Erste Ausgaben. Bedeutende Schriften zum berühmten Accisen-Streit und damit wichtige Beiträge zur

Finanzgeschichte. Als Quelle zur Kenntnis der deutschen Finanzwissenschaft nach dem

Dreißigjährigen Kriege von großer Bedeutung. Kein geringerer als Inama-Sternegg hat auf die

Wichtigkeit dieser Schriften in seinem Beitrag „Der Accisen-Streit deutscher Finanztheoretiker im 17.

und 18. Jahrhundert“ in der Zeitschrift für die gesamte Staatswissenschaft, Jahrgang 21, Heft 4, Seite

515-545, hingewiesen. Auch Zielenziger hat in seinem Buch Die alten deutschen Kameralisten sich

mit diesen Schriften auf Seite 386 eingehend auseinander gesetzt. Weiterhin vergleiche Roscher

by families over time. They have helped to fill the gap in existing theories by developing a basic

Condorcet‟s refutation of Necker‟s ideas about the commerce of grain in France. In his work Sur la

législation et le commerce des grains Necker was strictly against the free circulation of grain, an

First English edition, first published in German in 1845. Friedrich Engels (1820-1895) was a German

businessman. After his visit to Manchester in 1842-1844 he became a political theorist, friend of Karl

Marx and one of the intellectual founders of communism. Written with sympathy for the working

class, this is one of Engels‟ best known works and a vivid portrait of contemporary urban England.

First edition. One of the major works written against physiocracy. Graslin (1727-1790) together with

Forbonnais was the most prominent adversary of the physiocrats. Schumpeter emphasised his

importance because he proved two propositions: 1. The produce of land is wealth even when there is

no produit net, namely when the cost of cultivation is equal to the value of produce. 2. Industry

applied to raw material is as much wealth as the raw material itself (History of economic analysis).

This is one of his main works where he explains the stages of economic development and predicts the

Erschienen als Band XV der Bibliothek der Philosophen. Mandeville (1670-1733) war Arzt. Er

studierte in Holland und ging danach nach England, wo 1705 die erste Fassung seines Werkes

unter dem Titel The Grumbling Hive erschien. Es wurde sofort angegriffen und vom Verfasser

um Erläuterungen und Rechtfertigungen erweitert und erschien 1714 neu unter dem Titel The

Fable of the Bees. Es ist eine Parabel, die die Mechanismen des modernen Kapitalismus

vorwegnimmt. Nach Kress hat A. Smith viel zur Bekanntheit dieses Werkes beigetragen. Die

vorliegende Ausgabe enthält neben der Bienenfabel noch einige weitere Abhandlungen von

Mandeville; so u.a. Eine Abhandlung über Barmherzigkeit, Armenpflege und Armenschulen

und Eine Untersuchung über das Wesen der Gesellschaft.

month before the date of this letter.

unrest which rules in Sédan. Based on the report I gave to the King regarding this affair, His Majesty

has deemed it appropriate to send the Parliament letters patent in line with your opinion……I..beg you

(1820-1903) war Journalist (The Economist) und Publizist. Er schrieb zahlreiche Bücher zu

Psychologie, Philosophie, Pädagogik, Ethik, Politik und Gesellschaft. Seine Aufsätze in The Man

versus The State fassen seine politische Philosophie zusammen. Es ist eine eindrückliche Polemik

gegen jede Art von staatlichem Dirigismus, wachsender Bürokratie und sozialistischen Bestrebungen
