    Inventory of the personal property of Charles Bratcher, Deceased, is as follows; to wit; 8 head of hogs, 14 head of cattle, 15 head sheep, a quantity of hogs, 1 waggon, 5 ploughs, 4 pair of gears, kitchen and house furniture, 6 bee stands, 1 set of Blacksmith tools, 25 head of geese, axes and hoes and mattocks, 8 sides of leather and 2 calf skins in the tan.

    Sept 10th 1883. A crop of corn in the field, the amount not ascertained, some stock in the woods, the quantity not known to those executors, some small grain in stocks, the wagon mentioned in this schedule, one half is owned by William Bratcher and the other by this estate.

    Jacksborough 3rd December 1821 The following is a schedule of the property of John Bratcher, Dec'd. Towit: Ten or fifteen acres of corn standing in the field, of which about four acres have been gathered and taken away by William and Charles Bratcher without leave. Two stacks of oats, some flax and cotton, two plows, two hoes, two handsaws, one barrel sugar, one drawing knife, one pointer, two chissels. The above articles are property which was not disposed of by the deceased neither by will nor deed or Gift, as the other property was. I Charles Bratcher, of said County, being sick and likely to die, but of sound mind and memory, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament. 1st of all I give and command my soul into the hands of God that give it and my body to be buried in decent Christian burial, not doubting but I shall receive the same again in the resurrection of the just at the judgment of the great day of the might power of God. And as it repects the good things of this world which it has been please God to bless me with in now I give and bequeath the same in the following manner and form. Item 1st, It is my will that all my just debts be paid by sale of my personal property and in these debts I wish to embrace the debts I am bound to two bound boys, say Robert Hardin & Isaac Hardin. Also my son for a mare I got from him to pay to Ridenour which amount is to be paid out of stocks and at the judgment of two or three men who knew the mare when I got her. Item 2nd, It is my will that my wife Nancy, have the house where I live including the buildings orchard and spring and one third of my land during her life and that she also my black my Ephriam and my black woman Christian to work for her and attend on her during her natural life. Item 3rd, It is my will that at the death of my wife, said Ephriam shall go free by his complying with the law of the land. Item 4th, It is my will that at the death of wife the black woman named Christian shall descend to my daughter Betsy. Item 5th, It is my will that my daughter Tempy and Polly have a saw apiece and that my daughter Betsy have two cows out of the stock on hands and that Tempy and Polly have a two years old horse brute out of the present stock.

    Item 6th, It is my will that all my land be equally divided among all my children, that is say Biddy, Jane, Wm, John, Nancy, Polly, Betsey & Tempy but that my daughter Polley is only to have a life estate in one eighth part of my land and at her death it is to descend to her son named Charles Bratcher. Item 7th, It is my will that my sons William and John shall execute this my last Will and Testament. Revoking all others and ratifying and confirming this as my only last Will and Testament. In Testimony Whereof I have herewith set my hand and seal this 7th day of August in the year of our Lord 1833. Bratcher STATE OF TENNESSEE CAMPBELL COUNTY County Court, September Session 1833. The last Will and Testament of Charles Bratcher, late of this County, was presented for probate. Whereupon appeared William Rogers and B. C. Bratcher, subscribing witnesses thereto and after being sworn depose and say that they saw the said Charles Bratcher sign, seal, publish and declare this to be his last will and testament and that he was of sound and disposing mind at the time of signing sealing, publishing and declaring the same to this best of their skill and knowledge. IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF I, William Carey, Clerk of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of said County have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said Court, office in Jacksborough this fifteenth day of September 1833. Between Benjamin Bratcher, of Campbell county, Tenn. of the one part, and William Sweat, of the same place, of the other part. Consideration $100.00 A certain piece or parcel of land in Campbell County, on the North side of Powels River in Henderson & Companys Powell Valley large survey in Lot M. Beginning on the lot line of the letter I at a stake, R. Bratchers corner, then with the line of the letter I Northwesterdly 66-1/2 poles to an ash, then a marked on a stake line to a cicamore on the bank of the river, thence with the river as it meanders to the lines a previous corner to the before mentioned Bratcher and Sweat, then 23 poles to the beginning, containing 10 acres, more or less, with all etc. In Testimony Whereof I have hereunto set my hand, etc. Benjamin Bratcher (Seal) In presence of Elijah Longmire Nathan Sweat State of Tennessee Campbell County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions. 2nd Sept. 1822 Test. Between Benjamin Bratcher of Campbell County, of the one part, and Charles Bratcher, of said County and State, of the other part. Consideration $300.00. A Certain Tract or Parcel of land containing 12-1/4 acres and 19 poles, lying and being in Campbell County, Tenn. in the lot in Henderson and Company large survey in Powels Valley and beginning on a hickory near a spring, thence N. 40 Deg. W. 74 poles to a stake, thence No. 71 Deg. East 57 poles to a stake, thence 4 Deg. West 54 poles to a stake near a large poplar, thence South E. West 22 poles and 22 links to the beginning, whit all etc. To Have and to Hold Etc. Benj.     Bratcher It is considered by the court & ordered that the said Nancy Parrot be allowed one hundred and thirty dollars against William Norvel & Caniday Bratcher the said Securities of William Bratcher on thier bond to Keep Harmless safe & acquit the county of Claiborne free from all charges & troubles for or be reasoning of the Birth maintenance & bringing up the said child sworn to have been begotten by William Bratcher & for whom the said Wm. Norvell & Caniday Bratcher were Securities as aforesaid in a bond given of the 4th of March 1806 & it is considered by the court that the said Nancey Parrot do recover against the said William Norvell & Caniday Bratcher, the Said Sum of one hundred and thrity dollars & accrued costs.

    John Rufsell vs. William Bratcher, Sr. Whereas it appears from satisfactory proof adduced to the Court, that the plaintiff on the 27th day of November 1807 recovered a Judgment before Benjamin McNutt Esquire a Justice of the Peace for this County against William Bratcher Senr. the defendant in this cause for the sum of Twenty dollars and sixty cents Debt and one dollars forty three and three fourths cents costs, for which Debt and costs it also appears, a writ of Fieri Facias was ifsued by the said Justice on the said 27th day of November 1807 and put into the hands of James McPheran a constable in and for our said County of Greene to do execution thereon, And whereas it appears from the return of the said Constable, that he delivered the said execution on a horse, and neglected to make sale thereof, as to render the monies due on said execution, Wherefore on motion of the said John Rufsell by George Duffield esquire his Attorney, It is considered by the Court that he recover against the said James McPheran, and James Lucky and John McCurry his securities, the said debt of Twenty dollars and Sixty cents together with the sum of Twenty cents interest due and accrued thereon since the rendition of said Judgment, and also his costs in that behalf expended and the defendants in mercy.

We the citizens of Campbell County having for Some years labored under the cerious [serious] Disadvantages, as it relates to the Seat of public justice in the Said County. Many of us having to ride twenty or twenty five Miles to the place ow Set apart for the holding of courts and for doing other business at a publick nature in Said County. the Said Seat having been unjustly Settled within four Miles of the line that Divids this County from Anderson County Whare as the Distance from said Seat to the line that Divds this County from Claiborne is Seventeen Miles, provided the line of Measurement Should be Drawn Directly up & Down Powels Valley in which the Said court Hous now Stands, this will be the Distance that the inhabitants will have to travel to Said Seat of publick Justice, for ages to us unknown. Shurly it is the nature of all human beings when in Distress to look up to Some Superior Power for help, and Knowing of no body of men So well authorized to administer to the necessities of the people cituate [situate] as we are at this time and hoping and believing that is the only Desire and Disposition of the legislature of Tennessee to Aleveate the Sufferings of your constituants and fellow citizens, We therefore petition your honorable body that you may be in your collective wisdom So provide that the Seat of public Justice for Campbell County May be Settled as near centeral as the cituation [situation] of the County will admit and we your petitioners as in Duty bound will ever Pray &&&c
