AboutPENETRATING THE BARRIERS TO ADVANCED AND FUTURISTIC CARE
The East – West MeRC Trust not only helps patients but has a multi-pronged approach of help-ing doctors and students in the country. We not only help students receive fellowships in the best hospitals abroad, but also help them fund their stay as well as all other expenses asso-ciated with their course. However, these are not the only upcoming medical practitioners that
are looked after by our organization. Back at home, we host a yearly conference and invite the most experienced surgeons and the most advanced implant companies from all over the world
to share their innovative ideas and teach them to our youth.
History PromiseGoalsDr. Vinod Agrawal & Dr. Rekha Agrawal have dedicated their life towards improving patient care and were disturbed by the num-ber of patients who were reject-ed appropriate medical care due to lack of funds. They therefore, founded the trust in Mumbai, In-dia on February 2015 to ensure that patients would not be turned away from hospitals due to lack of funds. Since then this trust has already organised an Operative Spine Forum which was attended by both national and international faculty and was a huge success.
The trust peomises to keep fighting for its cause which in-volves betterment of Indian medical students and patients. We promise to fight for peo-ple who are in desperate need of medical care but cannot af-ford it. We promise to stuggle against the programs and offers that students are denied due to their weak financial background. We promise to not rest until all our goals are met. We look forward to your help so that we could accomplish our goals in the shortest time.
The goal of this trust and the Op-erative Spine Forum is to promote health and well-being of relative-ly unaffording patients as well as to educate young and upcoming physicians and surgeons and in this case, curious orthopedic sur-geons who are exploring the field of spine surgery. The institution intends to help In-dians both locally and abroad.The ultimate goal of the trust is to ensure that no patient is turned away from hospitals and no med-ical studnet is turned away from institutions due to lack of funds.

Organising Secretary
Dr. Vinod AgrawalThe Organising Secretary for the Operative Spine Forum 2017 is Dr. Vinod
Agrawal, Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon based in Mumbai, India. He is the Founder and Trustee of the East West Medical Research Trust and was the organising secretary of the conference in 2015 as well.
He has been practicing Orthopedics since more than 25 years and has a spe-cialisation in spine surgery. He is an expert at Minimally Invasive and Endoscopic Spine Surgery. He is particulary enthusiastic about hosting such a conference which allows a meeting of all the best minds in spine surgery from all over India and allows them to dis-cuss possible upgradations and technology that is used in spine surgery today.
Facilitating innovation and modernisation in the field of medicine has been a pas-sion of Dr. Agrawal and this very thought bought this initiative to fruition. He is excited to meet you all at the second installment of the Operative Spine Forum at Nanvati Hospital in May, 2017.

Dr. Neel Anand Dr. Suken ShahDr. Munish GuptaDr. Neel Anand is a leading expert in the field of Minimal-ly Invasive Spine Surgery. He is a actively involved in groundbreaking research and is practicing consultant and Director of Spine Trau-ma at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Cal-ifornia. He wanted to give back to the Indian commu-nity and wanted even the non-affording patients in India to receive the best in spinal care and that is why he chose to assemble this program.Dr. Neel has was also in-volved in developing the Medtronics Spine Naviga-tion System and has multi-ple other implant patents.
Suken A. Shah, MD, Division Chief of the Spine and Sco-liosis Service and Clinical Fellowship Director, is a pe-diatric orthopaedic surgeon at the Nemours/Alfred I. du-Pont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware and serves as Associate Profes-sor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Pediatrics at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson Universi-ty. Dr. Shah is certified by the American Board of Or-thopaedic Surgery. In 2014, he was named one of the Top 17 Pediatric Orthope-dic Surgeons in the United States by Orthopedics This Week. We look forward to hosting him.
Dr. Gupta is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chief of Spine Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Gupta specializes in adult and pediatric spine sur-gery, with a focus on com-plex spinal reconstructive surgery for treatment of all spinal deformities of the lumbar, thoracic and cer-vical regions. He has over 23 years of experience in treating spinal deformities. Dr. Gupta also specializes in spinal revision surgery and spinal tumors.This will be Dr. Gupta’s first attendance at the Operative Spine Forum and we hope for it to be very successful.

The Operatuve Spine Forum will be held on 6th and 7th May, 2017 at Nanavati Super Spe-cialty Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai. These two days will include a series of complex surger-ies performed by both National as well as International Faculty using the latest surgical instruments, implants and techniques. Seminars by experts in Spine Surgery would also be conducted. 200 young orthopedic spine surgeons will be invited to see the live relay of the surgeries being performed on the Operation Theatre as well as ask experts questions
on their techniques and other medical beliefs.
