The holidays certainly go quickly but I am sure some parents think not quickly enough! Already we are in week 4 and classes are busy with teaching and learning. We have had a move of classes, with the Primary school reclaiming Room 12. The early childhood room is now located in Room 14. It has been a smooth transition and finally students are going to the right classes. We had our first incursion today with Mrs Marcondes organising a visit from the Wonderful Worm Waste Workshop. We had some fabulous students who were able to answer many of the hard questions asked by our presenter Vicky. Some students (and staff) were not so keen on touching the worms but everyone constructed a mini worm farm to take home. I have organised a parent morning tea for the 20 March and will be sending information home next week in regards to that. There will be a presenter from an NDIS provider (Focused Supports) presenting information in regards to funding and individual supports. This year, we fondly welcome our new students: Ilham, Adelina and Moaz in kindy; Christian in Year 2; and Luke, Rooke and Thomas in Year 6. I am sure they will make many memories and new friends during the school year. Mrs Paterson is currently on extended leave and I am filling in for her as full time Principal until her return. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns or questions. Kind regards Jennifer Oversby

FROM the PRINCIPAL Welcome back to another year. The

holidays certainly go quickly but I

am sure some parents think not

quickly enough!

Already we are in week 4 and

classes are busy with teaching and

learning. We have had a move of

classes, with the Primary school

reclaiming Room 12. The early

childhood room is now located in

Room 14. It has been a smooth

transition and finally students are

going to the right classes.

We had our first incursion today

with Mrs Marcondes organising a

visit from the Wonderful Worm

Waste Workshop. We had some

fabulous students who were able to

answer many of the hard questions

asked by our presenter Vicky. Some

students (and staff) were not so

keen on touching the worms but

everyone constructed a mini worm

farm to take home.

I have organised a parent morning

tea for the 20 March and will be

sending information home next

week in regards to that. There will

be a presenter from an NDIS

provider (Focused Supports)

presenting information in regards to

funding and individual supports.

This year, we fondly welcome our

new students: Ilham, Adelina and

Moaz in kindy; Christian in Year 2;

and Luke, Rooke and Thomas in

Year 6. I am sure they will make

many memories and new friends

during the school year.

Mrs Paterson is currently on

extended leave and I am filling in for

her as full time Principal until her

return. Please do not hesitate to

contact me if you have any

concerns or questions.

Kind regards

ROOM 13 CLASS PAGE Fun in the Sun! The Room 13 students have been making the most of

the sunshine by doing lots of water play activities,

early morning walks around the oval, learning to bal-

ance and play on the log playground, in the sandpits

and playing in the many other playgrounds around

the school. May summer never end!!

Yummy! Room 13 enjoys making fruit smoothies on hot days. We use strawberries, banana and honey to fla-vour the milk. Delicious!

ROOM 14 CLASS PAGE

We have had a great start to the term and the students have settled very well into their new classroom environment. We have welcomed three new kindy students who have eagerly been coming into the classroom and playing with equipment and following set routines.

The students have been involved in activities and discussions about themselves by painting with their hands, making different body movements and also discussing their school routines and belongings. We have seen positive interactions between all the children and they are often playing alongside each other or helping each other.

The students have been gardening on a regular basis and have been listening to instructions on how to plant and care for the plants. Afternoon fruit time is looked forward to and it’s a pleasure to see the children using correct sentence structure to request a piece of fruit. During this time, we encourage turn taking, waiting and sharing.

ROOM 15 CLASS PAGE

It has been a busy start to the school year in Room 15, as we get to know our new classmates and

settle into our routines, surroundings and the challenges of a new grade.

The students have quickly come together as a group and we have begun to see friendships and social contact forming between several children. It is really heart-warming to see a child approach another child in friendship. So far this term, we have been shopping for cooking ingredients and then we have been busy cooking,

with many students mastering the art of making biscuits! Well done Room 15!

Challenging their critical thinking and creativity are Stem projects using “Beebot” technology for coding.

Room 15 have also worked on problem solving projects using recycled material.

Well done room 15 - what a great start of the year!

Recycle Program Last year, our school won a competition on the planetark.org website for the “School’s Recycle Right Challenge”. We entered the challenge with our classrooms recycling program, which involved activities using recycled materials. The program also included excursions to the recycling centre at Tamala Park in Mindarie in term 4 of 2018. We won a recycled bench for our school! Thankyou to Mr Fawcett for helping us by putting our new bench together. We are very happy and we will definitely continue the recycling program this year!!
