General Data Protection Regulation – IMPORTANT INFORMATIONFrom 25 May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into force. The GDPR applies to ‘controllers’ and ‘processors’ of data.  The definitions are broadly the same as under the Data Protection Act (DPA). The controller says how and why personal data is processed and the processor acts on the controller’s behalf. If you are subject to the DPA, it is likely that you will also be subject to the GDPR.  The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) has produced a handy ’12 steps to take now’ document and a self-assessment tool to help you prepare for the new regulation. Voluntary and community groups are advised to check the ICO website regularly for updates and follow all guidance issued by the ICO about GDPR. Contact launches new websiteContact, the charity that makes it easier for families with disabled children to reach out for help, has launched a new website. The refreshed website enables parents and carers to get advice and support, browse up-to-date information on hundreds of medical conditions, download resources and connect with other families via support groups and a popular online community.https://contact.org.uk/
