Double-acting Principle of OperationUsingcompressedairasapowersource,anair-drivenliquidpumpintensifiesthehydraulicfluidbytheratiobetweentheareaoftheair-drivenpistonandtheareaofthehydraulicpiston.Forexamplea10:1double-actingpumpoper-atesasfollows:

PushingAirat100psi(6.6bar)enterstheleftaircylinderchamberandactsona10sq.in.(65sq.cm.)piston,pushingittotheright.Thehydraulicpistonis2sq.in.(13sq.cm.)andtherodis1sq.in.(6.5sq.cm).Thecrossovercheckvalveallowsoiltofilltherodendwhiledischargingfluidtotheoutlet,the“push”ratioisbasedontherelation-shipbetweentheairpistonareaandthehydraulicrodarea,yieldinganintensificationratioof10:1.

PullingAirat100psi(6.6bar)enterstherightaircylinderchamber,pushingtheairpistontotheleft(pullingthehydraulicpiston).The“pull”ratioisalso10:1asdeterminedbytheratiooftheareasoftheairpistonsurface(lessrod)tothehydraulicpistonsurface(lessrod).Noteduringthisstroke,oilisbeingdrawnintothehydraulicpistonendforthenext“push”stroke.

ESeriespumpshaveapeakhydraulicoutputof1-1/3HP(1kW)at2/3ofstallpressure.Maximumairconsumptionis30SCFM(850LPM).Designedforfixedinstallationonstandard1-,2-or5-gallon(3.8-,7.6-or19-liter)reservoirsoroncustomfabricatedreservoirs,E-Seriespumpsarebestsuitedforheavy-dutyapplicationswithlargeactuators.

PSeriespumpshaveapeakhydraulicoutputof0.9HP(0.7kW)at2/3ofstallpressure.Maximumairconsumptionis17SCFM(482LPM).ThesmallerPSeriespumpscomewithself-containedreservoirsinsizesfrom40cu.in.to160cu.in.(0.7to2.6L)andareideallysuitedforportableoperation,orformediumtosmallactuators.

HSeriespumpsareideallysuitedforin-betweenapplicationsrequiringhigherflowsthanthePSerieswhilemaintainingasmallerfootprintthantheESeries.HSeriespumpshavemorecircuitoptionsthanthePSeriesandlowerairconsumptionthantheESeries.
