Industrial Visit 2013 The gap between theoretical knowledge and its application is one of the largest in the sphereof professional education. Thus, industrial visits are an integral facet of GNIMS pedagogy.GNIMS conducts periodical industrial visit to the reputed companies situated across the country. Industrial visits provide the opportunity to students to meet company officials andstaff at common place and gather all possible information regarding the functioning of theirorganization. This year GNIMS organized an industrial visit to Goa from 04th to 08th March 2013 for the MMS students of Semester – II. The industries visited included the following:

Prof. Dr. Amarpeet Singh presented a paper at the National Conference on Paradigm for Sustainable Business: People, Planet, and Profit (March 8-9, 2013) at IIT Roorkee. The title of the research paper was, An exploratory study: A 7s model for two wheeler industry as competitive advantage.

ISO Audit

Keeping in mind the objective of system effectiveness & continual improvement, the third round of Surveillance ISO 9001-2008 was conducted on 15th March 2013 under the leadership & guidance of Dr. Ajit Singh.

The External Audit was preceded by two rounds of internal verification & also an Internal Audit on 12th March 2013.

The certificate renewal visit which is due to happen in November – December 2013, will focus on compliance & continual improvement.

Management Representative (MR)

A Marketing workshop was conducted at “Shri Shanmukhananda

Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Auditorium” Sion East, Mumbai on 16th March, 2013

by the Marketing Guru – Prof. Philip Kotler on “Values Driven Marketing”, organized

by Association of Indian Management School. It was attended by 100 GNIMS students

along with the Faculty Members. A certificate was issued to all the participant Colleges.

It was a matter of great pride for the GNIMS Family when the Academic Head

received the certificate on behalf of the Director General – Dr. Ajit Singh.

Guest Lecture Series for MMS and PGDM

A Guest lecture was arranged on, “Emerging trends in Social Marketing”” by Mr. Abodh Aras CEO – WSD on Saturday, 2nd March, 2013 from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Room No. G1.

Mr. Abodh Aras (CEO- Welfare of Stray Dogs -WSD) was the guest speaker for the event. The speaker touched upon the emerging and current trends of social marketing in India,followed by a Q&A session and a class activity. The session received good feedback from thestudents.

Ms Kanchana Manyam (Additional General Manager – Group HR at Shapoorji Pallonji & Co.Ltd.) delivered a Guest Lecture – HR at GNIMS Campus on 09th March 2013. Ms.Kanchana took the students through the journey of evolution of HR from 1700s’ till 2013.Students from MMS and PGDM course from First Year and Second Year were delighted toknow the history behind HR...

 

GNIMS organized a panel discussion on, “Employee Engagement” for the First Year and Second Year MMS and PGDM – HR students on Saturday, 16th March, 2013 from 2:00 p.m.to4:00p.m. The panelists invited were as Ms. Ridhima Parab (Business Director, Fine Frescos) and Mr. Arun Singh Rathore (Training Consultant, Challenging Horizons) The session started by both the speakers discussing their views on the subject and then havingan interaction with the students on the same. Ms. Ridhima Parab related the concept ofEmployee Engagement to Maslow’s Need Hierarchy and ERG Theory of motivation. It wascomplemented with an activity for the students as well. Mr. Arun related EmployeeEngagement to HR policies, work environment and organizational set up. The discussionconcluded by the speakers answering the queries of the students on the subject.
