Brother Sir Knights and Ladies:

Vivat Jesus!

Fall was short this year, and winter is

upon us again. As you can see to the

right, I was able to finally become part

of the Color Corp. I was pleased to have

the wedding of SK Abraham Earley be

my first time in Regalia.

I have known Abraham since he went to preschool with my daughter, and he

has grown into a fine young man.

If you have young children or grandchildren I suggest you check out page 6

about the Doc Egan Party, my wife and I have helped with this for the last 3 or

4 years and the kid’s that attend have a great time.

We have finished the exempt and have four new Sir Knights in our Assembly,

and in this last month we have lost one of our members, Sir Knight Thomas

Kinney. We will be honoring him at our next meeting.

I have been dealing with a sinus infection for the last three weeks and thought it

was just another cold. My wife finally convinced me to stop toughing it out and

go to the doctor, I must confess I had the say the three words a husband hates to

admit to his wife, “ I was wrong” but she listed it on facebook as the three

words a wife loves to hear her husband say. Hope to see all our newest Sir

Knights at the meeting on Tuesday the 17th.

Fraternally,

John Gordon - Faithful Navigator Assembly #3334

Prayer for the Sick

Dear Jesus, Divine Physician and Healer of the sick, we

turn to you in this time of illness. O Dearest

Comforter of the troubled, alleviate our worry and

sorrow with your gentle love, and grant us the grace and

strength to accept this burden. Dear God, we place our

worries in your hands. We place our sick under your

care and humbly ask that you restore your servant to

health again. Above all, grant us the grace to

acknowledge your will and know that whatever you do,

you do for the love of us. Watch, O Lord, with those

who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and give your

angels charge over those who sleep. Tend your sick

ones, O Lord Christ. Rest your weary ones. Bless your

dying ones. Soothe your suffering ones. Pity your af-

flicted ones. Shield your joyous ones.

And for all your love's sake. Amen.

Admiral’s Advice – SK Gaylend Meeks:

Commemoration of the Faithful Departed

In the modern Church Calendar we call it All Souls Day. The name is self -

explanatory in the fact that this is the day when Catholics everywhere pray

for the Soul of their departed loved ones. It is the day when we ask for pu-

rification of the Souls of those we love who have passed into purgatory

and not yet obtained the purified sanctity to enter into heaven.

Historically, this practice is documented as far

back as Maccabees 12 42-46. A day of inter-

cession was adopted in Liege in the year 1008

until it was officially adopted by the Church

under Leo XIII.

I find it reassuring that the Saints of heaven are

interceding on our behalf when we die. This

process begins immediately when we pray….May their soul and the souls of all the faithfully depart-

ed, rest in peace.

Fraternally submitted,

SK Gaylend Meeks – Admiral

Bill Currie, Commander Since my last article the honor guard had a few call-outs. On September 28 we were at I.H.M. council’s Corporate Communion. I want to thank SK Dan Reinecke for filling in for me. The next day we had an honor guard practice at Resurrection Church. This was to bring everyone up to speed on changes presented at the dis-trict color corps training on August 16 and the Provincial training on September

27. This was also a time to get in practice and ask any questions. Unfortunately the few who attend-ed were those least needing the practice. My former faithful friar, Fr. John Fain, was installed as pas-tor of St. Therese Parish by Bishop Boyea on October 5. The honor guard from St. Francis Assembly and The Lansing Assembly participated in the Mass. On October 8 and 9 we joined Bishop Albers As-sembly honor guard in saying goodbye to SK Charles Smith at his wake service at Palmer Bush and Jensen Funeral Home and funeral Mass at St. Casimir Church. Charlie was a long time member of the honor guard. A few honor guard participated in the wedding of SK Abe Earley and Helen Jones at Church of the Resurrection on October 18. Congratulations to our newlyweds. Resurrection School hosted a Veterans Day program on November 11 in which they asked the honor guard to participate. On November 11 and 12 Bishop Albers Assembly joined our honor guard in honoring SK Thomas Kin-ney at his wake service at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home (East Lansing) and funeral Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. I will end our list of call-outs as I started it, with a Corporate Communion for I.H.M. council. This was on November 16. Since the Provincial meeting in Ohio on September 26-28 there has been a bit of discussion on the correct lapel pin to be worn on regalia. VSM Donald Hall is letting the district masters determine the lapel pin for their district. Master George Walrath is ordering that the “Flag Pin” (PG-745-US) be worn on both social regalia and color corps regalia at all official functions in Michigan District II. The 4th degree pin (PG-113) will only be worn with regalia at the exemplification ceremony by the new sir knights. Christmas is coming and those thinking about joining the color corps will need regalia and long time members may need regalia upgrades. Include any needed items in your letter to Santa Claus.

We welcome anyone to join the Honor Guard. Should you have any questions please contact me at 485-5886 or [email protected].

Upcoming Call-out Schedule

It is very helpful if you reply to the e-mailed call-out if you plan to attend a call-out or not.

12/12/14, School Mass (Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe) at Church of the Resurrection, 8:15 a.m. Mass, 7:45 a.m. report time.
