Orange and Paper Bags – Although we prefer green Organics bags, orange and paper bags can be used for leaves and yard waste only.Compostable Transparent Bags – These bags can be used for curbside if certifi ed under ASTM D 6400 or CAN/BNQ 0017-088 and have both of the following logos visible on the bags:

Pizza Boxes - Remove any crusts or left over cheese and place the box in the blue Recyclables bag and the paper in the clear Garbage bag.Food Containers - Empty and quickly rinse metal and plastic containers with cold water; it only takes a second or two. As long as nothing will leak, drip or spill out onto the rest of your recyclables, it’s clean enough for us!Aluminum - Scrape off excess food and fold or crumple the dirty side in.

3-STREAM PROGRAM BASICS Starting October 17, 2016 for households in Westmorland and Albert Counties.

Bags may not be picked up for the following reasons:• Wrong colour of bag for the week• Waste not placed in acceptable bag• Bag contains hazardous waste• Bag is too heavy• Homeowner is clearly not making an eff ort to properly separate their waste

GarbageIn clear transparent bags(See fl ip side for list of examples)

Paper towels, napkins, and tissues are compostable. Please place them in your green Organics Bag.

Food Containers – Empty and rinse metal and plastic containers with cold water and place in the blue Recyclables bag. As long as nothing will leak, drip or spill out onto the rest of the recyclables, it’s clean enough for us!

Ropes, Cables, Wire – To prevent mechanical sorting equipment from becoming entangled and breaking, place these items in the clear Garbage bag.

We prefer diapers and pet waste in the clear Garbage bag. However, in weeks with no clear Garbage bag pickup, these can be placed in the green Organics bag.

Leaves & Yard Waste – Although we prefer and recommend organic material be placed in green or certifi ed compostable bags, orange and paper bags with leaves and yard waste only will be picked up.
