IVT Success Story - Undeclared Squid Incident
• In May 2016 the IVT-DeST assisted in the tracking of foreign vessels which entered South Africa’s EEZ without declaring 600 tons of squid.
• The tool was used to prove that the squid was not caught in SA but also showed that to vessel had been fishing internationally and did not declare its cargo.

IVT Success Story – Illegal drug bust
• The Integrated vessel tracking tool was used in December 2018 by the State Security Agency to track a vessel suspected of carrying drugs from Brazil to South Africa.
• Interpol and the local authorities seized cargo near Port Elizabeth aboard a vessel bound for India via Singapore.
• The vessel was carrying approximately 700kg worth of cocaine which amounts to approximately R720 million.
