Day 1 – Tuesday 27th March: Arrival - Montpellier

4.30pm: Arrival at Béziers Cap d'Agde Airport

(Recommended flight with Ryanair leaving Manchester Airport at 1.20pm)

Drive to Montpellier & check-in at the hotel

6.30pm – 8.30pm: Visit of the Historical Centre of Montpellier

Discover this vibrant city and the architecture of its buildings, including the Faculty of Medicine founded in the 13th century.

8.30pm: Free evening in the city

Day 2 – Wednesday 28th March: Let’s discover the Camargue

9.00am: Check-out from the hotel.

9.30pm-10.30am Cathédrale de Maguelone

Lost between the land and the sea, this former church will take you back in time whilst offering a stunning panorama.

11.15am-2.30pm: Aigues-Mortes

Tour of the traditional farmer's market Visit of this historical city made famous by King Saint-Louis' crusades

Tour of the city walls to enjoy the views on the medieval architecture & on the salty marsh around

3.30pm-5.00pm: Arles Interactive walk in the footsteps of Van Gogh.

From the 'Pont de Langlois' to the 'Arènes', discover this town through the eyes of the famous Dutchman

Drive to Nîmes. Check-in at the hotel & Free evening in the city centre

Day 3 – Thursday 29th March: From the Roman Empire to the Middle Ages

9.30am-12.00am: Nîmes Tour of this city once at the heart of a Gallo-Roman province - including iconic landmarks of the era

2.00pm-3.00pm: Mas des Tourelles Visit of a wine cellar situated on an archaeological site,

where wine is still produced following old Roman recipes. Followed by a wine tasting.

3.30pm-5.30pm: Le Pont du Gard The largest Roman relic outside of Italy – a true engineering & architectural masterpiece.

World Heritage site

6.30pm: Evening in Avignon Guided tour of this prestigious medieval city, once the Pope's headquarters.

Followed by a free evening in the city

Day 4 – Friday 30th March: Across the Alpilles

9.30am: Fontvieille

Walk up to Alphonse Daudet’s windmill, the inspiration for his most famous works, followed by a visit of the Moulin des Bédarrides, producing olive oil

10.30am-11.30am: La petite Provence du Paradou

Musée de santons – discover a very typical Provençal tradition

12.00noon-3.00pm: Les Beaux de Provence

The story of the medieval Provence unravels as you stroll along the narrow streets of this perched village and visit the old castle of the “Seigneurs des Beaux”

5.00pm-10.30pm Evening in Arles

The Easter Friday marks the beginning of the “Féria d’Arles” Immerse yourself in the festive spirit of the town at the sound of the traditional local brass bands (peñas)

Day 5 – Saturday 31st March: Back to the seaside

9.00am: Check-out from the hotel

10.00am-12.00am: Domaine du Mas Rouge

Visit of the cellar and explanations on their wine-making, followed by a tasting including the famous ‘Muscat de Frontignan’

12.30pm - 2.00pm: Free time in Sète

City centre or seaside, depending on the weather

2.00pm: Drive back to Béziers Cap d’Agde airport

(Recommended departure to Manchester Airport with Ryanair – 4.55pm)

Price/person: £ 250

The stay includes:

• Tutors from DeLC who will help you to practise French for the duration of the stay.

• Transport within France (fuel and toll charges included). • 3 nights of accommodation in a shared bedroom for 2/3 people (breakfast

included). • Entries to all activities mentioned in the programme.

The stay does not include:

• Plane tickets to and from Béziers Cap d’Agde Airport (return trip to/from Manchester Airport recommended)

• Lunches and dinners. • All other optional activities not mentioned in the programme.

Terms & conditions:

• Registration deadline is 15/12/2017; • There must be a minimum of 8 participants for the trip to take place; • The maximum number of participants is 16; • Fees must be paid on registration to secure the place; • Fees will be refunded if the minimum number of participants has not been

reached by 15/12/2017; • Fees are not refundable under any circumstances once the trip has been

confirmed; • Flights should only be reserved once the trip has been confirmed as going

ahead. DeLC is not responsible for the flight arrangements of participants; • Each participant should ensure that his/her passport is valid and up to date;

For non-EU nationals, please check your visa requirements; • Participants must be covered by their own insurance. DeLC will not be held

responsible for any incident or loss that occurs before and during the trip; • Participants are advised to obtain and bring a European Health Insurance

Card (available for free on request), which usually entitles to healthcare under the same terms as those of a native in the European country you are going to; Participants not eligible for the EHIC must ensure that they are covered for this trip.
