A New Beginning for Our Ellie! We rescued Miss Ellie about a year ago. She was from Malone. We had received a call asking us to take this small kitten who had a bad eye. One of our volunteers picked her up and brought her to the Cat Palace. Like all our new kids, Ellie was taken to the vet. Dr Stevens found Ellie was indeed not a kitten, but a senior cat who had a head injury. One eye was all cloudy, no sight, and her breathing was also labored . After her first vet check, it had also been determined that Ellie is deaf. One more ob- stacle she has overcome! This sweet girl loved attention and fit in at the quarantine building in St Regis Falls. Ellie had the habit of sleeping with her head down. This was explained to us as due to her head injury. Pressure on her head was soothing to her. A few months ago Ellie was saying her morning prayers. We posted the picture on Facebook and the calls started coming in from all over the place!! Toronto, Maryland the Carolinas, and Ver- mont. Finally Ellie found her home. An out- standing home with a loving couple. We met her caring, new parents in Syracuse, they had driven 8 hours to meet us. She traveled well and is doing well and adapted quickly to her new home. She is active happy and content. Many, thanks to every- one for caring. She is indeed a rescue with a great outcome! We do what we do because of happy endings like this! Cindy was found standing over the yellow line on State Route 190 early one Saturday morning. Volun-teers of Focus on Ferals were travelling, in sepa-rate vehicles, to Platts-burgh, NY for an adop-

Update on New Building for our FIV & FELV

Cats and our new “Mom and Kitten Suite”!

The lot has been cleared, fill brought in and leveled, and the cement slab has been poured. We are now getting estimates to construct the walls and roof, and will hopefully have enough money to start construction of the building soon. The current foster parent of the FIV & FELV cats reported, that each day that she goes into the room where the FIV and FELV cats are temporar-ily housed in cages and they look up at her through the wire cages, and she tells them “Soon guys!”

We are still a long ways from having sufficient funds to move forward and complete this building project. A GofundMe campaign has been created in an effort to raise funds for a FIV/FeLV shelter. We anticipated a few years ago that the need for an actual Shelter would be forthcoming. We currently have 18 positive cats and this number will continue to grow. Since we have lost our FIV/FeLV foster home, and other options have not been in our favor, we really don't see any other option. Please share with everyone in your email contacts and ask them to share as well so we can get the word out. There is a link on our Facebook page. If you wish to donate directly please use the donation button on our website, and specify “building fund”.
