Ice climbing is an extreme sport refers to roped and protected climbing of features such as icefalls, frozen waterfalls, and cliffs and rock slabs covered with ice refrozen from flows of water.

History of Ice climbing

Ice climbing is a kind of European mountaineering during the 19th century. There were two modifications that changed Ice Climbing: 1) the invention and variation of Crampon and 2) development of climbing tools.

Competitions

Ice climbing World Cup takes place in Korea from 6th of January to 11th of January every year. The first prize is 1000 Euros(only!). Ice climbing has in popularity over the last few decades.
