MARCH/APRIL NEWSLETTER
The year is going by so fast I can’t believe it – Soon it will be time for our Summer Seminar
in August which is going to be terrific and one you won’t want to miss!!!
By the time you receive this Newsletter we would have had our Professional Designation
workshops and looking forward to hosting the CEA Professional Designation test on April
18th – I hope all of you wishing to be Professionally Designated submitted your application
so you can take the test and have that wonderful feeling of accomplishment and pride.
We were very honored and privileged to have as our guest at the February meeting Joyce
Cujak who was the co-founder of EASGV in 1954. Joyce was President of the California
Escrow Association in 1964 and President of Escrow Associates of San Gabriel Valley in
1957 when we were chartered with the California Escrow Association. Joyce is a wonderful
person and has the most wonderful escrow stories and experiences you could possibly think
of - - - I certainly hope she can attend some of our other meetings this year .
A special Thank You to Jennifer Felten, Esq. for being such a wonderful speaker at our
February meeting and presenting us with a lot of education on many subjects. We
appreciate her attending our meeting and sharing her knowledge of what’s new and what’s
in our future for our industry.
All of our committees are working hard to present our members with the best in education.
Our monthly meetings will always be informative - our committee chairs always report on our
charitable events, seminars, legislative updates and fun events being planned. Please don’t
miss any of our meetings!!!!
Membership is the key!! If you are not a member of EASGV you are missing out – Don’t
delay and join now so you won’t miss out on all of the benefits afforded members of our #1
Association!!
Remember this is the 4th and final year of our 4 year cycle for Professional Designation
credits. Please make sure you have counted your credits so that you’ll have no problem
attaining the required 48 continuing education credits by December 31, 2015.
Respectfully submitted

March/ April 2015 The Membership Committee is busy, busy, BUSY reaching out to non-members, both escrow professionals
and affiliates alike, to join the Escrow Associates of San Gabriel Valley, following up on membership
inquiries and sending out applications. We will even be emailing, mailing or PERSONALLY dropping off a
letter on the benefits of membership to non-member escrow companies in the greater surrounding area
these next few weeks. Plus, we are on a mission this year of making ourselves known starting with joining
our neighboring real estate associations.
This month, EASGV has joined the Arcadia Association of Realtors, Citrus Valley Association of Realtors,
the Pasadena–Foothills Association of Realtors and the West San Gabriel Valley Association of Realtors to
represent YOU! Who better to represent your interest than you? Will you join us?
We’re all in this together, and together we have a stronger voice. So, whether you are practicing escrow, a Broker or Agent, or in an affiliated business, become a member today. With the collective voice of a large association, we have a better chance of being heard – and listened to – by Federal and State regulators that, particularly now more than ever, must hear our position on the rules and regulations, laws, and imposing vetting companies that are impacting the Escrow/Settlement industry. We know it takes a special mix of knowledge, experience and personality to be successful in the industry. EASGV provides the education, information, resources and networking to support your success. Our membership includes some of the most experienced, knowledgeable and friendly people. They are willing and anxious to share what they know with you! With that in mind, let us extend a HUGE WELCOME to our newest members:
GLORIBEL CORREA of Champion Escrow
BEATRIZ GARCIA of Covina Escrow
CATHERINE CHANG of Global Escrow
MICHELLE HAN of Global Escrow
VICTORIA PARTRIDGE of Arcadia Escrow Services
EASGV is now at 122 members and counting!
The more members, the stronger the association, the louder and more united the voice – the bigger the gains, the bigger the impact, the better for the Escrow profession, the better for YOU!
Complete a membership application and join today! You will be glad you did.

Social Media Committee Report – Mar/Apr 2015
EASGV secured its place in cyberspace on April 19, 2000 with the very first version of our website.
It was a 3-page website with basic information about meetings, education, board members,
committees, and even a few resource links. Version 2.0 of the website was launched February 3,
2002 with a 10-page website and a better design to benefit our members. It was expanded to 20
pages in 2003 and soon we found that we needed more flexibility. In January 2004, we launched a
new version and for the first time we were able to offer printable meeting notices. Over the next few
years, we expanded the website to more than 50 accessible pages and beginning in 2007 we
began to change the theme each year for a new look and feel.
This year, we moved our website away from a desktop platform to a web-based platform. One of
the reasons we chose this particular platform was because it allowed attachments so we could
continue with printable meeting notices and newsletters. The PDF docs on our website are
uploaded via ISSUU.com and are downloadable by first clicking on Share, then on Download.
Some documents require you to sign into your account at ISSUU, and you can sign up for a free
account. Once you download the flyer then you can print from your computer. We are still testing
all the nuances this new platform offers, so continue to visit often to see what’s new!
If you haven’t already, please join us on Facebook. Sign in to your Facebook account, search
Escrow Associates of San Gabriel Valley, and then submit a request to join. Feel free to post
industry related topics in the group. Our goal is to keep the escrow professional in San Gabriel
Valley engaged and informed. Our Twitter following is also growing. Follow us on Twitter
@EASGV.
As a member of EASGV, you are automatically included in our eblasts. We will send you the
monthly meeting notices, our bi-monthly newsletters, and special announcements from time to time,
consisting of information on events and activities which EASGV supports and information applicable
to our industry. If your email address ever changes, please send an email to Jacqueline Cheou at
[email protected]. Jacqueline will also be happy to forward your email to CEA to help you
make the change with them as well. Don’t miss out on the eblasts!
Respectfully submitted,

Have you thanked your Assistant, Secretary, Receptionist
or other Administrative support for a job “well done”?
This unofficial holiday began in 1952 when the Presidents of two associations thought to recognize
“the secretary, upon whose skills, loyalty, and efficiency the functions of the business and govern-
ment offices depend,” and to call attention “through favorable publicity, to the tremendous potential
of the secretarial career”.
Most of us have at least one direct assistant, support staff and/or an office receptionist to thank for
the many tasks that help keep us sane and make sure the office is running smoothly.
Take a few minutes to reach out to each individual and give a heartfelt “Thank you” for all they do!
