RECOGNITION AS A VOLUNTARY ASSOCIATION tN TERMS OF SECTION 25 OF THEENGTNEERTNG PROFESSTON ACT, 2000 (ACT NO.46 OF 2000)

It gives us great pleasure to inform you that the Engineering Council of South Africa recognisesInstitute of Professional Engineering Technologists (IPET) as a voluntary association, in terms ofSection 25 of the abovementioned Act, with effect from 30 August 2018.

The decision to recognise IPET is in line with the new Voluntary Association framework gazetted inMay 2017 in Government Gazette No 40827.

A certificate of recognition is attached and recognition number is VA A008 and it should be quotedon all correspondence with ECSA going fonruard.

ln the meanwhile your attention is directed to the provisions of Section 25 of the Act, the mostsalient extracts of which are quoted below:

*25.(4) A certificate of recognition is valid for a period of five years from the dafe of issue.

(5) A voluntary associafion must display its certificate of recognition in a prominent place at its

head office.

(6) The recognition of a voluntary association /apses-

(a) if that association no longer complies with the requirements contemplated in section

14(d); or

(b) at the expiry of the five-year period referred fo rn subsection (4)

(7) A voluntary association must, at least three months prior to the expiry of its recognition, apply

in the prescribed manner to the councilfor the renewalthereof.

(8) A voluntary association whose recognition has /apsed mLtst, within 30 days from the date on

which if is so directed in writing by the council, return its certificate of recognition."
