YL Forest Co., Ltd.

We expand 3 kind of mangrove project in Indonesia.

Forest conservation project

Silvofishery project

Afforestation project

in tidal flats We made MOU with local

administrations and obtained permission for afforestation site.

After raising the forest in 30 years, return it including the site, and maintain as a protected forest.

The total area of Indonesia is 101,500 ha

The project(REDD+) is underway at 23,500 ha protected forest in the coastal area at South Sumatra.

First obtained IUPJL-HL license in Indonesia, and ongoing from 2013.

Conducted joint research and Spread about Silvofishery with Maritime Fisheries school under

jurisdiction of Indonesian Ministry of maritime fisheries. Aiming at a

large-scale project organization of 3,000 ha, we are implementing

a pilot project.

Plantation activities of mangrove

Total of 4,000 communities participated in plantation activities in South Sumatra.

Everybody accepted little by little.

13 years have passed since started mangrove project.

Switch from lumber industry to mangrove plantation company

Import wood from all over the world to support timber demand for postwar reconstruction.

“Forest existed before the Civilization,

After that only desert left” by Francois-Rene´ de Chateaubriand (France 19th century)

Akira Yamamoto encountered this passage, put an end to the work of wood that destroys the forest and continued to think about ways to give back the earth. Changed the company business and company name in 2006, mangrove plantation project started in Indonesia. However, in the mangrove project on vast land, there is a limit to activities with self funds alone. Thought may be able to further increase the number of mangroves by utilizing the Kyoto Mechanism / Emission Credit System of the Kyoto Protocol at the time.

To revitalize plantation activities, and leave the forest in the future.

Previously Indonesia had 4.5 million hectares of mangrove forests, but it’s the area currently decreases to 2.5 million ha.

We are developing mangrove plantation projects with self-funds and support from friends and volunteers. However, it is impossible to restore all the mangrove forests, and we are thinking that the work is not just our work.

As an inhabitants of the earth, everyone is a job to do, and if carries out efforts, the resurgence of the mangrove forest is not even a dream. We are doing to create mechanisms for all of you to develop plantation projects.

Let's leave the forest existed after the Civilization !

Let’s thinking about, Population increase rapidly Food shortage Chronically Increase in fuel consumption Recent extreme weather

Forest conservation project REDD+

Nowadays, about 20% of the global greenhouse gas emissions are derived from carbon stock emissions due to forest reduce and ruin. Conversely, by protecting forests, we can hold down greenhouse gas emissions. Forests are also very effective as global warming countermeasures because they could absorb atmospheric CO2 and accumulate carbon and reduce greenhouse gases. Implementing REDD + project in coastal protection forest in OKI Regency, South Sumatra Province. Since this site is located on the inland side where the reforestation at the tidal flats was carried out since 2006, local people working together are the same members, and the relationship building and cooperation have been completed with the local community. Currently, the Government of Japan promotes the Joint Carbon Mechanism(JCM), has concluded agreements with 16 countries, and promotes the project to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Entrusted business about REDD+ feasibility study for 4 consecutive years since 2011,and full-scale start in 2013. We are patrolling for prevent illegal logging and forest fires, and already reducing CO2 through reforestation activities and others.

This activity is to do sustainable forest management, strengthen carbon stock, conservation forests and reduce emissions from deforestation and degradation.

First obtained in Indonesia,『 IUPJL-HL license 』

In July 2013, we obtained permission for REDD + project implementation. Acquisition of this "IUPJL-HL" permission is the first in Indonesia. Since permission of forestry relations in Indonesia domestic could only be acquired by companies and organizations of Indonesian citizenship, we have signed a joint business contract with PT.Tiara Asia Permai, the company with whom we have a relationship since before. And the manager of the development division has assumed office as a director of PT.Tiara Asia Permai, supervises the local activities, and jointly carries out the project.

Mangrove forest annihilation caused by aquaculture development

Coastal area of the northern Java was where mangrove forest grows naturally. This coastal area about 1,000 km was converted into aquaculture. Look at the satellite image, all the ponds what look like rice fields are cultured ponds.

Aquaculture development is causing serious environmental destruction

Intensive aquaculture expansion

• Massive employment of synthetic

feed, antibiotics, and water

quality regulator.

• High cost of management.

• Pollution with remaining feed

and sludge.

Intensive aquaculture And eventually…

• Polluted environment. (water

and soil)

• No more intensive shrimp

aquaculture.

• Replaced with aquaculture of

low-cost fish and seaweed.

• Low income for the local

people residents.

The pond will become a dead land

Mangrove forests and

ecosystems sustain

marine resources.

and aquaculture Fishery products of shrimp and fish are cultured naturally in water channels fringed by restored mangroves. No need for the use of chemicals and artificial feeds From the view point of food security, fishery products from silvofishery are much safer for human consumption. Sustainable production and livelihood Since mangrove ecosystems provide the necessary nutrients for cultured shrimp and fish, operation costs are greatly reduced. This affordable aquaculture method can yield fishery products that support the livelihood of the local people. Benefits of silvofishery Silvofishery is a practical and ecologically sound solution to abandoned shrimp ponds. It maintains mangrove belts, improves water and soil quality, mitigates climate change and natural disasters, protects against

We want to keep the beautiful eyes of the children who are

planting mangroves together,

We want to save the green earth for these children, that is

our heart.
