Rectangle indicates copy is being moved.

Plus sign indicates text is being copied.

Position the insertion point in the word you wish to replace.In the Proofing group on the Review tab, click Thesaurus.In the Research task pane, hold the mouse over the appropriate word, click the down arrow, and then click Insert.
