CSD Board & Committees GM MessageCelebrating 50 Years of Creating Community in El Dorado Hills 1962-2012

2012 marked our 50th Anniversary for the El Dorado Hills CSD and it was a year of celebration! First a little history: our first park was developed when the earliest homes were built in El Dorado Hills and gave the subdivision its name: Park Village. In 1965, that initial park was rededicated to honor a local fireman, Peter Bertelsen, who lived only a block away and sacrificed his life protecting the community. Many of our parks and facilities honor heroes, people who share our District’s core values.

Since then El Dorado Hills has grown substantially, we now serve nearly 40,000 residents with over 200 acres of parkland and hundreds of recreation programs for people of all ages, abilities and interests. We offer an array of community-wide special events, including classes for all ages, sports for all ages, along with health, wellness and fitness classes. We provide high quality facilities, such as the Community Activity Building, Gilmore Senior Center, Teen Center, Skate Park, aquatic center, sports fields, basketball, tennis courts, bocce ball courts, picnic shelters, trails and nature areas.

With a strong commitment to creating a healthy and safe community, we continue to maintain a true and genuine adherence to the CSD mission to enhance the quality of life for El Dorado Hills residents through innovative, responsible leadership and by providing superior services and facilities.

Some highlights from the past year include significant new improvements at Community Park such as the basketball court, restrooms, and pedestrian bridge; the ground-breaking for our newest park, Windsor Point Park; Arbor Day tree plantings in five different neighborhood parks; and the return ofthe Community Park “Holiday Tree Lighting” to fittingly commemorate our 50th Anniversary and bring joy to families in this community for years to come!

With a dedicated professional staff joined by hundreds ofpassionate volunteers, the CSD Board of Directors have led the advancement of scores of new improvements to parks facilities and recreation programs for our community to enjoy. This annual report proudly reflects upon the past twelve months of great accomplishments, all for the benefit of the local residents we serve.
