The Jacobite Room at Edinburgh Castle offers a contemporary setting within an 18th century building. Its magnificent views overlook Princes Street and the Firth of Forth – providing a stunning backdrop for wedding receptions and photography.

Queen Anne Room

Ceremonies & Receptions

Located in the heart of the castle, the Queen Anne Building offers a private facility for afternoon ceremonies and evening receptions. This classic setting is complemented by an adjoining indoor courtyard area perfect for pre or post-dinner drinks and canapés. The Queen Anne Room is available for exclusive hire and can include a private viewing of Scotland’s Crown Jewels.

The 19th century Gatehouse, situated at the entrance to the castle, comprises two adjoining apartments. This stunning wood panelled room offers an ideal venue for small wedding ceremonies, whilst the adjoining Ante Room is perfect for drinks and canapés. Access is also available to a private terrace which, with its breathtaking views over the city of Edinburgh and across the Pentland Hills, provides a wonderful backdrop for wedding photographs.

Ceremonies

This beautifully preserved 12th century chapel, which is available for small, intimate wedding ceremonies, is the oldest building not only in the castle but also in Edinburgh. It was built by King David I as a private chapel for the royal family and dedicated to his mother, Margaret, who died in the castle in 1093. The cobbled area outside St Margaret’s Chapel affords spectacular panoramic views across the city and far beyond. Guests can enjoy drinks and canapés after the ceremony in the adjacent Argyle Tower.
