NEXT SERMON SERIES: Polyphony
“From Mourning to Dancing”
: a musical composition with two or more voices or parts, each with an independent melody
: consisting of many voices or sounds
Words are powerful. We use them to share ideas, to voice feelings and concerns, to connect with each other. Words are easy to misunderstand. They can harm as well as help. The same word can convey different meanings to different persons in different situations. The same word spoken by many voices can create confusion and build barriers. In these sermons, we work to “remaster” some common words we use as Christians. For some, their meaning has been distorted by disparate voices and damaging use. Join us as we reclaim these words – for good.

And so we sing…(UMH #261 “Lord of the Dance”)
I danced in the morning when the world was begun, and I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun,and I came down from heaven and I danced on the earth. At Bethlehem I had my birth.
Dance, then, wherever you may be;I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.And I’ll lead you all wherever you may be,and I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.
...And all the company of heaven we praise your name and join in their unending hymn:Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
resurrected, today ascended to the glory of heaven! Alleluia, Oh Lord!
...And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving, as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith, saying:Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.
(“Lord of the Dance” verse 5)They cut me down and I leapt up high,I am the life that’ll never, never die;I’ll live in you if you’ll live in me;I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.
Dance, then, wherever you may be;I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.And I’ll lead you all wherever you may be,and I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.
