This calculator is based on actual data of a rowing shell where there is very little wave-making drag. It is Reynold's Number compensated and thus is valid for any size of craft which has a smooth surface and is used at a speed where wave-making is small. Additionally fair lines are assumed, e.g. no immersed transoms.
