Hear what your peers are saying in meetings & training classes. There is power in your profession! Own it!Research confirms the value of playful learning. Read about & take classes to further explore guided play and its role in children’s learning. Take a look around. Observe the children in your care. Put new ideas that you learn in training classes into practice and watch what happens. Reveal your inner leader! Our profession needs emerging leaders. Get involved and volunteer in community programs. Seek out leadership opportunities in your center. Mentor someone new to the profession.Be an advocate. Champion developmentally appropriate practice’s academic rigor with principals and elementary education professionals in your community. American voters strongly support higher wages for early childhood educators. Advanced Level Training focuses on a more thorough

knowledge & understanding of developmentally appropriate practice

& highly effective application & demonstration of skills. For

professionals who have at least 3 years of experience & 30 credit hours in

child development.

Intermediate Level Training

includes expanding knowledge & application, & refining skills.

It is most appropriate for professionals who have at least (2) years of experience & 120

hours of training, and are moving toward more

formal education.

Basic Level Training covers a foundational

Addressing Homelessness: The Role of Early Childhood Educator - This training will help participants gain a better understanding of the definition of homelessness according to the McKinney-Vento Act while becoming familiar with the often unseen but growing prevalence of homelessness in Alabama. Participants will also identify the causes of homelessness and its impact on a child’s physical and mental development. Cognitive Development and School Readiness - It is through children’s cognitive skills that they learn about and experience the world around them. Director’s Forum: Building Positive Relationships with Families: Communication is Key- Communication occurs in many ways. A welcoming hello each day, a scheduled parent-teacher conference, or a conversation at drop-off or pick-up can begin to establish effective communication. This training provides suggestions on how to communicate with families in a meaningful way so that they become actively engaged in their child’s program. We will explore written, face-to-face and on-line communication that enables both the teacher and the family to be involved in decisions made regarding the child. Emergencies and Crisis: How to Help Children Through an Emergency - While families and teachers do what they can to keep children safe, emergencies happen when we don’t expect it.  Experiences such as tornadoes, hurricanes and snow storms are emergencies that can be scary for a young child.  This training will provide participants with ways to prepare for and recover from emergencies by identifying emergency helpers and creating an emergency plan to help children feel safe and secure. Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale- Revised (FCCERS-R)Learners will be introduced to the Family Child Care Environment Rating ScaleRe-vised, (FCCERS-R) which is an internationally recognized, evidence- based quality assessment tool specifically designed for Family and Group child care homes. This

session will enable family and group childcare home providers to assess their envi-ronment and provision of care and identify clear steps to enhance quality. Partici-

pants will demonstrate how to properly score items in each of the 7 subscales: Space and Furnishings; Personal Care Routines; Listening and Talking; Activities; Interaction;

Program Structure and, Parents and Provider.
