IT’S TIME FOR FALL! Summer might be winding down, but our fall programs have something to offer everyone and keep the kids active. Registration-page 19.

From the MayorI hope your family had a nice summer! We are fortunate to live somewhere with such wonderful summer recreation opportunities, from our parks and trails to the river and foothills. As we wind down from a busy season, we are pleased to bring you more opportunities to stay active and engaged in our community this fall and winter.

Eagle is a city committed to quality of life. This commitment has helped shape the parks and recreation system of Eagle… a system that includes a riverside greenbelt trail, parks and playgrounds, foothills pathways, and now, year round recreational and cultural activities and events.

Browse through this guide for more information about all of the aforementioned perks of living in Eagle. New to the lineup this season are karate classes for the family, holiday camps for your elementary-aged children, and more adult classes, including art and fitness. I am sure you will find something fun for everyone!

Enjoy the last of these long summer days and get ready for a fun fall!

Greetings,This spring, during a workshop that was held for our Master Plan, the attendees asked for a way to find out what is going on in your Eagle Parks and Recreation Department. Since this Activity Guide is being mailed to all Eagle residents, this seems like a good place to start informing you what is happening both immediately and what we are dreaming of for the future.

• By late October the Bike Skill Park at the Sports Complex should be finished. The Skill Park will be for all bike riders who want to improve their mountain bike skills and will include manmade features to play on.

• We are working on getting quotes to finish the paving of the Greenbelt trail on the north side of the North Channel of the Boise River west of the Garden City city limits. Once this is paved, the Greenbelt will have two small sections east of Merrill Park that will be done sometime soon by private developers, which means that section of the Greenbelt will be paved from Eagle Road to Lucky Peak, a distance of just under 26 miles.

• This fall we will have a one-day work party sponsored by Mountain West Bank that will install over 30 directional and distance signs along the Green-belt on the north side of the Boise River.

• Locations are being reviewed and plans are being drawn up for Eagle’s first dog park. A community open house to get public opinion will be held.

• Currently we are doing a tree inventory of all the trees in Eagle that are on public property. This includes how many trees, the condition of the trees, and the species.

• At Friendship Park we are improving the playground area and will be adding a new piece of equipment called the Astro.

• Since early spring we have been working on improving the soccer fields at Guerber Park and they should open this fall.

• We have been working on the Dry Creek connector trail from Old State Street that will pass under Highway 44 to the trails on the south side of the highway. This will give a safe crossing of Highway 44 for all of the residents north of Highway 44 and west of Eagle Road to access the Greenbelt and the Boise River.

If you have any questions or comments about any of these projects feel free to contact me at [email protected] or 489-8775. Keep Playing,
