    5. Divide students into 6 groups giving each a region and a map. As a group, they willwrite two sentences about their region.

    6. CLOSURE: Groups will share what they wrote about their region.

    F. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding?

Students will independently identify the six regions studied on map and list one

    characteristic from each.

Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson.Students will "identify and describe Native North American life and cultural regionsprior

to European contact." Successful completion of the map activity and writing about

characteristics will show they understand the concept of North American life andcultural regions.

    G. Reflection:1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach?

The Power Point presentation will be the easiest part of this introductory lesson.

    2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach?Asking questions of student's prior knowledge might be the most challenging

depending on their level of understanding about Native American Regions.

    3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? This is an introductory lesson, which will be followed by a more detailed description

of each region and the people that inhabited them.

    4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts?I will ask for questions during the Power Point presentation and take as much time

as necessary in order for all students to grasp the main ideas. I will also help each

group as they come up with characteristics for their assigned region.

    5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change?I am hopeful that this introductory lesson will create interest in the unit. If not, I

would add more activities to stimulate interest.

    6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part?Creating the Power Point presentation was the most difficult part of this lesson.
