  • Champagne Edition Inc., founded by CEO, Alan Champagne, branded Eco-Flex® Recycled Rubber Solutions back in 1992. The company is an industry leader in the recycling of Canadian passenger car tires and the manufacturing of high value, end use, recycled rubber products which are sold throughout Canada and the world.

Operates out of a 35,000-foot manufacturing facility situated 30 minutes north of Edmonton, Alberta. Eco-Flex recycles the rubber from 2.5 - 3 million discarded tires per year. All raw material is Western Canada (ALBERTA) and US (California) however the company anticipates outsourcing raw material in the future based on increased consumer demand for Eco-Flex’s quality recycled products.

To date the company has been responsible for recycling over 50 million passenger car tires.

  • Eco-Flex Sound Barriers are an acoustic barrier system manufactured by Champagne Edition Inc. from recycled rubber tires. The barriers, which have been tested through a rigorous five-year development program, have proven to reduce significantly the impact of traffic noise on residential and industrial areas. These barriers also work effectively to reduce high-speed rail, airport, industrial and construction work noise pollution. Indeed they provide a far more efficient sound block than any other sound reduction materials available on the market.

Our Sound Barrier products are highly sustainable. Approximately 350 million scrap tires are generated in the US annually – and this is a growing global problem. Each mile-long 16ft-high Sound Barriers would use 143,000 scrap tires which would otherwise be buried, dumped at sea or burned. Therefore Sound Barriers provides an ecologically sound means to disposal of scrap tires.

With increasing road projects and traffic flows on our roadways, along with other noise irritants such as high-speed rail and industrial sites, there is a de-mand for governmental authorities to install such walls to reduce the resulting noise pollution. Sound Barriers meets that demand like no other product currently on the market.

  • Studies made by different industry players have shown that Sound Barriers’s outstanding acoustic performance is achieved through the combination of sound transmission, absorption and the diffusion of reflected sound. The product has achieved an insertion loss of 23 decibels when tested to ANSI S12.8-1998 standards. According to the US Department of Transportation, a 20dBA reduction

According to the US Department of Transportation, a 20dBA reduction is nearly impossible which suggests Sound Barriers’s performance is superior to other products evaluated.

    PROVEN PERFORMANCE

The practical efficiency of Sound Barriers has been clearly demonstrated, but to measure its effectiveness, an industry player was commis-sioned to show the impact where high traffic noise exists adjacent to a residential housing complex. The origin noise level was measured at 75dBA. The resulting sound reduction was 15-20dBA. This represents significant improvement to the residents’ quality of life by greatly reduc-ing the nuisance noise. Current installations of Sound Barriers in the US have proven that it is a highly effective deterrent to noise pollution. In 2013, the New York State Thruway Authority engaged different companies to install a section of recycled rubber sound barriers as part of the Albany Interchange 23 to 24 reconstruction project.

    DURABILITY

To demonstrate durability, an installation in place in Northern Indiana to assess changes in structural performance through the different seasons has shown, as per design, that the wall has no detrimental impact through hot, cold, snow, ice and wind. As a result of these successful tests, Sound Barriers have proven that they are a crucial deterrent for noise pollution in any environment.

  • INTERLOCKING MODULAR DESIGN

Sound Barriers is a modular system made of panels which have an interlock-ing profile along their horizontal edges. This creates a tight-fitting connection between the panels so when joined, they can withstand high wind speeds, vibra-tions or violent shock without compromising the acoustic and structural integrity of the wall.

    BASIC STRUCTURE

Each Sound Barriers panel is 10ft wide x 3 inches x 3ft high and weighs 510 lbs. The structure is comprised of specially designed panels utilizing recycled rubber tires assembled onto structural steel uprights with a concrete foundation. This creates a strong, rigid structure

    SOUND BARRIERS RESISTANT TO

PRODUCT DESIGNEco-Flex Sound Barriers have been carefully designed and tested to perform in harsh conditions without compromise. The sturdy frame and steel base, together with the composition of the recycled rubber polymer and binding agent, can withstand extreme temperature fluctuations, violent shock and vibration. Even in extreme conditions the noise reduction qualities of Sound Barriers are unaffected. This makes this multi-faceted product suitable for use in a wide variety of locations and applications.

  • ADDITIONAL QUALITIES

FLAMMABILITYThe molded rubber particles within a Sound Barriers panel are highly compressed and bonded tightly with a bonding agent. The end product is a dense rubber panel which limits exposure to oxygen to the surface of the barrier. The propri-etary binding system has a flame retardant additive to help prevent surface ignition.

EASY INSTALLATIONOur Sound Barriers modular system has been specifically designed to allow the panels, steel uprights and concrete bases to be manufactured near installation sites. This reduc-es transport costs and allows for quick deployment when the site is ready to receive the panels. The panels feature an easy-to-use interlocking design reducing installation lead-time, and they can be removed and re-used after they have fulfilled their function at a site. In the event of damage, panels can be recycled into new, usable ones.

MATERIAL TOXICITYSound Barriers’s recycled rubber compound is non-toxic. The proprietary binder used to form the rubber compound consists of superior grade additives that do not oxidize over time when exposed to the elements. When in contact with liquids such as rain water, leachate studies have shown that the material does not release any harmful inorganic substances.
