Jury president Hollywood director Steven Spielberg said the tender coming-of-age tale about a 15-year-old French girl’s first love, an older woman, had been a unanimous choice.

In an unusual step, Spielberg awarded the prize to Kechiche as well as the film’s two stars, Adele Exarcho-poulos and Lea Seydoux, who joined him on stage to calls of “bravo” from the ceremony’s audience.

Denpasar (Bali Post)—Protests, tension and arguments occurred in the

open plenary session of the Bali Electoral Com-mission (KPUD) scheduling the recapitulation of vote counting in the provincial level and deter-mination of the elected candidate in the election of Governor and Deputy Governor of Bali 2013. The witnesses of Puspayoga-Sukrawan (PAS) also insisted on asking a re-calculation to C-1 form in the plenary meeting last Sunday. However, it was not responded by Chairman of the Bali Electoral Commission.

Situation began to heat up with the arrival of PAS witnesses and campaign team that were prevented by police authority on full alert at the entrance gates into the office of the Bali Electoral Commission. Witnesses and taskforce of the In-donesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) brought along nine containers of documentary evidences of violations and frauds through a long march from the Bali regional office of the PDI-P heading for the office of Bali Electoral Commis-sion. While marching, they also spread a banner reading ‘Do Not Deceive People, Let’s Recount the C-1 Form.’ Around 10:00 a.m., they arrived in front of the office of Bali Electoral Commission, while inside the plenary meeting was about to be opened because it was scheduled at 10:00 a.m. However, the PAS witnesses and supporters wishing to enter into the area of Electoral Commission were ham-pered at the entrance and not allowed to come in by police so that the argument was inevitable.

Witnesses of the PAS package, Made Supartha questioned why the witnesses were not allowed to enter. “Why are we not allowed to go in and strictly guarded anyway? Do you consider us terrorists?” asked Supartha. Deputy Chairman of the PDI-P Bali, Nyoman Patra, participating in the group requested the Bali Electoral Commission not to castrate the rights of witnesses. “It’s an open ple-nary, why are we forbidden to enter? Please take action if we act anarchically,” he pleaded.

Negotiations and arguments against the officers also took place. PAS supporters asked in order 2 witnesses, 2 members of the campaign team and 9 persons of data team from nine counties and municipality across Bali could be allowed to enter. Chairman of Bali Electoral Commission, Ketut Su-kawati Lanang Prabawa, had a chance to meet the masses to negotiate. He asserted that only 4 people were allowed to come in namely 2 witnesses and 2 members of campaign team. Masses once rejected, but they finally agreed that four persons of PAS package consisting of Made Supartha, Arteria Dahlan, Made Sumiati and Nyoman Parta were

allowed to come in.Atmosphere in the plenary meeting room was

also heating up. Quarrels and arguments between PAS witness and Chairman of the Bali Electoral Commission started from the debate why the PAS data team was not allowed to enter the room, procedures and different result of recapitulation delivered by county/municipal Electoral Commis-sion from the data calculation based on C-1 form held by PAS team.

On that occasion, the PAS witness insisted on recounting the C-1 form because there was difference of vote recapitulation. Arteria Dahlan and Made Supartha protested and interrupted in turn with high tone due to different result of recapitulation based on C-1 form. As a result, the plenary meeting turned noisy. Chairman of the Bali Electoral Commission, Lanang Prabawa, repeat-edly threatened to throw them out of the room. “I hope the witnesses to follow the existing rules. Otherwise, I ask you to leave the room. Police au-thority, please immediately secure the witnesses,” said Lanang with a high voice.

The anger of Lanang was triggered by the wit-ness Arteria Dahlan who was standing and accusing the Chairman of Buleleng Electoral Commission and Chairman of Bali Electoral Commission of hav-ing acted beyond the rules. The whole protests filed were not responded at all. “I expect the Chairman of Bali Electoral Commission to work according to the applicable laws. Never hide behind the words that you will accommodate all the aspirations by saying ‘to immediately attach the objection’ in the objection addendum. It is very contrary to the rules,” he said.

Arteria Dahlan also had an argument with the witness of Pasti-Kerta, Gede Sumarjaya Linggih. They stood face to face and had argument. Seeing the situation was heating up and flaring up, Chief of Denpasar Metro Police Wayan Sunartha finally took over the event and neutralized the ambience. “Sorry, I have to take over this event. Once again, I ask that all parties should properly and safely implement this plenary,” he asked. Finally, the plenary meeting was continued until the end and the determination of plenary results of the vote recapitulation and the winner of the Bali gubernato-rial election 2013 was the pair of Made Mangku Pastika-Ketut Sudikerta.

Outside the room and at area around the office of Bali Electoral Commission were strictly guarded by police. Even, the entire road access of Jalan Cok Agung Tresna Denpasar had been closed from the morning. Meanwhile, the entrance gates into the office of the Bali Electoral Commission were closed and strictly guarded. (kmb29)

Coordinator of the Bali Education Care Forum (FP2B) Klungkung, Made Pujadarsana, asked on Sunday (May 26) that schools should control the student ‘brutality’ in order they could quit such a bad habit early on.

According to Pujadarsana, the rampant speeding committed by students after graduation announce-ment indicated a poor understanding on the mean-ing of graduation. After graduating, the students actually started a new life with new challenges as well. He added, the graduated students should mentally prepare themselves to pursue higher edu-cation. In order they would not further fall to brutal behavior, Pujadarsana said the role of school was crucial. “If speeding action is increasingly crowded like this, it means that schools have failed to create well-educated students,” he said.

Pujadarsana said that a lot of things could actually be done by school to pack the graduation announcement in order to avoid the speeding action. However, it would highly depend on the student individual formed by the education acquired at school and at home. When simplified, the task of school was to make each student un-derstand that speeding action was a bad attitude and did not reflect a well-educated man.

“To avoid speeding action, the announce-ment of student graduation can be combined

with saying prayers at school and to temples as an expression of gratitude to Lord,” he said. Additionally, he said the students could also be divided and made the announcement at different temples. “Rather than speeding and scribbling, the students will be better to donate their uniform to the orphanage,” he said.

Principal of the SMPN 2 Semarapura sec-ondary school, I Made Arnawa, claimed last Sunday that to suppress the less educated action, the school should instill to the students from the beginning that excessive expression of pleasure through speeding was bad behavior and a reflec-tion of failed education. “For the next graduation announcement, we indeed oblige the students to put on customary attires. Civilized behavior must be fostered since early on so as on the gradua-tion announcement, each student is aware that speeding action is truly contrary to the status of the student as a scholar,” he said.

Arnawa hoped this year the 174 students could totally pass in the announcement next June. Arnawa also reminded that graduation announce-ment should be greeted with positive activities because the journey of a student remained long. “There is still a higher level of education. Upon the graduation, the students must immediately prepare for it,” he said. (kmb31)

Negara (Bali Post)—After waiting nearly a month, the body of mi-

grant worker from Negara, I Komang Sudiardika, 30, which was held in Japan, could be finally repatriated on Saturday night (May 25) to Berang-bang, Negara. His body was picked up by dozens of customary villagers that had been waiting since the afternoon at the victim’s home. The devastating family claimed to be grateful because at least they could see the body after having not met the victim in person for few years.

The body arrived at funeral home at Berangbang hamlet/village around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday night. Previously, the victim’s wife, Putu Ratna, received confirmation if the body would be flown from Narita Airport, Japan by Garuda Indonesia with flight number GA881. On arriving at Ngurah Rai Airport around 6:00 p.m., the body was handed over to the family and volunteers of the Center for Hindu Indonesia Coordination (Puskor Hindune-sia). The handover was attended by representative of the Indonesian Embassy to Japan. Afterward, the body was taken by ambulance to Negara provided by Jembrana County government.

Family representative, Mangku Gede Ardana, was grateful because the body of Komang could be brought home to be cremated on Wednesday

(May 29). Besides, the family also thanked for the cargo cost of the body repatriation and funding assistance given by various parties for the crema-tion and family. “We’d like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr. Regent of Jembrana, volunteers and colleagues that have helped Komang in Japan. Besides, we are also grateful as his body could be repatriated,” he said.

Also present at the funeral home on Saturday night were the Head of Jembrana Social Affairs and Labor Agency, Ketut Wiaspada, as well as the head-man and customary village chief of Berangbang.

Meanwhile, the Head of Center for Hindu Indonesia Coordination, IB Ketut Susena, hoped it was the last incident and would not happen again to Balinese people working overseas. In the future, the volunteer urged the government to pay attention to the fate of migrant workers or chiefly the Balinese interns. “We have encouraged that his body could be returned intact and be treated pursuant to Bali-nese Hindu tradition,” he explained.

Previously, the body had been uncertain for three weeks in Japan and would be cremated there. IB Susena got information from the Indonesian Embassy if the body was long held in Japan due to police investigation and holiday for a week so that it hindered the delivery process. (kmb26)

Bali PostDENPASAR - Minimal mastery of information technology was

recognized to be one of the obstacles owned by businesses in Bali in

the face of competition against the onslaught of foreign investors. It

was recognized by the economist Dr. A.A. Ngurah Sadiartha.

He said that other than restricted mastery of information technology that should be mastered in today’s global era, another disadvantage faced by local entrepreneurs in Bali was marketing. On the one hand, the entrepreneurs had been given a variety of excellent facilities and provision of capital support facilities, but according to Sadiartha, provision of those facili-ties had a negative impact where the local businesses would continue to be pampered.

“The lack of fighting spirit makes those local entrepreneurs easy to complain. It is mainly happening on trading of products, while the service sector should improve their nego-tiation skills as the first key to draw consumers,” he said.

Sadiartha doubling as Deputy Rector II of the Hindu University of Indonesia (Unhi) added that to further strengthen the presence of local businessmen in Bali, at least there would be joint venture with the government in the field of business

association groups continued as an ongoing program.

Sadiartha said that so far the gov-ernment attention to local entrepre-neurs was so good with various efforts through cooperative agency that pro-vided capital and business practices. To him, the most important thing to do was attempting in order that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) could be exempted from licensing process that sometimes was difficult. “They just need to register and be given a local business license, where in this case lo-cal government can proactively assess and immediately issue it. Then, they are exempted from taxes for 5 years. When they are stable and the turnover increases, the tax can be imposed,” he explained.

According to him, the county/municipal government across Bali should jointly impose this so that local businesses could increase in number both quantitatively and qualitatively, and the direct access of local entre-preneurs categorized into SMEs to banking institution could be earned. “At least, this effort should be done especially before the enactment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015, where local entre-preneurs in Bali must be prepared to face the onslaught of competition on account of the ASEAN free market,” he explained. (kmb28)

The Head of Badung Sanitation and Landscaping Agency (DKP), Putu Eka Merthawan, said on Sunday (May 26) the indicators causing the landscaping to be remodeled were the matters of safety and comfort. The existing landscaping was assessed to harm the safety of road sweepers and surrounding communities.

He said that edge zone separating the road body and the existing land-scaping remained too narrow. Supposedly, said Eka, the edge zone should be more elevated and adjusted to safety standards. The edge zone was too low, when undesirable time it could cause the vehicle to cross it and get into the median landscaping.

“This condition is clearly hazardous. If vehicles unintentionally come to median landscaping and there are officers on duty or pedestrian crossing the road, their life will be at stake,” he said.

On the other hand, the lack of street lighting around the underpass also became a highlight. More than that, the unavailability of water for watering plants was also worried to have an impact on congestion when the tank truck of DKP Badung was watering plants. Overall, the existing underpass landscaping was considered to still have a lot of weaknesses.

He further said that in accordance with the master plan in Badung, every landscaping in Badung should comply with the clean, green and safety aspect. Nissan Motor Co. of Yokohama, Japan.

VEHICLE: Leaf.

PRICE: Starts at $21,300 including federal tax rebate.

SALES TRENDS: More than 62,000 Nissan Leaf units have been sold worldwide since the launch of the hatchback in December 2010.

Better Place is the latest casualty in an electric vehicle market that has struggled to lure consumers who are skeptical of the short battery life, high price, and a lack of infrastructure that can require recharging stops of several hours on long trips. Here’s a look at sales trends for select electric car manufacturers:

Tesla Motors Inc. of Palo Alto, California.

VEHICLE: Model S

PRICE: Starts at around $70,000.

SALES TRENDS: The Model S went on sale last summer. Tesla delivered 4,900 cars in the first quarter, beating its guidance of 4,500. This month it boosted its guidance for worldwide deliveries in 2013 to 21,000, about 1,000 more than its previous target. It expects to deliver just over 4,500 cars in North America in the second quarter.

Fisker Automotive Inc. of Anaheim, California.

VEHICLE: Karma

PRICE: $100,000

SALES TRENDS: Fisker has sold fewer than 2,000 Karmas, despite early projections of 11,000 sales per year, and it hasn’t pro-duced any cars since its battery supplier filed for bankruptcy pro-tection last year.

CODA Holdings Inc. of Los Angeles

VEHICLE: The Coda.

PRICE: $37,250

SALES TRENDS: CODA began producing its five-passenger sedan last year, estimating it would sell 10,000 to 14,000 vehicles in its first 12 months. Instead, it sold around 100. The company filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this month and said it plans to quit the auto business altogether.

BYD Co. of Shenzhen, China.

VEHICLE: BYD e6, among others, including electric buses.

PRICE: Estimated around $35,000

SALES TRENDS: BYD sold just 1,700 elec-tric cars and 700 electric buses in 2012 and says it expects to triple that this year.

LOS ANGELES — Google’s new music service offers a lot of eye candy to go with the tunes. The song selection of around 18 million tracks is comparable to popular services such as Spotify and Rhapsody, and a myriad of playlists curated along different genres provides a big playground for music lovers.

The All Access service represents Google’s attempt to grab a bigger piece of the digital music market as more people stream songs over mobile phones. Such services are also meant to further wed smartphone users to Google’s Android operating system, where the search leader makes money from advertising and transactions on its digital content store, Google Play.

For a monthly fee, All Access lets you listen to as much music as you want over an Internet connection. You can also download songs onto mobile devices for smooth playback later when you don’t have cellphone or Wi-Fi access.

It’s worth a try for the discounted monthly rate of $8 if you sign up by the end of June. Those who sign up later will pay $10 a month, the same amount charged by the main competitors, Spotify and Rhapsody. Either way, you get the first month free and can cancel at any time. All Access works on the free Google Play Music app for Android devices and over Web browsers on computers — but not on the iPhone. (Spotify and Rhapsody work on both Android and the iPhone).

Visually, the app that I tested on Google’s Nexus 4 smartphone is en-gaging. Iterating on the list-heavy layouts of its competitors, Google Play Music jazzes up the interface by adding plenty of big artist photos along with little animations, including bouncing equalizer bars and screen-size cover art that moves slowly back and forth when a song is playing.

Some of the touch features require a pixie-like dexterity, though. It’s one downside to this solid entrant to the world of unlimited music streaming.

You can re-order songs that are in your queue on the fly — something not offered by either Spotify or Rhapsody. But this takes gripping a very thin digital handle to the left of a song title and sliding it up or down. Because it’s much thinner than the thumb I’m using to grip it, I ended up playing songs that I only wanted to move, or deleting them from the queue by accident (which takes a swipe right or left).

Donilon and State Councilor Yang Jiechi, China’s senior foreign policy official, said next month’s summit is a chance for the U.S.’s Barack Obama and China’s Xi Jinping to work through problems. Though they did not identify those challenges in their public remarks, ties are strained across the board, from longstanding differences over Iran’s and North Korea’s nuclear programs to new disputes over cyber-attacks and China’s more as-sertive pursuit of territorial claims against U.S. allies Japan and the Philippines.

In a sign that both sides want to stem the drift besetting ties, the sum-mit now scheduled for June 7-8 is tak-ing place months earlier than the two presidents were supposed to meet. It’s their first face-to-face meeting since Obama’s re-election and Xi’s promo-tion to head of the Communist Party last November. The setting — at the private estate of the late publishing tycoon Walter Annenberg in south-ern California — is supposed to be

informal, giving Xi and Obama and chance to build a rapport.

That Xi agreed to an informal summit has been seen by Chinese and U.S. experts as positive. His prede-cessors always preferred formal state visits, splashing images of White House ceremonies and banquets in the Chinese media to bolster their standing as world statesmen.

Good will aside, distrust has deepened in relations in recent years as the U.S. feels its world leadership challenged and China, its power growing, demands greater deference to its interests and a larger say over global rule-setting. Chinese officials and state media regularly say Wash-ington is thwarting China’s rise, strengthening alliances in Asia to hem in Beijing and discouraging Chinese investment in the U.S. on national security issues.

The official Xinhua News Agency reported Monday that late last week battle ships and submarines from the Chinese navy’s three fleets staged a war game in the South China Sea.

The area is already a flashpoint, with Beijing’s aggressive claims to disputed islands having rattled the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Brunei.

On Sunday, Li Keqiang — on a visit to Germany in his first trip abroad as China’s premier — pressed China’s claim to a cluster of East China Sea islands held by Japan. Traveling to Potsdam, where allied powers declared the terms for Japan’s surrender 68 years ago in the waning days of World War II, Li told reporters that Japan must not “deny or glorify the history of fascist aggression.”

The aggrieved sense emanating from Beijing goes beyond recent flare-ups in old territorial disputes. The website of the People’s Daily, the Communist Party’s flagship newspaper, is running a recurring column that takes a critical look at Americans and their institutions. First called “Immoral, dishonest Americans,” the title of the column was changed to “The Americans you don’t know about.”

TOKYO - Outspoken Osaka Mayor Toru Hashimoto, seeking to quell an international furor, denied on Monday that he had ever meant to excuse Japan’s wartime military brothels and said Japan should apologize to the Asian and other women forced to work there.

Still, in comments likely to keep the controversy alive, Hashim-oto said historical research was needed to determine whether Japan “as a state” was directly involved in human trafficking of the “comfort women”, as those who worked in the brothels are euphemistically known in Japan.

He also urged other countries to face up to the possibility of similar offences regarding “sex and the battlefield”.

Hashimoto, the populist co-leader of a small right-wing party, sparked a storm of criticism at home and abroad when he said ear-lier this month that the military brothels had been “necessary” at the time and that Japan had been unfairly singled out for practices common among other militaries during wartime.

Those remarks have further eroded dwindling voter support for his once-rising Japan Restoration Party, making it a less attractive potential ally for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe as he eyes sensitive revisions to the country’s pacifist post-war constitution.

Hashimoto did not withdraw his remarks but said they had been reported only in part, and had been misunderstood.

“I am totally in agreement that the use of ‘comfort women’ by Japanese soldiers before and during the World War Two was an inexcusable act that violated the dignity and human rights of the women in which large numbers of Korean and Japanese were included,” Hashimoto said at the start of a nearly three-hour news conference before foreign and domestic media.

“I also strongly believe that Japan must reflect upon its past of-fenses with humility and express a heartfelt apology and regret to those women who suffered from the wartime atrocities as comfort women,” he said in an English version of the statement. “I have never condoned the use of comfort women.”

BELGRADE, Serbia — Serbia held a funeral on Sunday for Yugosla-via’s last king, Peter II Karadjordjevic, who had fled the country at the start of World War II and died in the U.S. in 1970.

The former king’s remains, and those of his wife, mother and brother, were interred in the family tomb at St. George church in Oplenac, central Serbia, in a ceremony aired live on the state television.

The funeral was attended by top state officials, who described it as an act of reconciliation and unity. After fleeing Yugoslavia during its Nazi occupation, the former king never returned because Communists took over the country at the end of the war and abolished the monarchy.

He died in exile at the age of 47 and was buried at a Serbian Orthodox Church monastery in Libertyville, Illinois — the only European mon-arch laid to rest on U.S. soil. “We can no longer afford any divisions and injustice,” President Tomislav Nikolic said in a speech at Sunday’s ceremony.

Peter was born into a royal family, and his godfather was Britain’s King George VI, but his life was often tragic and chaotic.

He was only 11 years old when his father, King Alexander I, was as-sassinated in 1934 in Marseilles, France. For the next six years the boy’s powers were in the hands of a three-man regency headed by his uncle, Prince Paul.

In March 1941, Prince Paul was overthrown in a military coup after signing a pact with Germany.

Peter, then 17, was made the king by the Serb anti-fascists. But when Germany invaded Yugoslavia in April 1941, Peter was forced to flee, first to Greece, then to Egypt, then to Britain, where he headed the government-in-exile. He later lived in France and ended up in the U.S. History books portray him as a figurehead leader and a victim of cunning politicians.

Tabanan (Bali Post)—Education facilities in Tabanan need persis-

tent improvement. Aside from many damaged elementary school buildings, this rice granary region also in fact lacks of teaching staff. Un-mitigatedly, the shortage reaches 587 people. With this condition, many teachers of elemen-tary school are willing to teach concurrently, while the rest relies on volunteers.

Total teacher in Tabanan reaches 6,000 people where 2,302 of them are teachers of elementary school. However, approximately 300 teachers of them are elementary school teacher that will be retired up to 2015. “So, we still lack of the elementary school teacher, let alone many will retire,” said the Head of Tabanan Education Agency, Putu Santika, last week.

Related to the shortage, said Santika, his party had proposed to Regional Employment Agency (BKD). However, the authority to appoint public teachers lay in the central gov-ernment. “So, we merely ask. The result is up to central government,” he affirmed. To fill in the position, said Santika, his party agreed to prioritize local teachers. It was related to the distribution of teachers as well as facilitation of teachers to teach. Until now, his party still continued to make data collection of teachers spreading across the Tabanan region.

Other than teacher, the principal that would be retired also came to relatively large number. “The amount of principal is not final, so that we still continue to collect the data,” he said. Ap-pointment of school principal, said Santika, had strict rules. Later on, the principal should have certification. This rule was based on the Regula-tion of Education Minister No. 28/2010.

According to Santika, his party had regis-tered 82 candidates of principal in the test in Solo, Central Java. Of that number, only 50 people who were qualified for the administra-tion test. Having been given another test, only 29 people could pass the academic test. Those who passed the test would be proposed to get office approval from the regent.

Santika added, certified principal program would continue, including the equitable dis-tribution of teachers. Ideally, each elementary school had six class teachers, sport teacher, religious teacher and principal. It was the edu-cational minimal service standards (SPM). In reality, many elementary schools in Tabanan lacked of teachers, especially public school teachers. “It becomes our homework. Later on, the minimal service standard of education shall be applied,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Commission II of the Tabanan House, Gede Purnawan, asked the Tabanan County government to complete the teacher equalization program. Based on the results of field evaluation, many elementary schools that had not had public teachers, espe-cially those located at rural areas. Even, there was a primary school having a public teacher. “Equitable distribution of teachers should really be accomplished for the continuation of basic education in Tabanan,” said the politician of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) from Pupuan. Mangupura (Bali Post)—The price hike plan of subsidized fuel next June was responded

by the lineups of hoteliers by raising hotel room rates.According to Alexander Dorus, General Manager of New Kuta

Hotel at Pecatu, the hoteliers would perform room rate adjustment to anticipate the increase in operating costs. “We definitely make adjustment to room rates to offset the impact of fuel price hike,” said Alexander Dorus, Sunday (May 26).

According to him, the room rate adjustment was affected by the possibility of increase in the prices of goods from suppliers to hotel managed by the Lexington. “We cannot immediately make the room rate adjustment. It will be unfair if the impact of fuel price hike is fully charged to guests staying at hotel,” he said.

He added the room rate adjustment would not be far from the

amount of increase in fuel price. It was intended to keep the comfort of guests staying at hotel.

Similar opinion was delivered by Rike Liwan, Public Relations Manager of Aston Denpasar Hotel and Convention Center. She said there were several holiday package rates of the hotel that should be adjusted, such as Eid Package and Independence Package to anticipate the fuel price hike. “However, there is no plan to adjust or increase the hotel room rates as a whole. It is impossible to do because we’ve made contract agreement with travel agencies,” she said.

Meanwhile, Dina Indah serving as Marketing Communications Officer of the Grand Istana Rama Hotel said that her party made room rate adjustment every year, but it had nothing to do with the government policy. (kmb27)

NAYPYIDAW - Japan on Sunday announced a de-velopment aid and loan package for Myanmar worth hundreds of millions of dollars as it boosts trade ties with the fast-changing nation seen as a key regional emerging market.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who has pledged “all pos-sible assistance” to kick-start Myanmar’s long-neglected economy, agreed the plans in talks with reformist Presi-dent Thein Sein in the capital Naypyidaw, according to a joint statement released by Japan’s foreign ministry.

“...in laying a new foundation for taking the relation-ship between Japan and Myanmar to a higher level and establishing a lasting, friendly and cooperative relation-ship, Japan and Myanmar will work together,” it said, before outlining areas of cooperation.

Abe’s visit, the first visit by a Japanese premier since 1977, heralds a further improvement in already warm relations between Japan and Myanmar, as political re-forms and the removal of most Western sanctions spur investment in the former pariah state.

As part of the new deals, the Japanese premier pledged up to 51 billion yen ($498.5 million) in new loans to Myanmar.

This covers countrywide infrastructure development, including road, electricity and water supplies; power station maintenance; and development of the Thilawa special economic zone near Yangon, a project agreed by both countries in December.

Japan also confirmed it would forgive 176.1 billion ($1.74bn) of Myanmar’s debts -- the final portion of the 300 billion yen ($3.4 billion) that Tokyo pledged in April 2012 to cancel. The move was contingent on further reforms.

“In support of the development of Myanmar and having implemented its arrears clearance operation with Myan-mar, the Government of Japan decided to provide new yen loans as well as grant assistance,” the statement said.

Japan also announced an aid package worth up to 2.4 billion yen ($23 million) for water management in Yangon and a scholarship programme for young admin-istrators overseeing the country’s social and economic development.

On Saturday Abe visited the Thilawa project -- a 2,400 hectare (6,000 acre) site which will include a port and in-dustrial park -- as part of efforts to promote Japanese firms and his country’s infrastructure-building expertise.

A memorandum of understanding was also signed for the project between nine Myanmar companies and three from Japan -- including Mitsubishi -- according to the state-backed newspaper the New Light of Myanmar.

Abe is accompanied by a 40-strong delegation of bosses from some of Japan’s top companies, including Mitsubishi, Mitsui and infrastructure firms Taisei and JGC.

“Japan’s investments in Burma are truly extraordinary, and I think have taken many by surprise,” said Myanmar economics expert Sean Turnell before the announcement, using the country’s former name.

He said its investment push into Myanmar was both economic and geopolitical, with “rivalry with China” also driving policy.

Turnell said Japan had become the “dominant player” in Myanmar, with China facing flak from communities concerned over the environmental and social impact of several major infrastructure projects.

Germany will push in the next six months for discussions on resolving the disputes between Brussels and Beijing over Chinese telecom products and solar panels to avoid it ending in mutual tariffs, Merkel said.

Both she and Premier Li Keqiang, who is on his first foreign tour since taking office in March, told a joint press conference that they rejected trade protectionism which hurt both sides.

Under pressure from German industry, Merkel said Ger-many would do its utmost to resolve the issues by pushing for talks to avoid “lapsing into a kind of dispute which finally only ends in mutual tariffs”.

“I will, as head of the government, advocate that we, at the European level, as quickly as possible have intensive discussions with the Chinese side on the questions at issue,” Merkel added.

Germany is by far China’s biggest European trading part-ner.

While German motor vehicles and auto parts, machinery and electrical goods find a vast export market in the world’s second-largest economy, China needs technology from Ger-many.

German exports to China amounted to 66.6 billion euros ($86 billion) last year, according to official German data.

Li, whose tour has also taken in Switzerland, India and

Pakistan, said China “resolutely” rejected the European Union’s plans to probe the country’s telecom products and impose taxes on solar panels.

He said the move would not only threaten jobs in China and hit the branches concerned, but also affect the interests of European companies, consumers and industry.

“To this effect, this measure is a measure that doesn’t serve the particular interests and also damages others,” Li told re-porters through an interpreter.

Germany is the only stop among the EU’s 27 member states for Li on the trip, in a sign that Beijing wants to continue their special relationship, analysts say.

“From the German side, it’s all about trade. Germany sees China essentially as a large export market on which it’s increasingly dependent,” Germany expert Hans Kundnani, of the European Council on Foreign Relations, told AFP.

Merkel made two trips to Beijing within just seven months last year and said Sunday the two sides wanted to further bol-ster their already “close” relations, citing four areas -- industry, IT, urbanisation and agriculture.

But for China, Germany is not only economically important in providing much-needed technology but also plays a strategic part in helping to combat Beijing’s fear of the US and Europe teaming up against it, Kundnani said.

DENPASAR - Indonesia’s largest mobile phone operator, Telkomsel, has won a Bali Marketeers Champion 2013 award for communications, high-tech, and media category from Marketeers maga-zine and marketing institute MarkPlus Inc.

The award was presented to Telkomsel during the Indonesia Marketeers Festival 2013 held at Aston Denpasar Hotel and Convention Center.

“The award proves that marketing strategy which is suited to customers’ needs has received positive responses from the Balinese community. We are thankful to the Balinese customers and people who have enjoyed our services and prod-ucts,” Hasan Kurdi, head of Telkomsel sales and customer care for Bali region, said.

Indonesia Marketeers Festival 2013 is a forum of marketeer champions from privately-run com-panies, state-owned companies and government sectors in Bali province.

The festival which was for the first time held in Bali was themed “On Becoming Local Champion: Bali Is Strong, Indonesia is Glorious”.

The Bali Marketeer Champion 2013 award confirms the recognition of Telkomsel’s success in maintaining the predicate of Best Champion for the cellular operator category for a second straight year at the Bali Service Excellence Award (BSEA) 2013 event held by the marketing research institute MarkPlus Insight early this year.

Such awards are also given to local champions who have extraordinary performance over the past year.

“We have the experience in the past when fuel oil prices were raised. It did not affect small businesses too much. They were able to maintain conducive growth and even grew well,” I Dewa Nyoman Patra, the head of Bali’s Co-operatives and Small Scale Enterprise Service, said here on Monday.

He said he would not, however, rule out the possibility of small effect but it would not last long and the normal condition would return again.

Therefore, the local cooperative ser-vice chief reminded small and medium scale businesses of the need to remain efficient in their production so that their

business would continue to survive.“The production cost could be made

efficient so that businesses would not increase commodity prices that will burden consumers,” I Dewa Nyoman said.

He said that if the prices of their products increased too high it would threaten the survival of their business. He admitted that businesses faced slight increase in the production cost due to an increase in transportation spending.

“But we could not yet made an estimate on how high businesses will raise the prices of their products,” he added.

Minister Jero Wacik has urged the National Oil and Gas Entrepreneurs Association (Hiswana Migas) to continue to build gas refueling stations (SPBG).

“With as many gas refueling stations as possible, the government will find it easy to realize the pro-gram of oil conversion into gas,” Wacik said.

The energy minister expressed hope that he

would have dedicated a gas refueling station in Bali before the Asia-Pacific Economic Confer-ence (APEC).

Wacik said the conversion of fuel oil into gas was not an easy task but he was optimistic to make the government program a success.

According to him, the conversion of fuel oil into gas in Indonesia was necessary because oil production in the country continued to decline while the demand kept increasing.

But for a weekend gossip session over beers and seafood paella, the 35-year-old audiovisual producer and her friends settled on a venue that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago: a bar in a “favela,” one of the hillside slums that were long ruled by ruthless and heavily armed drug gangs and off-limits to outsiders.

The vast majority of Rio’s mur-ders still occur in the favelas, some of which are plagued by sporadic shootouts. But under a five-year-old “pacification” program aimed at making Rio safer ahead of next year’s World Cup and the 2016 Olympics, police once kept out now have bases in nearly three dozen of the 1,071 slums dotting the city.

The pacified favelas are the newest hotspots for both locals and foreign visitors, who are spending more time at the former no-go zones than traditional tourist mag-nets like the Christ the Redeemer statue. Now, there’s another reason to visit: the growing buzz about the best food and drink the pacified favelas have to offer.

A new Portuguese-language guidebook called “The Gastro-nomical Guide to the Favelas of Rio” refutes the idea that slum

food consists solely of deep-fried snacks by showcasing the people and places behind the shantytowns’ tastiest tapioca omelets, greatest grilled chicken, and most scrump-tious seafood stews and sushi.

“Food is an excellent tool for breaking down prejudice,” said the guide’s editor, Sergio Bloch. “For people with lingering worries about danger or prejudice against these places that were impossible to visit for so long, food is a wonderful rea-son to actually visit a favela.”

Bloch and his three researchers visited some 97 establishments in 11 favelas. Like reviewers from the Zagat or hallowed Michelin restau-rant guides, venues were judged on food, decor, service and cost.

But Bloch’s team often ran into situations no Zagat or Michelin reviewer has likely had to grapple with.

“We went to places where the food was great, but where the smell from a nearby Dumpster made it untenable,” said Bloch over rice and beans at Restaurante 48 in the Tabajaras slum, tucked into Rio’s Copacabana neighborhood. “Or sometimes we had problems with the smell coming from the gutters, which in some favelas are often

open-air sewers.”While many favelas lack in

basic sanitation, they often make up for with breathtaking views of the ocean and exclusive neigh-borhoods below the steep rocky outcroppings.

Twenty-two establishments covering the gamut of food and drink options in Rio’s slums made it into the guidebook. They include sit-down restaurants serving Brazil-ian favorites such as prime cuts of steak and feijoada bean-and-meat stews, as well as foreign specialties-turned-local-staples like pizza and sushi. The guide also showcases hole-in-the-wall juice bars, a hot dog stand and an ambulatory sing-ing and dancing empanada vendor named Adriana. In lieu of an ad-dress, her entry reads “circulating throughout the community,” and provides her cell phone number.

With its view of the Atlantic’s azure waters and its low prices, the Bar Lacubaco in the Vidigal slum could give many conventional Rio restaurants a run for their money. In the land of the $35 martini, where a dinner for two routinely adds up to more than $200, Lacu-baco’s main courses are just $5-$7 apiece.

PARIS — French anti-terrorism investigators were combing video surveillance tapes Sunday as they continued their manhunt for a suspect who stabbed a soldier in the throat in the commercial district of La Defense outside Paris.

The 23-year-old soldier, Cedric Cordier, was in uniform patrolling the busy underground corridors where shops and crowded public transport lines converge beneath the famous Arch of La Defense.

Saturday’s stabbing came days after a British soldier was hacked to death on a London street in broad daylight in a suspected terrorist at-tack that has raised fears of potential copycat strikes. However, there was no immediate confirmation of any link between the two attacks.

French police have surveillance video of a suspect taken before and after the attack. There are several secu-rity cameras operated by public trans-port agency RATP and others placed throughout the underground shopping center, according to one police official who spoke on condition of anonym-ity because he wasn’t authorized to discuss terrorism investigations.

The official, who has not seen the videos himself, said investiga-tors describe the suspect as tall. He couldn’t provide any other descrip-tion of the suspect. Police are going over videos to try to identify the suspect, trace his escape route and determine whether he was acting alone, the official said.

Cordier remained hospitalized Sunday, but officials said his throat wound wasn’t life-threatening.

The French soldier was on a group patrol as part of a national protection program when he was attacked from behind.

Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, who visited Cordier at the hospital Saturday evening, said he had been targeted because he was a soldier. Anti-terrorism investigators are leading the hunt for the attacker, but officials have yet to determine whether terrorism is involved, the police official said. Police also ques-tioned witnesses to the attack.

Speaking shortly after the attack while on an official visit to Ethiopia, President Francois Hollande said that while “all hypotheses” will be investigated, there didn’t appear to be a link with Wednesday’s deadly attack in London.

The people are entitled to health care, Jokowi, as he is popularly known, said.

“We are always available for negotiation , any time any minute,” he said on Monday at Halim Perdanakusuma airport seeing off President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on a foreign trip.

Recently more than ten of hospitals in the city withdrew from taking part in the city`s public health program over payment dispute.

Jokowi said currently the city administration is still calculating the premium for health security.

He said in Jakarta the premium already reached Rp23,000 higher than Rp15,000 nationally.

“The problem, therefore, lies in technical implementation. We can discuss about that but don`t back out,” he said.

When asked about interpellation move in the city council, Jokowi said he is ready to give explanation about the problem surrounding the public health program including about some hospitals deciding to terminate participation in the program.

DPD chairman Irman Gusman, along with council members Aidil Fitri Syah and Bahar Ngitung of South Sulawesi, R Ella M Giri Komala of West Java and GKR. Ayu Koes Indriyah of Central Java visited Moscow for three days at the invitation of Russian Federal Council Chairman V I Matvienko, Lailal K. Yuniarti, first secretary of the Indonesian embassy in Russia for information, education and socio-cultural affairs said in an e-mailed statement on Monday.

While in Moscow, the DPD delegation accompanied by Indonesian Ambassador to Russia Djauhari Oratmangun met with Matvienko, Russian Foreign Minister SV Lavrov, and Deputy Speaker of the Lower House N Levichev.

At the meeting, both sides agreed on the need to develop sister city and sister province relations in all fields, Lailal said.

Only Indonesia’s Palembang and Russia’s Belgorod have so far es-tablished sister city relations. The two countries are initiating sister province cooperation between Yogyakarta (Indonesia) and St. Petersburg (Russia).

Irman expressed hope that other provinces and cities in both countries will soon follow suit.

At a meeting with the Russian foreign minister, both sides opined that diplomatic relations between the two countries at bilateral and multilateral levels have been running well.

Foreign Minister Lavrov underscored the importance of inter-par-liamentary cooperation to support the tasks and functions of the two governments.

AntaraJAKARTA - President Susilo

Bambang Yudhoyono decides to accept the Statesman of the Year award presented by a US-based NGO The Appeal of Conscience Foundation despite protest from activists in Indonesia.

According to the awarding NGO the award is given to President Yudhoyono as the rep-resentative of Indonesia which has shown progress in democracy and strong commitment in pro-moting peace. However activists protest the award saying that the president is not yet successful in solving violence against minority in Indonesia.

“I understand that there are protests from activists about this award. However let’s look at this as an opportunity for Indonesia to work harder in the future,” the president said.

Yudhoyono emphasized his visit to Sweden and New York starting May 27 to June 2 is not for the purpose of accepting the award but to chair a meeting of

High Level Panel for Post MDGs 2015 and hand over the meet-ing’s draft of recommendation to the United Nations’ Secretary general Ban Ki Moon.

Earlier a religious organiza-tion figure, Benny Susetyo, urged President Susilo Bambang Yud-hoyono to reconsider his decision to accept an award from the Ap-peal of Conscience Foundation (AFC).

“The President had better re-flect and reconsider his decision to accept the World Statesman Award 2013,” the secretary of the Commission for Religions and Faiths of the Indonesian Bishops` Conference said.

He said if the President fi-nal ly decided to accept the award the event must be used as a momentum for the govern-ment to be more serious in the handling of cases of intolerance and human rights violations in the country.

“If the award is accepted and it will not be followed by improve-ment in the handling of violent

cases the award would only draw international community`s cyni-cism on Indonesia,” he said.

Political ethics professor of the Driyarkara Philosophy High Learning Institute Franz Magnis Suseno SJ had earlier sent a letter to protest the planned presenta-tion of the award to President Yudhoyono.

“It could discredit ACH`s claim as an institution that aims to promote morality,” he said in the open letter.

He said the government had so far done nothing to protect victims of conflicts over freedom of faith like in the cases of Ah-madiyah and Shiite groups.

Presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha meanwhile has asked all parties not to misinter-pret the planned award presenta-tion.

“If any individual or group in the country questions the planned presentation of the award we cer-tainly would accept them in the context of freedom of speech,” he said.

“If it becomes an ode to tolerance, that would be even more gratifying,” she added.

The runner-up award, the Grand Prix, went to Joel and Ethan Coen’s “Inside Llewyn Davis” starring Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake and newcomer Oscar Isaac in the title role of a luckless folk singer in 1960s New York.

The Coens’ film “Barton Fink” won Cannes in 1991 and the brothers last entered the running in 2007 with “No Country for Old Men”.

Mexico’s Amat Escalante claimed best director for the ultra-violent “Heli” about his country’s blood-drenched drug wars.

French actress Berenice Bejo took home best actress honours as a har-ried Parisian mother in Iranian Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi’s patchwork family drama “The Past”.

Bejo, 36, made her name in the hit French silent movie “The Artist”.

One of the stars of Hollywood’s 1970s golden age, 76-year-old Bruce Dern, took the best actor prize for his performance as an alcoholic father in Alexander Payne’s recession-era road movie “Nebraska”.

China’s Jia Zhangke won the best screenplay award for “A Touch of Sin”, which offered a shocking look at rampant corruption and exploitation in his country.

And an emotional Japanese drama about young boys switched at birth, Hirokazu Koreeda’s “Like Father, Like Son”, bagged the third-place jury prize.

Adapted from a graphic novel of the same name, “Blue” emerged as an instant favourite during the 12-day festival on France’s Cote d’Azur.

“You realise the film has won your heart without ever really asking for it, and you leave the cinema utterly love-sick,” said London’s Daily Telegraph critic Robbie Collin.

But in a dissenting critique, New York Times critic Manohla Dargis questioned the director’s motives in including lengthy scenes of hardcore sex.

“The movie feels far more about Mr Kechiche’s desires than anything else,” she said.

Kechiche won the Cesar, the French Oscar, for the 2003 drama “Games of Love and Chance” set among teenag-ers in the housing projects on Paris’ outskirts, and again for 2007’s “The Secret of the Grain”, also released under the English title “Couscous”.

In a year in which gay themes resonated on and off screen, Steven Soderbergh’s made-for-TV biopic of celebrity pianist Liberace and his long-time lover, “Behind the Candelabra”, also drew praise at Cannes for its stars Michael Douglas and Matt Damon.

The Besakih’s name is come from the word of Basuki, the old language from Sanskrit Wasuki, and then it become the Ancient Java Language. In this Sanskrit, the Basuki means congratulation. In mythology of Samudramanthana has mentioned that Basuki is a dragon that twines the Mount Mandara. The omission has come from tradition megalithic which had been indicated that it had to be sanctified place. It seems, the Besakih is coming from very old era which is far before the existence of Hinduism influence. Hereinafter, an Ancient Bali king of Sri Kesari Warmadewa found the Merajan Selonding Temple in this temple complex area. He also com-mands to build the Blanjong Monu-ment that is located in Sanur Village. The Besakih Temple complex is built pursuant to cosmos balance. So, this building can deputize nature as symbolic of the world balance existence.

As we familiarize, that the point direction way like East, South, West, North, and middle as center point and

each direction is named by Mandala. In Hindu philosophy, Panca Dewata is manifestation of Siwa God. Like Penataran Agung Temple as center, we find in its courtyard conception show the solidarity conception between the original Indonesia culture namely tradition megalithic in form of Punden Berundak-undak with the Hinduism concept. The ancient omissions which is existing in Besakih Temple complex can be classified into 2 types those are omission pertained by megalithic tra-dition and classic era. Besakih Temple beside as the altar for Hindu people in Bali, it is also as tourist destination which is a lot of visited by tourists.

LeBron James profited from a tac-tical switch, scored 22 points and got plenty of help as the Heat reclaimed the home-court advantage they lost two nights earlier. Dwyane Wade had 18 points, and Udonis Haslem added 17.

“I made a conscious effort to get down in the post tonight, to put pres-sure on their defense,” James said. “The coaching staff wanted me to be down there tonight, and my teammates allowed me to do that.”

It was a move reminiscent of when the Los Angeles Lakers played Magic Johnson in the post in place of the in-jured Kareem Abdul-Jabbar during the NBA Finals more than two decades ago. And it worked just as well.

James rebounded from the two late turnovers that cost Miami in Game 2 by scoring 22 points, grabbing four rebounds and dishing out three assists. Hours after Dwyane Wade learned he would only be tagged with a flagrant foul from Game 2 and not a suspen-sion, he finished with 18 points, eight assists and four rebounds. Chris Bosh added 15 points and three rebounds and all five Miami starters reached double figures.

The move allowed Miami to out-score Indiana 56-32 in the paint.

Perhaps that should be expected from a team with so much scoring punch and that has won 23 of its last 24 on the road, but there were more surprising statistics in other areas.

Miami committed a playoff fran-chise-low one turnover in the first half and finished with only five. James finished with none.

The Heat shot 54.5 percent against a team that finished the regular season with the NBA’s best defensive field goal percentage and also made 24 of 28 free throws.

They matched the highest scoring output in a quarter during this season’s playoffs with 34, broke the franchise playoff record for points in a half (70) and fell one point short of tying the third-highest point total in a playoff game in franchise history.

But the biggest difference between the first two games and Sunday’s com-fortable win was what James’ work on the inside.

“It was something we wanted to get to just to help settle us and get into a more aggressive attack,” coach Erik Spoelstra said. “We wanted to be a little more aggressive, a little more committed to getting into the paint and seeing what would happen. LeBron was very committed and focused not

to settle.” Now, with Game 4 sched-uled for Tuesday, it’s the Pacers turn to adjust.

David West led Indiana with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Roy Hibbert had 20 points and 17 re-bounds. Paul George finished with 13 points and eight assists, not nearly enough to keep the Pacers perfect at home in the postseason.

Indiana, which fell to 6-1 at home in the playoffs, must win its next home game to even the series again.

“He (James) was in the post doing a lot of work, and we have to do a better job of helping Paul out,” Hibbert said. “LeBron can’t get five or six dribbles to get a post move. ... We have to make adjustments.”

Miami took advantage of a wild first quarter to build a 34-30 lead, then turned the game with James taking control in a 12-point second quarter.

He scored half of the points in an 8-2 run that gave the Heat what was then their biggest lead of the series, 42-32. A few minutes later, James did it again, making a 15-footer with 1.3 seconds left in the half to give Miami a 70-56 halftime lead and the franchise first-half scoring record. “We had to not play the score, play the lead, play the game,” James said.

naco GP stewards are to prepare a report for the FIA.

A statement said the governing body “may bring the matter before the International Tribunal”.

The body, effectively for these purposes the FIA’s court, can im-pose any number of penalties, rang-ing from exclusion from the world championship to a fine.

Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali said: “As it is to do with the sporting regulations, you might expect a sporting penalty, but because it is not really clear what could be the effect on the race weekend, it is maybe bigger than that.

“I honestly don’t know what should be the solution. Because there is no precedent, I have no idea what should happen.”

Red Bull and Ferrari have ac-cused Mercedes of breaking article 22.4 of the sporting regulations, which forbids in-season testing other than for a single three-day young driver test or for very limited straight-line aerodynamic tests.

“A three-day test has taken place with a current car running on tyres

that are going to be used in the next grand prix and irrelevant of what you call it, that’s testing” Christian Horner Red Bull team principal

Pirelli say they are allowed to ask teams to do up to 1,000km of testing, which was as much as Mercedes did over three days at the Circuit de Catalunya in the immediate aftermath of the Span-ish Grand Prix, the race before Monaco.

But Red Bull and Ferrari say the rules state this must only be with a car that is at least two years old. Mercedes used their 2013 car. Rival teams were not informed about the test, which not only involved Mer-cedes’ 2013 car but also race drivers Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton.

Rival teams are angry because extra testing could give Mercedes a technical advantage. Mercedes say they sought permission from the FIA, which approved the test. Mercedes have been strug-gling with heavy tyre usage this season.

The tyres used were develop-ment designs for next season and a new tyre Pirelli wants to introduce

at the Canadian Grand Prix, the next event after Monaco.

Pirelli is aiming to introduce rear tyres that are less vulnerable to delamination following a series of failures. But the plan is in dispute - Ferrari, Lotus and Force India have yet to approve it.

Red Bull team principal Chris-tian Horner said he had only learnt about the test on Saturday night. “I can understand Pirelli wanting to test the tyres,” he said.

“What’s disappointing is it’s been done in not a transparent man-ner. A three-day test has taken place with a current car running on tyres that are going to be used in the next grand prix and irrelevant of what you call it, that’s testing.”

He added: “We need to deal with it through the proper channels so that’s what we’ll look at doing.”

A Ferrari spokesman added: “Pirelli can offer to the teams the chance to do 1,000km of testing for tyre development and safety. But the fundamental aspect is the year of the car because if you use a current car it should be allegedly a breach of article 22.

“It was very emotional,” said Ney-mar as he bid farewell to his team and Brazilian football. “The movie of my life since I was a little kid came to my mind at that moment.”

WARSAW, Poland — The agent for Robert Lewandowski said Monday the Borussia Dortmund striker will transfer to Bayern Mu-nich in a matter of weeks.

Asked Monday on Poland’s TVN24 whether Lewandowski is moving to Munich, agent Cezary Kucharski simply replied: “Yes.” He said that talks between the clubs are under way, but that nothing had been signed.

The 24-year-old Lewandowski remained tight-lipped about his plans after Dortmund’s loss to Bayern in the Champions League final on Saturday, but outgoing Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes hinted after the game that the Polish striker is joining the Bundesliga champions.

Kucharski said Lewandowski is “curious to get to know a new club and new life.” Lewandowski was the second best scorer in the German league this season with 24 goals in 31 games. He scored all four goals in a 4-1 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinals.

He has another season on his contract with Dortmund. Dortmund’s chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke reacted angrily to Heynckes’ apparent indiscretion after the final and said Dortmund had not re-ceived a formal transfer request from Bayern. Watzke had initially set a deadline of May 15 for offers for Lewandowski.

Dortmund has a dilemma: either let Lewandowski go now for a fat transfer fee or see him leave for free once his contract is over.

If Lewandowski were to leave, Dortmund would prefer to see him go to a foreign club rather than join the Bundesliga rival, which has already lured one of its other stars, the highly talented midfielder Mario Goetze. Goetze, however, had an exit clause in his contract that Lewandowski doesn’t have.

LORIENT , France — For David Beckham the footballer, this really was the very end. Now begins the rest of his already very famous life.

At a small, homely stadium on the Brittany coast of west-ern France, with seagulls flying overhead and a world away from football temples like Manchester United’s Old Trafford where fans used to sing his name, Beckham on Sunday officially became football’s most famous new retiree.

A thigh injury made Beckham unavailable for Paris Saint-Ger-main’s final match of the season. Coach Carlo Ancelotti had also previously suggested that the plas-tic turf pitch in Lorient’s stadium might be too taxing for Beckham’s 38-year-old legs.

So Beckham sat this one out. He didn’t have to make the trip, since he wasn’t on the team, but still he tagged along for the ride one last time.

Hands buried in the pockets of his red team top, his usually im-maculately coiffed hair toasting under a wooly black hat, Beckham took his place on the PSG bench with zero fanfare. He was so incon-spicuous that it’s probably safe to say that many in the 16,336-strong crowd didn’t realize he was there at all, that they were party to a final little dollop of Beckham football history.

Beckham announced his retire-ment May 16. He shed tears two days later at his last home game for PSG, getting a rousing send-off and standing ovation in Paris. That, as it turned out, was the last match of his career. Ancelotti said Beckham picked up an injury in that game, was unable to train in the week since, “and so he was not able to play” on Sunday.

Even though he had no role in the 3-1 win for PSG, Beckham will find this match hard to forget — and not merely because it marked the finish to his 21 seasons as a professional footballer, a journey that saw him win titles and trophies with Man Utd, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy and now the new French champions.

Lorient President Loic Fery marked the occasion Sunday by giving Beckham one of his team’s bright orange jerseys with Beck-ham’s name on the back above the number seven and the word “Kenavo,” which means “Good-bye” in Breton, the Celtic language

to win a record-equalling 11th Mexican league title on Sunday, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat after two late goals forced extra time.

The Eagles trailed 1-0 from the first leg of the final and were quickly a man down at the Azteca after midfielder Jesus Molina was sent off in the 14th minute.

They fell behind on the night, and 2-0 on aggregate, to a 20th minute goal by Colombia striker Teofilo Gutierrez and looked set for defeat before staging a miraculous late salvo at two corner kicks.

Colombian centre back Aquivaldo Mosquera headed America’s equal-iser in the 89th minute from Argentine Rubens Sambueza’s corner.

In the third minute of added time, America goalkeeper Moises Muñoz came up into the Cruz Azul box for another corner and his header was deflected by defender Alejandro Castro into the net to force an extra 30 minutes.

There were no goals in extra time leading to penalties with Cruz Azul, who been so close to their first championship since 1997, starting the shootout badly when striker Javier Orozco had his penalty saved and Castro slipped and sent his over the bar. America equalled arch-rivals Guadalajara with their 11th crown.

SAO PAULO — Neymar couldn’t hold back the tears in his last match with Santos before joining Barcelona. Neymar cried profusely as the Brazilian national anthem was sung before the match against Flamengo on Sunday in the first round of the Brazilian league.

where he wanted to play.He is set to sign a five-year contract

with Barcelona on Monday, becoming the latest addition to a star-filled squad that already includes four-time FIFA Player of the Year Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta.

“It’s a dream come true to be able to play for a team like Barcelona. I’ve always dreamed about doing that and now it’s happening,” Neymar said. “It

will be a great honor to play with players like Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Dani Alves.”

The striker said he played Sunday to be able to wear Santos’ jersey at least one more time and to hear the fans chant his name again. But when he was introduced, he was booed by the Flamengo fans that dominated the crowd at the Estadio Nacional in Brasilia.

During the national anthem the

striker couldn’t hide his emotions. He started crying as he stood alongside his teammates, closing his eyes and dropping his head down. He said he also cried a lot at the team’s hotel before heading to the stadium and in the changing room as well.

“It’s not easy for him, but we tried to help him as much as possible,” Santos defender Leo said. Neymar didn’t play particularly well in his last Santos match, though, struggling in the 0-0 draw.

He had a few chances in the first half, the most significant one a missed shot from outside the area in the 16th minute. He almost scored with a well-placed free kick in the 69th, but goalkeeper Felipe made the stop before the ball reached the upper corner.

More than 60,000 people attended the farewell match, which also served as the final test event at the venue ahead of the Confederations Cup. It will host the opener of the warm-up tournament on June 15, when Neymar will be back when Brazil faces Japan. He is only expected to join Barcelona after the World Cup warm-up tournament.

Neymar is leaving Santos a year before the end of his contract, which was intended to keep him in the club until the 2014 World Cup.

He began playing for Santos as a kid and quickly became its biggest star since Pele left the club in the 1970s. Neymar joined the senior squad in 2009 and has helped the club win six titles, including the 2010 Brazilian Cup, the 2011 Copa Libertadores and three straight Sao Paulo state champi-onships. He is Santos’ leading scorer in the post-Pele era with 138 goals in 230 matches.

“It’s a great honor to have played for Santos for so long, I’ve been here nearly my entire life,” Neymar said. “Today it ends part of my history with the club but I’ll be back. I’m saying goodbye but I’ll be back.”

His move to Barcelona ended years of speculation about which team would be the first to persuade him to make the move to Europe. Neymar never hid his desire to one day play for Barcelona, but Madrid became a real option to sign him this week. Bayern Munich and Chelsea also reportedly made high bids for the Brazilian star. Financial details of the Barcelona transfer were not of-ficially disclosed.

Fans faced lines of up to 1 kilome-ter (0.62 mile) to get into the Estadio Nacional on Sunday, one of the most expensive built for the Confederations Cup and the World Cup. The stadium’s lighting system failed partially, but it did not affect the match’s progress.

of Brittany. Up in the stands, fans played bagpipes and luxuriated in the warm evening sun.

In the 81st minute, the match turned bizarre. Referee Benoit Bastien sent off PSG’s keeper, Ronan Le Crom, for felling Julien Quercia as the Lorient forward was sprinting for the ball in front of the Paris goal.

Le Crom is a reserve ‘keeper for PSG. He was born in Lorient. At age 38, it’s possible this is his last sea-son. So Ancelotti brought him on, a kind gesture, for the last 30 minutes, replacing Alphonse Areola.

When Le Crom was then sent off, that left no one to guard PSG’s goal. Ancelotti called on Mamadou Sakho, a defender, to do the job. Sakho was sitting next to Beckham on the bench. They had shared

a blanket to warm their legs and joked around while watching the game. Then, suddenly, Sakho was having to borrow Areola’s used pink jersey and pull on a pair of goalkeeper’s gloves.

His first task: facing the spot kick the referee awarded for Le Crom’s foul. Beating Sakho was child’s play for Arnaud Le Lan, who easily slotted away the penalty for Lorient. Sakho didn’t even dive to stop it.

Le Crom trudged off in tears. PSG teammates consoled him with a group hug. Beckham patted him on the head.

“It’s most likely the last match of his career,” PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi said of Le Crom. “The referee could have been a bit softer with him and shown a bit of compassion.”

English midfielder David Beckham of Paris Saint Germain walks on the field during the French League One soccer match against Lorient, Sunday, May 26, 2013 in Lorient, western France. Beckham play officially his last game tonight as a professional player.

Beckham puts full stop on football career

of Brittany.

It is based on the nature conception which is dis-seminating the fundamental temple complex that is arranged to pursuant of the way direction. So, this building can deputize nature as symbolic of the world balance existence.

As we familiarize, that the point direction way like East, South, West, North, and middle as center point and

AntaraJAKARTA - Populist Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo warns against

attempt to derail the city`s public health program, saying any problem could be ironed out through negotiations.

(kmb27)

Besides, the Badung County government also planned to setup stalls and parking area where the stalls would be placed in one area. The Regent of Badung AA Gde Agung said not long ago that with such model arrangement was expected the Bangkung River Bridge area could look nicer and the number of traders could be controlled. According to him, the arrangement of stalls at Bangkung River Bridge would be similar to Taman Ayun.

He said the arrangement would be meaningless without being ac-companied with the availability of clean water. Therefore, he instructed relevant agencies to immediately find out a solution to ensure clean water supply in the region. (kmb25)

Since the underpass landscaping had not met those three aspects, his party also ensured a complete remodeling. It was estimated to be carried out in 2014. (kmb25)

EvEry Temple and Shrine has a special date for it annual Ceremony, or “ Odalan “, every 210 days according to Balinese calendar, including the smaller ancestral shrine which each family possesses. Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. There are also times when the entire island celebrated the same Holiday, such as at Galungan, Kuningan, Nyepi day, Saraswati day, Tumpek Landep day, Pagerwesi day, Tumpek Wayang day etc.

The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is con-sidered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ the religious celebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some temple celebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakih temple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and most of the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importance of the occasion.

The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed with pieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sailings, decorations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold and Chinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the four corners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines.

In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbul-umbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. In front of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, rice and other products of the land. Most beautiful to see are the girls in their colorful attire, carrying offerings, arrangements of all kinds fruits and colored cakes, to the Temple. Every visitor admires the grace with which the carry their load on their heads.

(kmb26)

Tunis-born Kechiche, 52, dedicated the prize from the world’s top cinema showcase to the youth of France, and the revolutionaries of the Arab Spring.

themselves freely and to love in full freedom,” he said, adding later that he hoped the film would also be distributed in socially conservative Tunisia.

Spielberg said the international jury including fellow Oscar winners Ang Lee, Nicole Kidman and Christoph Waltz had had no qualms about the explicit sex on screen, praising the film team’s “courage”, and predicted a wide art-house run.

“For me, the film is a great love story and the fact that it is a great love story made all of us feel like we were privi-leged, not embarrassed, to be flies on the wall -- privileged to have been invited to see this story of deep love and deep heartbreak evolve from the beginning, in a wonderful way where time stood still,” he told reporters.

“We were absolutely spellbound by the brilliance of the performances of those amazing young actresses and all the cast, and especially by the way the director observed his players, the way he just let the characters breathe. We just all found it was a profound love story.”

The prize came on the day of a major demonstration in Paris against a new law making France the 14th country

worldwide to legalise same-sex marriage.Asked whether the film had a political message, the 19-year-old

Exarchopoulos said it was first and foremost about love.
