E-tailing in India is driven by discounts, mid term focus is infrastructure

E-tailing in India is at nascent stage, attracting

customers by deep discounting strategy. The

focus currently is to habituate customers to the

new retail platform.

Bigger players also investing in back-end

infrastructure; building large warehouses,

distribution network, investing in last mile logistic network, private labels etc.

Mid-term focus would be to continue discounting, aided by deep consumer insight

using big data analytics and playing on “Convenience

Quotient”.

It is high time planning for e-commerce.

As per Google research 2014 done on 6589 people, 71 % said they will do shopping through only
