In 2016, a prank was pulled when a famous soccer player was reported to have switched teams; what was funny is the writer of the story was lirpa sloof (April fools spelled backwards). Another example is when Sports Illustrated said they had found a pitcher, George Plimpton, who could throw a baseball 168 mph! People are even selling happy Easter April Fool’s Day T-Shirts. EASTER on April Fool’s Day? April 1, 2018

Easter on April Fool’s Day? When I first checked the calendar and the date I thought it was a joke. Easter in my lifetime has never fallen on this date; the last time this happened was in 1956, and the next time it will be in 2029. Of course, I don’t remember Ash Wednesday falling on Valentine’s Day either! April Fool’s Day is typically a day of jokes and hoaxes throughout history. While there have been famous pranks and hoaxes throughout history the Bible makes it clear that while Easter is on April Fool’s Day the resurrection is no joke! 1 Corinthians 1:18 (NIV) says “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” The word for foolishness in the Greek is where we get our word moron from. To those that are perishing the message of the cross is moronic or nonsense; To those being saved though it is the power of God.

Easter or April Fool’s? Everyone will choose one or the other. The grave is empty, Jesus is risen— won’t you come and see? By His Grace, Pastor Randy

Thank you to all who made Sunday’s Easter Cantata a wonderful worship experience! Thank you choir for your love for the Lord and your faithfulness in coming each week to give of your talents. You bless me! It is one of my favorite times of the week! Suzanne we would have never learned the music without you! Thank you Adam Crawford and Ken Cole for flawlessly running our sound and projection! Thank you to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who with-out you we would have nothing to celebrate. You were in it all from the beginning. Thank you congregation, deacons and pastor for your encouragement. Thank you also for your giving financially to the church which supports our music ministry. I look forward to celebrating His resurrection with all of you on Sunday! —Kim Vehaun
