EARTHQUAKE SAFETY
• The most important thing to do is to teach your friends or family about earthquakes and their causes.
• Stock up on thing that you may need to use in case of an earthquake, like: flashlights, batteries and first aid kits.
• Arrange your home and school so its “earthquake proof” by placing heavy objects on the bottom and light objects on the top.
• Anchor heavy appliances like the fridge, stove, desks and cabinets.• Place flammable items away from ignition sources.• Learn where your main turn off for electricity water and gas is.
EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESSThere are lots of things you can do to be prepared for an earthquake,
some of them are:• Check for hazard inside your house like heavy objects that are not
fastened or breakable items that can cause damage should be placed on lower shelves.
• Identify safe places both inside and outside your school or house like sturdy furniture pieces or against a wall
• Create an emergency communication plan with your classmates or family and make sure everyone knows where to meet and how things go about
