Aygawm (Wom

Arxdukanga Site of evil, nasty things Ill work on later.

Aygawm (Wom. Dragonfields) Womaw royal burial place. Here, a complex of huge, circular grass barrows linked by stonelined subterranean halls covers an area of about sixtyfour square miles. Haututumkodur stands at the center and serves as the resting place for the golden drake that helped educate and unite the founders of Womawas Drus. The Avari of Helcarth refer to the place as Angulkaparsi. Though the Elves regularly pass by the area, they are careful to respect its sacred boundaries. Ironically, few Hildor ever see the place. Most turn away when they see one of the sixteen laen Dragon statues that mark the border of the burial ground.

Aza Shay tribe living between Lygar Kraw and ster Kryl, and often used in battle by one side or another in the long struggle between the Blue Wizards.

Brd Originally a small kingdom founded by Womaw colonists in the earky Second Age, Brd became one of the most important provinces of the Lochan Empire throughout the late Second and Third Ages. Following the final dissolution of the Empire in the 17th-century, Brd actively engaged in empire-building, thwarted by its equally aggressive neighbors and the overwhelming might of Waw.

Chorthul IV Womaw emperor in 1144 SA, he bribed the Hsuang-tu Fale tribes and their leader Mar to leave the Womaw Empire in peace. Chorthul IV was from the Ml Dynasty.

Cmonemor Island-realm of Elves in south-western Middle-earth. Ruled by the parents of Elorior. The island was a virtual paradise, and not many Elves bothered to sail West despite the enmity of Dwars Waw in the Second and Third Ages; the only notable time of departure was just after settlers from Waw seized the isle in 1507 TA.

Codya Originally founded as a Vulmaw colony, Codya was the youngest and westernmost of the Womawrelated realms; in the Third Age and beyond it was dominated by a mix of Haradrim, Jop, Mmakani and Sindi. It is positioned north of the mouth of the Bay of Ormal, near the southeastern tip of the Ered Harmal. A hilly, wooded land, it shares the Jop peninsula with Jojojopo, which lies to the east (across the Jop Kneel).

Cuivinen Cuivinen was once situated between the steep western flank of the Orocarni and the eastern shore of the Inland Sea of Helcar. It served as the birthplace and original homeland of the immortal Firstborn. Essentially torn apart during the apocalyptic change after the Great Battle at the end of the First Age, the Inland Sea and the land of Cuivinen remain nearmythical locales.

Daldunair Large lake in Lurs Vorganis settled by Avar Elves, and later ruled indirectly by Alatar.

Dalpygis Comprising the eastern part of the central Talathrant basin, Dalpygis is a cool, rich, grassy steppe land located in heart of Endor. It is a volatile area beset by frequent migrations, wars, and plagues. The indigenous Aharinspeaking groups often find themselves subjugated or confined to the surrounding hills.

Ganjag Small border-kingdom between Ralian and the northern provinces of the Lochan Empire, Ganjag achieved its greatest prominence under King Ksghar in the 12th-century TA. It is unattested in earlier times, and seems to disappear after the 19th-century TA.

Gkien [Gak] Situated north and east of the Womaw Reach, the easternmost arm of the Orocarni (Q. Red Mountains), Gkien is a large, rugged peninsula. Thick hardwood forests occupy most of its rocky coasts, while swift, chilly rivers and extremely deep lakes dominate the inland areas along the mountain flanks. Ceer Gak, a great swamp surrounding the mouth of the Gak River (Wm. Aceer Gak), lies in the southeasternmost corner of this ancient Womaw homeland. Like the rest of the old corelands of Womawas Drus which includes Wm Shryac, Kiangnan, and Maekche Gak is named for the tribe that first settled its cool but temperate hills. Their tribal center at Alk-Gak on Leer Gak still serves as one of the Womaw's four capitals. Great hunters and fisherman, the Gakaw are the most revered Womaw line.

Haen Situated along the northeastern flank of the Orocarni, Haen is a cold but temperate peninsula surrounded by the Weer Womaw (Wm. Womaw Gulf). Haenac Tataweer serves as the provincial capital, but the Governor of Haen lives sixtyfour miles to the north, at the Eight Tiered Hall above the watery Haen Steps. Established by the Aokos family (the most revered of Haen's original families) the hall is a major center of Womarinbased scholarship.

Helkanen [Helcarth] Situated around a long, exceedingly deep lake tucked into the steep western flank of the Orocarni and a remnant of the nowlost Inland Sea of Helcar, Helcarth is a mysterious Avar realm. Legends suggest that it constitutes part of ancient Cuivinen, the old coastal home of the Quendi. Helcarth's Elven overlords live in a beautiful, pastural land characterized waterfalls and streamside parks. A great circular earthwall surrounds their kingdom. Thus, the Avari remain apart from the Hildor. The three entries into Helcarth all follow long, heavilyguarded channels and passageways. Only the Eastgate, the Doors of Morning, are kept unlocked. They open toward Moinarlin (Av. Dear Exalted Mere), a pool fed by three waterfalls and the birthplace of the river Cuivisr. The Doors of Morning actually open onto a grasscovered road that winds under the great cataract spills out from Moinarlin. The fall forms a watery arch that gives birth to a virtually perpetual rainbow. The Cuivisr is one of three major streams emptying into the great lake of Helkanen. Helkanen is all that remains of the Gaer Helkar. Its cold shores form the core of the Avari's guarded homeland. Helkanen was long ruled by Dardarien, an evil queen allied to Khaml and Sauron.

Helquisi Helcar Sael lies along a narrow coastal shelf on the eastern flank of the Orocarni. It comprises the rich and wellprotected Saeltze Valley, which once served as the principal eastern route into Cuivinen. The uppermost part of this wide river vale is called Parth rulis, the Field of Firehoney because of its nectarrich flowers. The Cirith rulis is the main pass through the central Orocarni. It leads east and then north to Moinarlin (Wom. Monarlan) a great collection of waterfalls that spill into a pool that feeds the river Cuivisr and the great lake of Helkanen in Helcarth. rulis is actually a crossshaped vale. The centermost portion is home to the hallowed Aygawm, the Dragonfields, where the Womaw bury their Highkings, the Hionvori. Tatamrilis is the provincial capitol.

Hildrien Hildrien (S. Land of the Followers) was the birthplace of Men (Hildor) in the First Age. Now mostly submerged beneath the Gulf of Hildrien, it lay south of Cuivinen, in the Farthest East of Middleearth. Its southern boundaries skirt the northern flanks of the Mountains of the Wind. Ralian lies to the west.

Horl Central province in the northern Lochan Empire. Horl is located south of Ralian, along the western flank of the Orosli. Inhabited by a Horlekspeaking people, it is a rich, temperate plateau.

Jendiar Jendiar is situated along the southwestern flank of the Orocarni. It is occupied by Linerinspeaking farmers and herders. Best known for its vast system of subterranean wells and channels, it yields large, steady crops of grain and hearty fruits.

Jojojopo Jojojopo lies at the southern end of the Ered Harmal, on a peninsula sundering the Shay Bight to the east from the Bay of Ormal to the west. Blessed with countless harbors, a mild climate, and a wide variety of mineralrich landscapes, its Narnerinspeaking Jop residents have enjoyed relative stability and prosperity since the early part of the middle of the Second Age. Kilwa Kisiwani was technically a part of Jojojopo.

Jop Kneel Mountain range on the Jop peninsula, dividing Codya from Jojojopo; the range extends into the sea, forming a series of islands, including Myrn Shryac or Kilwa Kisawani.

Kaish Hilly and forested land north of the Ams Breacna and east of the Orosuli. Tsdan from VShrang conquered Kaish in S.A. 32348. There, in Shelflands east of the southern Orosli, they established the K'Prur culture. Their Narnerinspeaking descendants reside throughout the heavilywooded Proric peninsula, while intermingling with various local groups. Tseml, Kil, Kiv, Kfig, and Hent comprise the area's major towns. A province of the Lochan Empire on the northwestern peninsula of Lochas Drus, in the 16th-century TA Kaish seceded from the Lochan Empire and managed to hold its own against the failing Dral line and its allies. Kaish under King Zemkar ul nearly succeeded in gaining the Empire when he married the last Dral Hionvars widow. By the end of the Third Age, however, the region was known as Old Kaish, a backwater region.

Kansu Womaw region, divided normally into two provinces, Khaeltan and Khitan.

Kargagis Ahar Kargagis Ahar is a vast grassland in eastcentral Middleearth. Located on an 3,000 foot high plateau, it lies about halfway between the Talathrant and Endor's eastern highlands. It is populated by numerous Ahar tribal confederations. Most are seminomadic herders.

Karn Ord Situated along the southeastern flank of the Orocarni, west of the river Orosr, Karn Ord is populated by a mix of Aegaw and Ubain peoples. Most speak Womarin, although many in the western highlands speak an old Linerin dialect. It is often a province of the Womaw Empire.

Khaeltan Northeastern province of the Womaw Empire, bordered on the north by the sea and in the west by the Orocarni. Often independent, the swamps of northern and eastern Kael remain untamed.

Khitan Khitan, or Kael, is located just east of the central Orocarni (Q. Red Mountains). It lies along the southwestern shores of the Weer Womaw, the gulf west of the Womaw Sea (Wm. Oweer Womaw). Famous for its Stonewalks, four covered highways, it is a civilized and wellsettled land. Third Age In 1635, Pallandos protg Li Ko-Yung founded the Liao Dynasty in Khitan; he had originally been invited into the Empire to hold the Shay and Jurchaen at bay, but rebelled when he perceived that the Womaw Emperors could not oppose him. In 2114, the Jurchaen overran the Liao under Prince Yeh-l Ta-shih, who led his people to Liao-ga Kra, the future Lygar Kraw, the kingdom of Pallando.

Kiangnan [Kiangsi, Cuivac Wmaw] One of the oldest Hildor realms, Cuivac Wmaw is the ancestral home of the Womac people one of the four original Womaw tribes. It comprises the southeast portion of the great peninsula known the Quendi as Cuivistar. This cool, grassy land is graced with rich soil, fine harbors, and a surprisingly moderate climate.

Kilwa Kisiwani Royal Vulmaw city on an island south of Jojojopo, otherwise called Myrn Shryac; Kilwa is also the name of the island, which is an extension of the Jop Kneel. Myrn Shryac was founded by Vulmaw migrants in the mid-Second Age, and quickly became an important center for trade in the Bay of Ormal. Kilwa was also an important trading centre between the Mmakan, Greater Harad, the Lochan empires and the Womaw throughout the Third Age. It towered above the sea, and much of its wealth came from the gold mines at Sofala in Codya, which it controlled; this control was threatened by Wlim raiding ships using sorcery in 1711 TA (Gold). It was ruled by an Hionvar, the Hionvar of Codya, at times; during times of Lochan power it was ruled by a governor appointed by the Lochan Emperor. Later known as Meronshrya under the Jpi dynasty called the Khi.

Ko-sang Womaw village in Lygar Kraw, orginally founded by refugees from Khitan under Yeh-l Ta-shih in the Womaw Empire. It was one of Pallandos main source of manpower throughout the late Third and Fourth Ages.

Kosth Leer The largest island chain in the Romenar, Kosth Leer is comprised of nine major, and hundreds of minor, isles. The archipelago delineates the northern boundary of the Womaw Sea (Wm. Oweer Womaw). To the west is the Weer Womaw while the frigid Helkar lies to the north. Unlike Uiven to the south, Kosth Leer is surrounded by cold, shifting currents and strong north winds. It is a rugged and nearly treeless domain populated by tough Womaw seafarers. Tatamaac Pvaan, the capital, houses no more than ten thousand residents.

Kbor Sd Kbor Sd lies along the northeastern edge of Endor's broad Eastplain. A hardwood forest separates it from Iskah to the northwest. Its northern and eastern boundaries are defined by the vast taiga forest known as the Illuin Wood. The Sea of Illuin is situated about two hundred miles to the north, on the other side of the primeval woodland. The Kbor, a collection of Mornerinspeaking herders and trappers, reside throughout the cool, grassy Sd fields. They are relatives of the Rbor peoples, who make their home in the higher lands to the southwest.

Kykurian Kyn Kykurian Kyn lies east of Rhn, above the western banks of the Talathrant. A vast grassland characterized by intermittent collections of rolling hills, it is populated by a host of evershifting Ulgathic and Ioradjaspeaking peoples. The former group, which dominates westernmost Kyn and eastern Rhn, were known throughout Gondor as the Waineasterlings. The latter are often referred to as the Balchoth.

Laeg Gak Seat of the ancient princes of Gkien in the Womaw Empire, built on the shores of a great lake.

Lchas Drs [Dralian Empire] The Dominion of the Lochaw encompassed all of the areas once ruled by the lords of Lochas proper; the Lochans were descendents of Womaw colonists who reached Vulm Shryac under Shon Dral and his son Woma. Administrative units were originally organized along Womaw cultural lines and basically correspond to traditional ethnic areas; this system had been instituted by the first Dral Hionvar, Woma Dral (see Woma Dral), and lasted until his descendent Oervik Dral was driven from the throne and forced to commit suicide in 27 TA. The Dral clan under Demik Dral had again taken control of the empire in 1148 TA; his descendents ruled until the coming of the Shadow in 1617. Lochas Drus was not the great power it had been, however, and the Empire was reeling in the face of renewed Wlim aggression. Dwar had returned to Waw in the 11th century TA and convinced his people to throw off Lochan rule, both on Waw and in the ancestral homeland of Wl. In 1507 they conquered the last of the southeastern islands, the Elven sanctuary of Cmnemor, and Waw declared itself the center of the Second Wlim Empire in 1617. The Dog-lords ships began assailing the Lochan coasts, raiding deep into Wl and Brd.

The last Lochan Hionvar, Oervik-dem Dral, died leading his forces into battle against Kaish in 1659. His army consisted chiefly of his own personal forces, the men of Brd, allied with troops from Horl and Unvirnay; auxiliary troops from Wl marched beside them. Kaish had seceded from the empire, allying itself with an occupation force from Waw. Oervik-dem was a fine military tactician, but he did not allow for the treachery of the Wlim, who joined their distant kinsmen from Waw on the second day of battle. Caught between two armies, the Lochans were crushed, and Oervik-dems head was taken back to Waw as a trophy.

Oervik-dem had three daughters and an infant son. One of the daughters was married to the lord of Wl, the other two were hostages at the court of Dwar. Oervik-dems widow, Chandica, tried to rally the Lochan court around her infant son and install herself as regent until he could come of age. It was not to be. The Lord of Kaish, Zemkar ul, pursued his advantage, raiding the Brd court and carrying Chandica back to Kaish. He forcibly married her and laid claim to the Lochan throne, only to be crushed as a rebel by the combined forces of Waw and Wl.

After the division of the Lochaw empire in T.A. 1794, various successor kingdoms and confederations arose, many of which were based on ancient cultural divisions or claims. While striving to eliminate any obvious vestiges of their longstanding subserviency, they often retained the names and borders bequeathed by their Lochan speaking overlords.

Lu Tr Su Lu Tr Su stretches across most of the northern part of Endor's Eastplain. Covered with short grasses, it makes relatively poor pastures. Still, scattered tribes of shepherds and big game hunters call the area home. Nearly all speak Tyran.

Lurs Vorganis [Tarim Basin, Sinkiang] Also called Sinkiang; plains between the Talathrant River and the Orocarni Mountains. First and Second Ages Covering much of the northeastern part of Endor's Eastplain, Lurs Vorganis is the homeland of the Vorgani, a Tyranspeaking tribal confederation renowned for their ability to exploit and slaughter vast numbers of large game. Huge herds of grazing beasts live throughout the region. Late Third and Fourth Ages Tarim is an increasingly dry desert place, but in the Second Age and most of the Third it was home to many cities along the Silk Road, or Tien Shan. The Womaw gained control of it after the journies of Chang Chien (3001-14 and 3024 SA), ruling the region from 3027 until early in the Third Age Pan Chao was the most celebrated governor of the region (3244-55). The Womaw built garrisons along the trade route, one of which lasted in Lygar Kraw until the Fourth Age. The Womaw regained control of the region in 326-27 TA, but lost it for good after the Battle of Atlach in 1372, when the Chey defeated a Womaw army. A Shayn army attempted to regain control in 2656 TA, but Alatar and Pallando crushed thier forces in the Battle of the White Warrior.

Lygar Kraw Kingdom of Pallando in eastern Middle-earth. Situated about three hundred miles west of the Orocarni, Lygar Kraw is a marshy land. Swamps and ponds dot its lowland reaches, which are sundered by dense hills. Two fen forests (one in the east and the other in the west) frame the territory. Most of Lygar Kraw's Linerinspeaking people lived in fortified hill towns, where they engage in a broad array of crafts and subsist on a varied diet; hunting, fishering, gardening, and animal husbandry are all practiced. Pallandos Realm The historical kingdom was founded in 2114 TA by the Khitan prince Yeh-l Ta-shih, following the defeat of his people by the Jurchaen; Pallando settled here in about 2300 and founded the kingdom of Famardi. The heraldic device of Lygar Kraw under Pallando was a spinning wheel on charcoal grey; his personal guard were the fearsome Black Crows under the ghost Li Ko-Yung. The borders of Lygar Kraw were marked by ebony obelisks with white letters, with Pallandos power demarcated in Sindarin, Quenya, Logathig and Womawas; by the Fourth Age Pallandos human guard was composed of Sarbardar tribesmen. Landmarks in Lygar Kraw included an ancient Womaw road tower, Amon Rvasta, an Elven flet-village and a Womarin town, Ko-sang. Lygar Kraw remained untouched by the ages, and was home to many historical marvels; Sir John Mandeville reports his own journey through the demon-haunted place in his Travels.

Maekche [Mak] Mak is the easternmost region on the Endorean mainland, and constitutes the eastern coreland of Womawas Drus. It is often independent from the rest of the Empire, with its own distinctive customs and traditions.

Mark Mountain Monastery Ringlist monastery run by the immortal Tem Shal, which preserved a footprint of the Balrog Mar; the monastery was built at the spot where Chortul IV bribed the Balrog to leave the Womaw Empire in peace.

Mark Mountain Pass Major route over the Orocarni into the Womaw Empire, beginning at Pan Chao and ending in Xian; a major monastery run by the immortal Tem Shal was situated in the pass among huge religious murals.

Ralian Ralian, the great Lakelands of southeastern Endor stretch east and south from the rolling highlands between the Orocarni and the Orosli. A variety of reddishbrownskinned, Ralekspeaking peoples occupy this rich, hilly region. The great river Loralian rises in its northern highlands. The Ralek Kingdoms Cabe is the oldest and wealthiest of Ralian's five tribal realms. It is bounded by the Loralian in the west and the river Kankanan in the east and south. It extends as far north as the upper shores of Clocaban, a lake on the river known as Locaban. Cabe shares its name with its chief city, which is in turn named for the Tife Cabian people. Able and sophisticated farmers, they raise wheat, rye, greens, and tubors. Fish comprise the bulk of their meat intake. The city of Cabe is situated on a grassy hill in the southwestern part of the Tife Cabian claim. Walled with five beautifullycarved palisades built out of laquered ironwood, it is a compact and imposing settlement. Its corduroy streets and multileveled bridges connect a broad array of large wooden structures, many of which have survived over two millenia. Kankanan, the tribal center of the Tife Kankanian folk, lies only fortymiles southwest of Cabe. Situated on the river Kankanan and connected to the Loralian by a broad canal, it is a major river port. It is center of trade and commercial fishing. Ralian's other three tribes include the Tife Lenian, the Rale Cuvian, and the Rale Bursian. Tife Lenian lands lie in the far south, below the Clolene, and adjoin Horl lands. Rale Cuivian territory stretches north and east from Clocaban, as far as the shores of the Romenar. It is the largest of Ralian's five realms. The next largest, the Rale Bursian claim, is in the north and northwest. Known as the Land of Swirling Waters, birthplace of Ringlin Sindacollo, Ralian often acted as a buffer between invading nomads from the north and the settled lands of the Lochan Empire. Ralian disappears after the 20th-century TA.

Rlfandas Rlfandas is a collection of islands located off the coast of northeastern Middleearth, at the junction of the Romenar and Helkar. The Weer Womaw (Wm. Womaw Gulf) lies to the south. The five hundred mile long archipelago is actually an isolated section of what was once the northern Orocarni. Tall, red peaks still rise from the center of Vor Rlfandas, the chain's main island. The northernmost home of Womarinspeaking peoples, Rlfandas has long been occupied; however, few folk live on any of the smaller isles. The vast majority of the areas hunters, trappers, and fishermen reside by the sheltered eastern shores of Vor Rlfandas. Rlaalk (the center of the Rl and Obaar clans of the Ruulurk tribe) is the region's chief city and traditional capital.

Rbor Rbor is located to the northwest of Helcarth and west of the northern Orocarni, at the extreme northeastern edge of Endor's broad Eastplain. The Illuin Wood stretches to the north. Deciduous forest and hills separate the high, cold grassland, from the rich Nan Kalmasr (Q. Lampriver Valley) to the east. Morneri herders, trappers, and hunters, the Rbor are a tough, stout people. They live a seminomadic life for a little over half the year, and retreat to permanent camps during the long northern winter. Despite the bitter cold, though, Rbor bands hunt, trap, and fish nearly every day of the year.

Ruuriik Ruuriik is a sheltered and heavilywooded Dwarfkingdom tucked into the northeastern flank of the Orosli. Mountains encircle it on three sides, while the Romenar forms its eastern boundary.

Rycolis Rycolis was in the northeastern part of the central Talathrant basin. A cool area characterized by lush grasslands and a large, mixedwood forest, it was occupied by Aharinspeaking farmers. By the Third Age a kingdom is found at the crossroads between east and west, ruled since the days of Rens Chey empire by a Satrap, who chants a royal hymn before all state occasions. Rycolis was heavily dominated by Haradrim and Sranean thought, culture and architecture from the mid-Third Age. The Satrap was originally named by Ren, but is normally hereditary; only when a particular Satrap begins acting too independently is another line chosen. Rycolis is a trading center, facilitating commerce between the various realms dominated by the Nazgl in central and eastern Endor (and sometimes with Dorwinon and the West beyond). It was famous for its healers, among the best in the world; they once healed a Satrap of an arrow wound to the throat, and he suffered no permanent damage.

Sarbardar Human tribe, posible Shay in origin, who fought for Pallando in Lygar Kraw as his personal guard. They may have made up the bulk the soldiers who wore Pallandos symbol, spinning wheel on charcoal grey.

Shaka-ahar A demon-king in Shasindi legend, possibly a memory of Dwar of Waw.

Shasindi / Shay Lochan successor-kingdom to the Empire, consisting of the central province of Shay and lands to the northeast bordering Horl. Often applied to the entire region in the Fourth Age. Shay lies east of the Shay Bight and west of the Orosli, on the southeastern coast of Endor. It is home of a large population of Shayanspeaking farmers; the Shay were originally from Lurs Vorganis and Rbor, settling the area in the Second Age, while many of their kindred stayed in the north. The Shay who stayed, with the Jurchaen of Haen, formed the bulk of Mar and Khamls armies until the Fourth Age. Increasingly settled, the southern Shay (or Shasindi) became subjects of the Lochan Empire after many emigrated over the centuries; Shasindi was a major player in the power struggles which would erupt whenever the Dral lost control of the Empire, including the final collapse in 1794 TA. The Shay of the independent realm of Shasindi were conquered by Khaml, whose mother was a southern Shay, in the 22nd century of the Third Age. Taxila was the chief city of the Shay in the late Third and Fourth Ages.

Shayn Dynasty Jurchaen/Shay confederated troops conquered the Womaw Empire between 2063 and Khamls entry into his ancient capital of Laeg Gak in 2400; the Dynasty was propped up by Sauron, and constituted a rebellious but prosperous piece of the Sauronic Hegemony. Despite the power of Mordor, the Shayn never made any gains in Lurs Vorganis (Sinkiang), and they were driven from power in 2688 by the peasant general Chur n-chang; Sauron and Khamls attention was normally focussed upon Gondor, allowing the Womaw to overthrow their oppressors. The Shayn capital was Nanjing.

Shikome Cultural group from the Womaw Empire descended from the Uruk troops of Khaml during his assaults; after the overthrow of the Shayn in 2688 TA, they joined the emerging warlord of the n era as mercenaries, where they became increasingly civilized. There had been previous intermingling of Uruk and Womaw bloodlines, but these took place in the cruel and loveless nurseries of such Sauronic fortresses as Sart and Mang in the Orocarni; after the fall of the Yan, liaisons between Uruk and Womaw took place in the court culture of the Middle Kingdom, where the women (largely human) were given greater authority in raising the infants than the slaves of Khaml had, in part because the males were rarely present. The Womaw nobility was committed, partly for religious reasons, to a program of systematic enlightenment of the Uruk and their descendents. Physical Traits The Shikome had distinctly Uruk features, even late in the Fourth Age; they were grey-skinned and strong, generally standing at about six feet. Like Half-orcs in the west, Shikome evinced a broad spectrum of physical types, and both Ethin Peryrch and Krifaus could be seen as Shikome by the Womaw and the Avars. Lexically, Shikome proper referred to the linear descendents of the Uruk of the Orocarni, brought west by Khaml in the 22nd century TA, three hundred years before their appearance in Ithilien. Shikome could also refer to any half-orcs, or even Mongols; the best analogy is the Middle English word Saracen, which properly meant a Muslim from the Holy land, but was also used to refer to any Muslim, and extended to other heretics and pagans, including Saxons. The first recorded use of the word shikome is by Ando Krin in the late Third Age (2920), when he called the quarter-orc Shagbrm a shikome, hinting that the word may once have referred to anyone with orcish blood, or orcs in general, or even the Shay. Some shikome became poets and monks, but most remained best suited to the warrior life, and many came to prominence during the years of the Lost Pearl Kingdoms (720-60 FA).

Tatamrilis A Womaw port city near the mouth of the Saeltze which houses nearly three quarters of the area's hundred thousand Womaw residents. Aligned along four huge, interconnected bridges, it is a marvel of stonemasonry. The town serves as the principal point of exchange between the Womaw, Aegaw, and the Avari. It is the chief city in the Red Gulf (which the Aegaw call the Bay of Swirling Waters).

Trabukhti Minor kingdom in Lochas Drus following the downfall of the last Dral Hionvar in 1617 TA.

Tsdan A mysterious people, destroyed by the forces of Dwar by 1998 SA; Araminta (1) was Tsdan. The Tsdan were ruled by a female Ollm (Ts. Mother) and administered by a male Olan (Ts. Counsel). The Olan was usually the Ollms, uncle, brother, or son. He served as the warlord of a fierce, martial society. Tsdan shipwrights were famous for their Tilla (Ts. Watertravelers), the great warships that once dominated the westcentral Romenar. Tillaborne raiders conquered Kaish in 32348 SA. These invaders reflected VShrangs traditional military triad, and included the Rathorfa, the Gekka, and the Tsballa. The elite, allfemale Rathorfa (Ts. Running Fangs) served as a mounted shock force. They rode large, grey panthers called Fanna (Ts. Ghostpanthers), which were peculiar to VShrang and were undoubtedly the most noble of the big cats of eastern Endor. Organized in packs of five, the welltrained Ra'thorfan riders carried flails and a variety of lighter weapons. They comprised a formidable and highly mobile scouting and raiding force, especially under nocturnal or arboreal conditions. The allmale Gekka, or Longears, were lightlyarmed Tsdan bowmen. They carried elaborately carved composite bows. Like the Rathorfa, they were organized in units of five warriors called Ywofu. Five Ywofu formed an Ywekka, which was the traditional foundation of any Tsdan force. Most of VShrang's warriors served as part of the Tsballa (Ts. Ts'dan Mustering). A primarily male mixture, this grouping of lightlytrained and irregularlyarmed infantry included all of the unmarried Tsdan maidens and all of the youthful Tsdan men. While spirited, they were somewhat undependable when it came to a pitched melee. See VShrang.

Uiven Uiven is a collection of six (and numerous lesser) large islands located in the Romenar. They stretch about four hundred miles north and two hundred miles east of Mak, the easternmost point on the Endorean mainland. They guard the eastern channels into the Womaw Sea. Womarinspeaking fishermen reside throughout the cold, windy area.

Unvirnay Central province and successor-kingdom to the Lochan Empire; never a major player. Univirnay lies in southeastern Middleearth. A rich plain of tall grasses covers most of the area, which is situated east of the Shay Bight, west of the Orosli, and north of Shay. Like Shay, its western reaches are wellforested. It is also the home of a Shayanspeaking people; however, the Unvirnay are more given to herding, logging, and trading than they are to farming.

ster Kryl ster Kryl is an oasis of trees and hills in the vast grass sea known as the Eastplain of Endor. It is occupied by sedentary, Linerinspeaking dairymen and farmers called the steri. Their famous 650 mile long Ropewall is a marvel of engineering. A 6 foot high fence made of laquered wood and welloiled hemp, it resists both fire and rot. It encircles the entire area. In the mid-Third Age, the Wizard Alatar founded a kingdom in the forest called Luinemar (The Place of the Blue One), which included sovereignty over Daldunair as well; his adopted daughter Lossiriel inherited the kingdom in 756. It was known as the Round Western Forest.

VShrang Originally settled by the Tsdan (Ts. Waters People) in the fourth century of the Second Age, the five mountainous islands of V'Shrang lie off the coast of eastern Middleearth. They guard a rocky but strategic channel in the Romenar. Here, east of the southeastern part of Ruuriik, the Orosli rise straight from the sea.

Valair Tribal unit among the Late Shay, or Mongols, loyal to Alatar and his daughter, Lossiriel.

Vulm Shryac Vulm Shryac is the easternmost isle in Endor's great Southern Archipelago. It was inhabited by the Vulmawdescendants of the Surk Womaw who first settled the area after 472 SA. Womul of Mak conquered the local Wose tribes in 474 SA on behalf of the Hion Jaariis. His elite Vrak Taanuk (Wm. Coast Runners), comprised the first Vulmaw aristocracy, and their kinsmen still hold sway throughout the region. Strangely, though, four sitesthe most famous being the Shrineforges at Leag Oacremain sacrosanct and uninhabited; they may be mere imitations of the Womaw sacred-shrines.

Ww Island settled by Wlim sometime in the Second Age. It became an imperial power under the Nazgl Dwar, often raiding and sometimes conquering the mainland as far as Meronshrya in the west and Horl in the north.

Wl Wl is southernmost of the Shelflands situated east of the Mountains of the Wind. Its original Wolm inhabitants speak a Pukaelrelated tongue. Long an important administrative region, Wl sent many colonists and immigrants to the island of Ww. By the 15th-century TA, Wl had become colonized in turn, as Ww bwcame a great power in its own right. Wl and Ww were almost synonymous in the chronicles of their rivals and foes in the post-Lochan period.

Woma Dral In 347 SA Woma Dral of the Surk (a tribe of the Womaw) brought his great fleet to Cleaac, on the southeastern coast of Endor. He was in search of new and fertile territory for his tired horde of warriors. The residents of the area at that time called themselves the Lakhab (lit. Coast folk), and lived in modest communities situated by the rocky promontories where their warlords erected citadels of earth and rude stonework. An armed landing by a Surk battlegroup set the tone for subsequent relations between the two peoples. And so, the CunaaciaacAalkbroda (L. Battle of Hillholds) decided who would be master of the fertile lands west of the Ams Breacna (L. River of Great Memories). Woma Dral was given the Laath of Hionvor on the first day of 348 SA (the first year of the Lochan Second Age). His reign initiated a new period in the history of southeastern Endor; for the first time, an organized, centralized society embarked on a campaign of conquest. Woma Dral began to carefully shape the nature of his new Lochas (L. Neverending Glen) from the very outset. Using a modest set of laws which had been brought from his homeland of Uon on Vulm Shryac, he fashioned a state based on the eight traditional kindreds of Vuulmaw. Four pairings of tribal moieties were settled in distinct geographical districts: (1) in Halocha, the Shom and Vaeliic, both Surk, settled; (2) the Tawurk, Wom and Runaas, lived in the western Haen of Rualocha; (3) the Moak, including the Niviis and Chorn, held Diolocha; and (4) the Narig, composed of the Krawn and Uoniis tribes, held sway along the Breachna in Maralocha. Woma Drals descendents ruled Lchas Drs from 348-27 TA, and again from 1148-1794 (see Lchas Drs).

Womaw Empire [Womawas Drus] The Womaw people are subdivided into kingdoms and tribes, each of which is governed by a Hion (originally Wm. Lord or King). With the formation of an empire, the various Hion became subservient to a single Hionvor (also spelled Hionvol in Ahguan) (Wm. HighLord), who also had the title of Mul (Wm. King). The organization was probably feudal, with each incoming Hion swearing fealty to the Hionvor. The feudal system is probably what caused the later disintegration of Wowamas Drus. The main political capital of Womawas Drus was located in Gak (later Gkien), in Laeg Gak, which was on the shore of Gak's inland lake. In addition there were three other capitals in each of the original Womaw Corelands. Appointment to the office of Hion or Hionvor appears to have originally been by election, but probably turned into a familial line of descent during the early Second Age, followed by imperial nomination in the Third. Provincial Organization There appear to have been at least 12 major political divisions in Wowamaw Drus: Rolfandas, Uiven, Haen, Kael (Khaetin), Wom Shyrac (Shensi and Shansi), Cuivac Womaw (Kiangnan), Thuriac Codya (Thukshi-Codya), Aegan (Ahguan), Gak (Gkien), Helcar Sael (Helqisi), Kosth Leer, and Mak (Maekche). Each of these realms probably originally had an independent Hion (and some probably had more), although the Hionvor of Womawas Drus was probably also Hion of Gak. After the collapse of Womawas Drus in the mid-Second Age, the realms went their various ways, with some, like Anhwei, electing independent Hionvol as well as Hion, and others just a Hion. Reunification under the Qianli occurred in 2913, and largely continued despite numerous dynastic changes until 749 FA; imperial nomination in the provincial administrations had begun to replace familial descent as early as the 11th century TA, under Hionvar Laoting.

Womaw Moon Called Tilions Jewel by Elven scholars of the West after Saruman reported its existence, the Moon is a pearl recovered from a Mulkna, a black-shelled giant oyster; it is the largest on record, seven inches in diameter. Its early history is one of bloodshed: it was found by fishermen, who were slain by the brigands of Toro-kan the Reaver, himself slain by the Emperor Qian Tis soldiers in 2982 SA. Qian Ti built a magnificent palace solely to house the Moon, which became an imperial symbol.

Xian Largest city in Khitan and Kansu, situated on the eastern flanks of the Orocarni.

Zhenxin Capital city of Khitan and Kansu province in 757 under Governor Loburi, even though the mountain border city of Xian was larger and more prosperous. Nara was near Zhenxin.

Zhizhuan City along the upper Huangtze river, home of the Heavenly Spider Monastery; although the Womaw beleived that spiders represented good fortune, the Hengeoia had corrupted this tradition and used the monastery as a lair.
