On Feb. 20, we will examine collective impact strategies in Atlanta, focusing on three initiatives-Ready by 21, Atlanta’s Promise Neighborhood, and Graduation Generation. On Feb. 27, we will discuss specific next step actions can we take as a community of faith to improve educational outcomes for Atlanta’s low-income children. Join us!

The class is for adults of all ages and stages of life and offers a special welcome to members of the LGBT community, their allies, friends, and families. Join us for historically informed, biblically grounded conversations. We look at gender and identity, diving back into the biblical text to think about what it means to us to be men, women, and just plain people, in the body of Christ.

oPen door Room 156 Started in 1953, the class remains committed to its initial goal: to join intelligent minds and strong faith. Its sessions, both lecture and free discussion, have centered on historical settings at different stages of church development, evolution of creeds, history of religious freedom in this country, church in society that is open to all religions, and many more. In short, as one member has described the class, one does not check one’s mind at the door when one enters the class.

agora Room 322In New Testament Greek, the name means “meeting place,” and we are a vibrant, conversational class that discusses a variety of topics, including Bible, theology, current events, and arts. Most of us are thirty something, and many have young children.

berean bible claSS Reception RoomThe Bereans were critical thinkers who, with study, became believers (Acts 17:10-12). This year our theme is “What is the Church?” It is the people who meet in God’s name, but also an institution, a place, the foundation of our culture, and much more. On February 17, Bill Haley will discuss “The Story of the Christian Church.” On February 24, Marian Jones, from St Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, will discuss the Catholic Church.

coMMuniTy bible STudy Room B415With our new Associate Pastor for Community Ministries at the helm, join us as Rev. Connie Lee leads community Bible study and fellowship.

covenanT claSS Room 230The Covenant Class examines an interesting combination of family and social issues, church history, theology and Bible lessons, all from the perspective of today’s family.

diScovering god’S Word Room 317Our class is studying Marcus Borg’s book, Reading the Bible Again for the First Time. On Feb. 17, we will discuss Chapter 4: “Reading the Creation Stories Again” (p. 57-81); and on Feb. 24, Chapter 5: “Reading the Pentateuch Again” (p. 85-106).

eMMauS claSS Room 227 On February 17th, the Emmaus Class will be led with a devotional by Kate Breytspraak and on February 24th, Rebekah LeMon will lead a discussion on spiritual disciplines within a busy lifestyle. All are always welcomed.

FaiTh and liFe Room 218On Feb. 17th and 24th, Tom Munger will speak on the two oldest complete bound copies we have of the Hebrew Bible (the Aleppo Codex) and the New Testament (Codex Sinaiticus). In addition to being very important books for Judaism and Christianity, they each have a fascinating history (with roles ranging from Israeli spies to the Russian Czar) that illuminate the importance of these books to the Jews and Christians throughout the centuries but they also provide insight on how the scriptures were compiled and passed on to generations of believers. These talks promise to be enlightening and entertaining!

FirST FoundaTionS Room 323A laid-back, discussion-oriented class of couples, many in our thirties with young families. We try to maintain diversity in our topics with a combination of Bible study, modern day religious and societal trends, parenting and family issues, movie and video lessons, guest speakers, etc.

Throughout the year we host speakers who share their insight and perspective on parenting, marriage and the challenges facing the modern Christian family. Come join us!

SPiriTual living Room B202Please join us as we continue our study of “Listening to the Heartbeat of God” by J.Philip Newell. Visitors are ALWAYS welcome. Please join us this Sunday!!!
