Roofing repairs

Testimonial:

“It is with pleasure that I recommend Paul and Allzones Roofing Services. We encountered a problem at our residence over the last winter during the large snowfall with an ingress of water in two dormer window areas. We requested quotes from two well known roofing companies and were told we require a completely new roof at an exorbitant sum of money. Thank goodness we had someone refer us to Paul. He identified the problem as being poorly fitted felt and loose tiles which were pushed up by the snowfall & freezing weather. He and his men attended immediately and corrected the situation at a fraction of the cost quoted by the previous two companies

It is truly wonderful to meet a tradesman who is not only extremely honest but very proud of the work he performs. I am quite confident that any who employs this company will be very pleased with the final result.”

Western Cars was established four years ago by group of experienced drivers who had been in the business for many years.

From their combined experience as drivers and the comments received from passengers they could see a need for a service that was not only affordable but friendly, prompt & reliable; so they set about creating East Grinstead based Western Cars.

People rely on taxis to get them to work, get their children to school, catch the train, etc., all on time. Western Cars know how a “simple” thing like a late taxi means a missed train, broken appointment & more.

So they strive to provide a good, practical service to people by not only ensuring customers are taken care of but their drivers too, as without a team of good reliable drivers, you can’t maintain service.

Their policy is: only book work which is fulfilled on time and always attempt to provide as accurate a time as possible to not keep anyone waiting.

Since the start of the company they have seen many changes due to their growth but the commitment to the original idea of providing an affordable service that is friendly, prompt & reliable has remained the same.

All the vehicles and drivers of the team are fully licensed by the local authority and the cars are kept as clean as possible.

Each driver is aware of the importance of customer service and satisfaction, they all

do what they can to help with things like the loading and unloading of suitcases & shopping, as well as helping the elderly or infirm in & out of the car etc.

Western Cars is investing in the latest state-of-the-art computer technology as part of our continual effort to improve customer service.

If you need a taxi service that are all of these things don’t hesitate to call and give us a try. Save our number for when you need us:

January certainly has the reputation as the month that we would rather forget or at least “be somewhere else”. The coldest month in the Northern Hemisphere and traditionally the “tax return month” leaves a sour taste in the mouth & a chill down your back at the thought.

Going further in Ancient Roman times they did not even grace January & February with names as they were the “winter months” and March was the beginning of the year. So you could say it’s had a bit of a “tough time” as months go…

However if one looks, one shall find which is precisely what we’ve done. Here are some significant historical events that makes it a month not necessarily to forget…

On January 3rd, 1924 English explorer Howard Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings, near Luxor, Egypt.

On January 10th, 1918 The House of Lords gives its approval to the Representation of the People Bill, which gives woman over the age of 30 the right to vote.

On January 15th 1559 Elizabeth I was crowned Queen of England at the age of 26. Elizabeth is the daughter of Henry VIII’s second wife, Anne Boleyn.

On January 18th 1485After 30 years of civil war the Royal Houses of Lancaster and York are united by the marriage of Henry VII to the eldest daughter of Edward IV.

On January 21st 1846 The first edition of the Daily News, edited by Charles Dickens is published in London.

On January 25th 1759Birth of Robert “Rabbie” Burns, Scottish poet. Burns Suppers celebrated all over the world each year on this day.

On January 27th 1926Inventor John Logie Baird demonstrates his new television machine to members of the Royal Institution in London. Some have suggested that this could one day provide every home with a substitute for the cinema.

On January 28th 1807London becomes the first city in the world to be lit by gas lights.

On January 30th Jan1595Shakespere’s “Romeo & Juilet” was first performed.

Have a pleasantly eventful January.

Health benefits from walking are well known - enhancing both physical and mental welbeing. However, as

Tony Osmand, a walk-leader with Mid Sussex Ramblers says, “We walk for fun! The undoubted health benefits are coincidental.” And there are many varied walks to choose from all over the county. The walks’ programme can be seen on thier website and new members are made very welcome. You can just turn up and try a few walks before joining The Ramblers.Whether it is walking in the High Weald with a pub lunch; striding across the South Downs; or exploring Ashdown Forest, Mid Sussex Ramblers encompass the lot. Tony maintains the Mid Sussex Ramblers’ website, where there is a wealth of information including photographs of the past walks, which you can view.

There are even themed walks throughout the year, for example to enjoy the beauty of our bluebell woods or cowslip covered rolling Downs or view nesting Kittiwakes at Seaford. When it comes to getting more out of life; going places that you might never go on your own, meeting new people and old friends and enjoying the wonderful wildlife of Sussex as you stroll along, Ramblers are worth trying.

They would like to welcome new members from the East Grinstead area, visit www.midsussexramblers.co.uk for more information

Kitchens Bespoke of East Grinstead has won KBB Review magazine’s East Grinstead/Crowborough category for top kitchen installer in this area! For anyone who doesn’t know, KBB Review is a top national kitchen/bathroom magazine for the industry.

The KBB Review states:

“Rachael Workman of Kitchens Bespoke had been in the kitchen business for 20 years before setting up her own showroom in 2008. Her background is in kitchen design and she sees this as her strength: ‘I’m not a sales person, the design is everything to me, but not just in terms of aesthetics, the practicalities are almost more important. I am a working mum so I know how it works.’

Then she showed me a bound copy of a design she was working on for a customer neatly presented with CAD images and costing. As she handed me her card, Rachael said that I can come out to have a look at the space and she could offer advice on what will and won’t work. Score 8/10 Rachael made a confident and comprehensive pitch.”

As well as installing high quality kitchens to fit varying budgets, Kitchens Bespoke offer the following services:

• Replacement worktops including granite, wood, Corian, Silestone & laminate.

• Replacement sink & taps, doors & handles.• Glass back splashes – made to measure, in a large range of colours.

Family Crest - Seal RingsSeal Rings have been worn by men of distinction for centuries. The signet ring was originally a Seal Ring - the “mark” of a gen-tleman. The name “Signet” came from the Latin word signator, the person who puts his seal onto a document.

The time taken on each ring and the lack of skilled craftsmenmeans only a few people have the opportunity to own a seal ring.

To purchase a seal signet, with a crest attributed to your family name, creates for you and your family an heirloom of great inter-est and beauty.

Many crest rings are sold as Graduation or 21st Birthday presentsand to couples for the gentleman’s wedding ring. Available in Goldor Platinum, plain orstone set, most rings arein ladies and gentle-man sizes. At GeorgeKnight Jewellers in EastGrinstead, you can viewyour heraldic familycrest along with a rangeof signet rings.

A man who is not proud of his ancestry will never leave afterhim anything for which his posterity may be proud of him.

EAST GRINSTEAD MACULAR GROUP

22•CHaritY

Founded ten years

ago, the East Grinstead

Macular Group provides

a social and information

forum for its members,

all of whom have

macular disease, which is

age related, and results

in progressive sight loss.

There is no known cure

at present.

The Macular Group has

recently said goodbye

to its long term loyal

organiser, Sue Becket,

and is now being

managed by a new

committee formed by

the members. They are

expanding the scope and

activities of the group,

and are actively seeking

new members to join

them at their monthly

meetings. These are

held from 2pm to 4pm

on the first Tuesday of

the month, at the Glen

Vue Centre in Railway

Approach.

The Group is also

in need of extra

volunteer helpers to

assist members at

the meetings, and is

desperate for more

volunteer drivers to

take members to and

from the meetings.

Can you help? Just

a few hours a month

will really mean a lot

to this valuable and

friendly local group.

So come along and join in! For information about joining the group, phone Effie Visser on 01342 313854. To talk about volunteering, ring Loral Bennett on 01342 328080 or email

Make Goal attainable The most certain way to fall short of your New Year’s Resolutions is to make your goal unattainable. Be challenging but realistic.

Plan aheadFor each goal you have, write out a plan of action to reach each one individually.

Work out how to deal with temptationDecide how you will deal with the temptation to skip that exercise class or have one more cigarette or whatever your resolution is. This could include calling on a friend for help and inspiration. You could write down all the reasons you made the resolution in the first place and deal with temptation by reading your “reasons” list.

Talk about itDon’t keep your resolution a secret. Tell friends and family members who will be there to support your resolve to change yourself for the better or improve your health. The best case scenario is to find yourself someone else who shares your New Year’s resolution. You can motivate then each other.

Reward yourselfThis doesn’t mean that you can eat an entire box of chocolates if your resolution is to diet. Instead, celebrate your success by treating yourself to something that you enjoy that does not go against your resolution. If your resolution is to lose weight for instance then by sticking to your promise to eat well, for example, perhaps your reward could be going to the cinema with a friend.

Track your progressKeep track of each small success you make toward reaching your larger goal. Short-term goals are easier to keep, and small accomplishments will help keep you stay motivated. Instead of focusing on losing 30 pounds, for instance, focus on losing that first 5.

Don’t beat yourself upIf you have an occasional slip up then don’t worry that “all is lost”. Get yourself back on track and concentrate on the positives. Do the best you can each day, and take each day one at a time.

Keep tryingIf your resolution has totally run out of steam by mid-February, don’t despair. Start over again! There’s no reason you can’t make a “New Year’s resolution” any time of year.

GET FIT IN THE COMFORT OF YOUR OWN HOME

“Before I contacted Hire Fitness, I was not feeling good about myself, and was rather overweight. I am really busy and don’t have time to go to the gym. I hired 3 pieces of equipment for 3 months and Michael kindly threw in the

rower for free. It has been hard work but really satisfying to lose weight and to have a new outlook on life. Even my wife says that she quite fancies me, so that can’t be bad! Thank you Hire Fitness.” Jamie, Sussex

Michael Wall, established his Hire Fitness business 3 years ago & has built up a large portfolio of clients hiring & selling fitness equipment for use in the home He also supplies commercial equipment to gyms, offices, salons and studios.

People are increasingly choosing to hire in their homes for many reasons, most often for convenience & lack of time or inclination to go the gym. Parents can also look after their children whilst they exercise at home. All Hire Fitness models are of the highest quality, robust, good looking, with excellent computer functions. There is a hire- to- buy scheme where clients can try a machine prior to making a purchase. The Power Plate is his most popular model, it can burn 350 calories in 10 minutes. Other benefits include cellulite busting, improved blood circulation, stronger bones but most of all – improved toning.

MUSE Make-up

Have you Overplucked your Eyebrows? Can’t apply great make up?Lips lost their definition and thinning?Hate to be seen without your make-up on?

Which woman doesn’t want to look her best all the time?

Q: What’s the differencebetween a traditional tattooand Semi -permanent?

A-MaryAnne: A traditional tattoo is done to last, so inks are implanted deeply in lower layers of the dermis. Semi permanent Art be it make up or body, is worked only into the very upper layers of the dermis and with specially formulated pigments; it is a graze of colour and needs to be boosted annually or it will fade away.

Here are some of our customer testimonials:

“Just wanted to say how delighted I am with my eyebrows! They have settled down nicely into the perfect colour and shape. We went to Lanzarote

for a week and it was a god send to look made up by the pool with just my brows on! I feel like I have had a face lift at a fraction of the price and just look so much smarter and finished! I am a very happy customer and wish I

had done it years ago!” Caroline F

“I’m just dropping you a quick line to let you know all is well and I’m loving my new brows! You were of course completely right, my brows did need doing and the shape is amazing. The freedom of not having to wear

make-up and still looking ok is fantastic.” Heather K

“For years I struggled with drawing in my eyebrows and the time it took that I simply had to do something about it. I am so impressed with my eyebrows now that applying my make-up takes half the time and I look

great! Thank you MaryAnne.” Mimi P

Pretty permanent make-up addresses these problems giving you a beautifully groomed and defined look that can also take years off your appearance and solve your make-up problems.Plus It lasts from morning to

night, day after day, month after month!

This is a proven safe and easy way you can look better fast, without surgery. You can have more confidence and more time!
