1 Security instructionsPlease read the security instructions, provided in a separated manual, carefully. Make sure that the given environmental conditions, mounting and installation prerequisites are met. This manual should be kept at a safe place and in reach of the installation.

1.1 Symbols

!The exclamation mark warns about possible danger for persons or possible damage of the device.

iThe information symbol gives general hints and informs about handling and procedures for use of the device.

1.2 Instructions

!Connect data and use switches for the devices only when the device is powered down!

!Due to SELV regulations, the SYMPL dali Nodes must have a separated power supply! It cannot share power with other e:cue SYMPL Nodes.

iIf security instructions are missing, please contact OSRAM to re-ceive a new copy.

2 General remarks

2.1 Transport

Only transport the devices in their original packaging. This protects the device from damage. Only unpack the at its installation location. To protect the device against condensation water, unpack it and wait until all moisture remaining in the device has evaporated. Condensation can occur when the device is moved from a cold to a warm location.

2.2 Unpacking and delivery content

Unpack the devices and inspect all parts for completeness regarding chapter „2.2 Unpacking and delivery content“. Keep the packaging for use in case of further trans-port. If there is apparent damage to the device or parts are missing from the delivery scope, please contact our Support service. Contact data will follow on the next page.

2.3 Warranty regulations

Depending on the product, guaranty regulations are of different duration. The war-ranty time is usually noted in the quote and in the order confirmation. See the chapter “Terms and Conditions” in the OSRAM website for details. Legal warranty regulations apply in any case.

2.4 Disposal

The proper disposal of packing materials and of the device is the responsibility of the respective user and for his account; in all other matters, the retrieval obligation for packing materials and the device is subject to the statutory regulations.

iBatteries and technical appliances must not be disposed of with domestic waste, but should be handed in at the appropriate col-lection and disposal points.

2.5 Maintenance and Repair

This device requires no maintenance.

!Do not try to repair the device, if it is defective or apparently de-fective. Return it to your distributor for replacement or repair.

3 General device descriptione:cue SYMPL Nodes are a system interfaces for e:cue SYMPHOLIGHT only. They provide various connection types like DMX512, DALI, digital inputs and outputs etc. SYMPL Nodes always operate in online mode, as a device interface for SYMPHO-LIGHT. All interactions are initiated and controlled by SYMPHOLIGHT. Connections between servers, Cores and Nodes are always made with e:net via Ethernet.

iTo operate SYMPL Nodes a SYMPHOLIGHT version 2.0 or higher is mandatory. Earlier versions do not support the SYMPL Nodes. SYMPL Nodes are not supported by the e:cue Lighting Applica-tion Suite! SYMPL Nodes are not hot-pluggable!

4 Installation SYMPL Nodes are designed to mount onto a 35mm DIN rail (standard EN 50022, BS 5584) in a vertical position. It is clipped in to the rail from top. Gentle pressure is then applied to the top front to snap it in place.

You can also mount e:cue SYMPL Nodes on any flat vertical surface. Use a 3 to 3.5 mm screw for the hanger hole.

For mechanical stability, mounting on a rail is recommended.

4.1 Installation conditions

5 Ethernet connectionThe pin-assignment of the Ethernet port corresponds to RJ45 standards. You can use every common Ethernet component, like cable, splitters and switches.

iNever connect more than one SYMPL Node in factory state to a network. The identical IP addresses will conflict and disturb proper communication.

iThe Ethernet ports of the SYMPLs are not designed for inter-building connections with power and lighting transients. Use only intra-building networks to connect the SYMPL Nodes and Cores.

6 Power supply

ie:cue SYMPL Nodes are not suited for powering over a DC pow-er supply network. Use a dedicated power supply in the control cabinet for supplying 24 V DC to the SYMPL Core.

7 Functions and featuresThe e:cue SYMPL dali Node provides one DALI line interface, with a maximum of 64 addresses per DALI line.

7.3 User interface

Every SYMPL Node has three LEDs and an Identify button. The three LEDs show the basic states of the SYMPL Node.

LEDs

Error If lights in red, an error occured. This can be an internal error or malfunction of the device, or an external error, e. g. a shortcut of interface connections. Switch the device off and on. If the error persists, check the wiring or contact OSRAM Service.

e:net Off: no link available. On: link established. Blinking: e:net traffic.

Status If blinking in one second intervals, the device is offline, no connection to a SYMPHPOLIGHT server or Core is available. If constantly on, the device is online.

Status + Error

If the Status and Error LED blink for 0.1 s every 0.5 s the server has send an Identify message to the SYMPL Node, to allow identification of the device.

Identify button

The Identify button has two functions. A short press during operation in online mode sends an Identify message to the server. This helps to assign the Node in the Layout in SYMPHOLIGHT.

The Identify button can also be used to reset the device to factory state or to stay in bootloader mode.

y Keep the Identify button pressed while powering up, Status and Error light up at first. Bootloader mode is signaled by a fast blinking Status LED. Release the but-ton now. The device stays in bootloader mode to download a new firmware.

y Keep the button pressed after powering up until Status and Error LED blink alternating, then blink together. Releasing the button now resets the device to its factory settings.

y Keeping the button pressed further on, the device proceeds to normal operation. No changes apply.

The configuration of the e:cue SYMPL dali Node is completely done via e:cue SYM-PHOLIGHT. See the SYMPHOLIGHT System Manual for details on configuration.

11 Allgemeine Hinweise

11.1 Transport

Transportieren Sie das Gerät nur in seiner originalen Verpackung um Schäden zu ver-meiden. Entpacken Sie das Gerät nur am Installationsort. Um Schäden bei Wechsel von Kälte zu Wärme durch Kondensationswasser zu verhindern, warten Sie nach dem Auspacken, bis das Gerät die Temperatur am Installationsort angenommen hat.

11.2 Entpacken und Lieferumfang

Entpacken Sie das Gerät und überprüfen Sie die Vollständigkeit des Lieferumfanges nach Kapitel „11.2 Entpacken und Lieferumfang“ Bewahren Sie die Verpackung für einen späteren Transport auf. Sollten Komponenten beschädigt sein oder fehlen, wenden Sie sich an Ihren OSRAM-Service.

11.3 Garantiebestimmungen

Abhängig vom Produkt können Garantie und Gewährleistung zeitlich unterschiedlich befristet sein. Die Garantie- und Gewährleistungs-Bestimmungen finden sich in der Regel im Angebot und in der Auftragsbestätigung. Zusätzlich sind Informationen dazu in unserer Website unter “Allgemeine Geschäftsbedingungen” aufgeführt. Ge-setzlich geregelte Garantiebedingungen sind davon unberührt.

11.4 Entsorgung

Die ordnungsgemäße Entsorgung des Verpackungsmaterials und des Gerätes ist Aufgabe des jeweiligen Benutzers und erfolgt zu seinen Lasten. Im Übrigen richtet sich die Rücknahmeverpflichtung für Verpackung und Gerät nach den einschlägigen gesetzlichen Bestimmung.

12 Allgemeine Beschreibunge:cue SYMPL Nodes sind dedizierte Interfaces für e:cue SYMPHOLIGHT. Sie stellen verschiedenste Verbindungen mit Protokollen wie DMX512, DALI, digitale Eingänge oder Ausgänge bereit. e:cue SYMPL Nodes arbeiten immer im Online-Modus als Systemverbindung für SYMPHOLIGHT. Alle Aktivitäten werden von SYMPHOLIGHT gesteuert. Die Verbindung zwischen Servern, Cores und Nodes erfolgen immer über e:net über Ethernet.

13 Installation SYMPL Nodes werden auf einer 35 mm-DIN-Hutschiene vertikal montiert (Standard EN 50022, BS 5584). Hän-gen Sie das Gerät oben in die Hutsch-iene ein. Danach drücken Sie leicht auf das Gehäuse, so dass die untere Ver-riegelung auf der Hutschiene einrastet.

e:cue SYMPL Nodes können auch auf jeder vertikalen Oberfläche mit einer Schraube befestigt werden. Nutzen Sie dazu eine 3 bis 3,5 mm-Schraube zum Einhängen in das Montageloch auf der Rückseite.

Für optimale mechanische Stabilität wird die Montage auf einer Hutschiene emp-fohlen.

13.1 Installationsbedingungen

14 Ethernet-VerbindungDie Anschlussbelegung der Ethernet-Ports entsprechen den Standards für RJ45. Alle üblichen Ethernet-Komponenten wie Kabel, Switches oder Splitter können genutzt werden.

iVerbinden Sie nie zwei e:cue SYMPL Nodes im Auslieferungs-zustand mit dem Netzwerk. Die identischen IP-Adressen stören die Verbindung im Netzwerk.

iDie Ethernet-Ports der SYMPL sind nicht für Netzwerken zwisch-en Gebäuden mit Spannungs- und Beleuchtungs-Transienten ausgelegt. Nutzen Sie für die Verbindung zwischen SYMPL Nodes und Cores nur ein Netzwerk innerhalb eines Gebäudes.

15 Stromversorgung

ie:cue SYMPL Nodes sind nicht für den Betrieb über ein Ver-sorgungsnetz geeignet. Verwenden Sie ein separates Netzteil im Schaltschrank für die 24 V-Gleichspannungsversorgung.

16.3 Bedienelemente

Alle SYMPL Nodes haben drei gleiche LEDS und einen Identify-Taster. Die drei LEDs zeigen den Zustand des Systems an.

LEDs

Error Falls rot, ist ein Fehler aufgetrten. Dies kann ein interner Fehler oder eine Fehlfunktion sein, oder ein externer Fehler wie Kurzschluss der Datenanschlüsse. Schalten Sie da Gerät aus und wieder ein. Besteht der Fehler weiterhin, überprüfen Sie die Verdrahtung oder wenden Sie sich an den OSRAM Service.

e:net Aus: keine Verbindung verfügbar. Ein: e:net-Verbindung verfügbar. Blinken: Datenverkehr über e:net.

Status Blinkt die Status-LED im 1 s-Interval, ist das System im Offline-Zustand und hat keine Verbindung zu einem SYMPHOLIGHT-Server. Im Online-Zustand leuchtet die LED konstant.

Status + Error

Wenn die Status- und Error-LED für jeweils 0,1 s alle 0,5 s blinken, wurde vom Server eine Nachricht zur Identifikation gesendet. So kann der Node im Layout lokalisiert werden.

Identify-Taster

Der Identify-Taster hat zwei Funktionen. Kurzes Betätigen im Online-Zustand schickt eine Identify-Nachricht an SYMPHOLIGHT. Damit kann der Node im Layout zuge-ordnet werden.

Der Taster wird ebenso benutzt, um das Gerät in den Auslieferungszustand zurück zu setzen oder den Bootloader-Modus zu aktivieren.

y Drücken Sie den Identify-Taster beim Einschalten, Error und Status leuchten. Las-sen Sie den Taster wieder los. Der Node bleibt nun im Bootloader-Modus für ein Herunterladen einer Firmware.

y Halten Sie den Taster weiterhin gedrückt, bis Status- und Error-LED abwechselnd blinken, dann zusammen blinken. Lassen Sie den Taster nun los, wird das Gerät in den Auslieferungszustand zurück gesetzt.

y Wird der Taster weiter gedrückt, geht das System ohne Änderungen in den Normalbetrieb.
