During the holy season of Lent, we are asked to devote ourselves to seeking the
Lord in prayer and reading Scripture, to service by giving alms, and to prac ce
self-control through fas ng. We Catholics are also encouraged to make going to
confession a significant part of our spiritual lives during Lent. Do not forget that we
have two weekly spots to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconcilia on: every
Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:20 p.m. and every Saturday from 4.00 p.m. to
5.20 p.m. This year, our Lenten Reconcilia on Service will be on Friday, March 19,
2021 at 7.00 p.m.
On Wednesday February 24, 2021, and Wednesday March 17, 2021 at the end of
the 5.30 p.m. mass, the Most Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for adora on,
there will be a moment of medita on led by the priest as well. We wanted to call
this moment "Adora on and Renewal". Join us on both dates!
Last but not least, every Friday during the holy season of Lent, to meditate on the
Lord's Passion, at 12.00 p.m. we will pray the Sta ons of the Cross. At that me
there will also be a priest available to celebrate the sacrament of Reconcilia on.
In less words: in our community there are many opportuni es to walk the path of
Lent with a strong and renewed spirit.

The Angel of the LORD declared unto Mary, And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
Hail Mary Behold the handmaid of the LORD.
Be it done unto me according to thy word.
Hail Mary And the Word was made flesh.
And dwelt among us.
Hail Mary Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray, Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O LORD, Thy grace into our hearts; that, we, to whom
the Incarna on of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrec on.
Through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.
My dear parishioners, the Angelus is a Catholic devo on commemora ng the Incarna on of Jesus in the womb of our Lady the Blessed Virgin Mary. As with many Catholic prayers, the name Angelus is derived from its incipit—the first few words of the text: Angelus Domini nun avit Mariæ ("The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary"). The devo on is prac ced by reci ng as versicle and response three Biblical verses narra ng the mystery, alterna ng with the prayer "Hail Mary". This devo on has been recited in Roman Catholic churches, convents, and monasteries three mes daily: 06:00, 12:00 and 18:00, usually accompanied by the ringing of the Angelus bell, which is a call to prayer and to spread goodwill to everyone. According to Herbert Thurston, the Angelus originated with the 11th-century monas c custom of reci ng three Hail Marys at the evening, or Compline, bell. The first wri en documenta on stems from the Italian Franciscan friar Sinigardi di Arezzo (died 1282). Franciscan friaries in Italy document the use in 1263 and 1295. The current form of the Angelus prayer is included in a Vene an Catechism from 1560. The older usages seem to have commemorated the resurrec on of Christ in the morning, his suffering at noon, and the annuncia on in the evening. In 1269, St Bonaventure urged the faithful to adopt the custom of the Franciscans of saying three Hail Marys as the Compline bell was rung. In his Apostolic Le er Marialis Cultus (1974), Pope Paul VI encouraged the praying of the Angelus considering it important and a reminder to faithful Catholics of the Paschal Mystery, in which by recalling the incarna on of the son of God. Here in our community of St Peter Prince of the Apostles we have preserved this precious tradi on: every day, at 12 noon and at 6 in the a ernoon, our bells ring announcing the me of the Angelus. On Sundays, almost at the end of the celebra on of Holy Mass we can hear the bells announcing the Angelus: a reminder of the mystery that we have just celebrated, and an invita on to leave the parish full of joy and an-nounce to the world, with our works, that we have God among us • Fr. Become a Mass Minister for 2021-A New Year’s Resolution
Thinking about becoming an extraordinary minister, lector, altar server, cantor or greeter? “If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.” — John 12:26 Ministers like greeters, lectors, extraordinary ministers, altar servers, and cantors truly help us enhance the Mass. As a minister, you can help others partake in a more fulfilling worship experience.
Please consider being one of the 30 people needed for our weekend Masses. If you have not considered this in the past maybe 2021 will be the year!
Call the office or leave an e-mail if you are interested. We would love the help.
