The Fest of the Yam is held annually, before the harvest begins.New yams could not be eaten until someone had first offer them to the goods.Before the Yam Festival, al yams are throw away.

Connections…Connections…The corn to my Mexican culture is as much important as the yams to the Igbo people. Both are needed to sustain a home. Yams are eaten every day. The corn is always eaten in one way or another, in tortillas, elotes, tamales, tostadas,tocos, etc.
