may be able to offer you a place verbally this
must be followed up by an offer from Admissions. If you do not receive
your offer by the end of February you should contact Admissions
urgently.
PLEASE NOTE
Many Faculties will not interview you. After your class tutor has
discussed options with you they will simply instruct us to send you an
offer where appropriate.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Offer Letter
Your Faculty will inform us if you should receive an
offer. This is normally a Conditional Offer based on
successful completion of your current course and a
reference from your Curriculum Manager. Remember
this does NOT mean you will automatically be
guaranteed a place the following year. YOU STILL
HAVE TO MEET THE CONDITIONS.
Your Faculty will then liaise directly with the Admissions Team to update
us on your results. We will contact you at the end of term with a revised
unconditional offer if the conditions are met.
Interview
You may be invited for an interview for your
chosen course. This often happens when the
course you are studying is not directly linked to the
course you are applying for or there are more
internal applicants than spaces. We will contact
you directly to arrange an interview.
Unsuccessful
Unfortunately some of you may not be given an offer for the course of
your choice. If so we will contact you formally detailing the reason you
have been unsuccessful and invite you to contact the Guidance Team or
Faculty to discuss alternative options.
Waiting List
If there are too many applicants for the course you apply for you may be
issued with a waiting list letter. We will contact you if places become
available.
If progressing to an HNC, HND or Degree course your funding will be
provided by the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS). We will
shortly arrange some information sessions where you can meet the
SAAS team and hear from them directly about Fees, Loans and Grants.
This is an invaluable opportunity for you to ask any questions you may
have to ensure your funding is in place when you start your new course.
