Cut back on soda, sugar-sweetened tea,

fruit or sport drinks.

Reach for a tall glass of water instead of sugar-sweetened drinks. Here are some simple ideas to make better drink choices:

• Make water exciting! Add a slice of lemon, cucumber, or watermelon to it.

• Drink 100% fruit juice without added sugar—fruit is sweet and tastes great on its own!

• Choose 1% or skim milk.

• If you are having soda or juice for a treat, choose a small size.

Egg yolks and whole eggs store

significant amounts of protein and are

widely used in cooking, due to their

protein content. There are a variety of

ways to consume an egg. You can eat

them soft boiled, poached, scrambled,

over easy, hard boiled, devils, or even

Pickled. Half of a large sized egg gives

you 1 oz of protein at any school meal.

Eliminate use of and exposure to

tobacco and nicotine products. E-cigarettes are devices that heat a fluid into a vapor.

The user then breaths in that vapor. The fluid usually

has nicotine and other chemicals that are known to damage health.

No matter how it is delivered, nicotine is harmful and addictive.

More harmful ingredients found in e-cigarettes include:

• Small particles that can be inhaled into the lungs

• Chemicals linked to lung disease

• Heavy metals, such as nickel, tin, and lead

Be physically

active at least

one hour every

day.

Are you getting

enough sleep? Lack of sleep can

affect everything from our

emotions to how well we focus on

daily tasks. It can affect how well

we do at sports, increase our

chances of getting sick, and may

even cause weight gain. Be

active during the day. Regular

exercise can help you sleep

better and it can help you sleep

longer without disruption.

Physical activity can decrease

stress and help you feel more

relaxed. Just do not exercise too

close to bedtime because

exercise can wake you up before

it slows you down.

Teaching your children about nutrition is essential for healthy teeth. Eating healthy foods every day like whole grain bread, fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, chicken, eggs and beans will help your child and their teeth to grow strong! Foods high in sugar are ok sometimes but not often. Encourage your child to drink water between meals and snacks!
