THE RIGHT SOLUTIONS FOR MORE FLEXIBILITY AND EFFICIENCY

Many paths, one goal: “Sensor Intelligence.” epitomizes our clear focus on sensor technology as a data provider for the intelligent factory, thus making it the most fundamental module for provi-ding the highest possible levels of transparency in the supply chain. With our broad product and solution portfolio, we make sure that you are able to capture the necessary data reliably, evaluate it intelligently, and employ it purposefully for your application:

• To produce higher-quality goods in a more efficient and flexible way while saving resources • To enable better traceability of goods • To implement innovative safety concepts

In the context of Industry 4.0, sensors that communicate not just at controller level but also at the higher data level are needed. Our sensors can already do both: They send data reliably to the PLC, but also to higher-level data and software systems. This ensures that this proven technology can continue to be used going forward but you can take advantage of the additional benefits on a gradu-al basis.

In this issue of SICKinnovations, we present products, systems, and services which already provide the right solutions for your latest challenges.

For us, innovation means creating something new or improving something that already exists and, in so doing, make you as our customers even stronger. The starting point for this is always our products – high-quality and tailored to your requirements. We would like to present you our most current products on the following pages.

MULTITASK PHOTOELECTRIC SENSORS Reflex Array

Product descriptionIn combination with a reflector, the Reflex Array MultiTask photoelectric sensor detects leading edges of small, flat, transparent or unevenly formed objects on conveyor belts within its light array. Detection takes place regardless of where and how the objects are posi-tioned on a conveyor belt. The photo-electric sensor reliably detects objects such as glass bottles and polybags.

The Reflex Array can even detect perfo-rated objects easily without triggering multiple switching operations. This re-duces the overall costs and accelerates the commissioning process. Compared to other solutions that involve use of individual photoelectric sensors or small light grids, Reflex Array offers substan-tial cost benefits.

At a glance• RAY10: 25 mm-high light array,

detects objects ≥ 5 mm• RAY26: 55 mm-high light array,

three variants, detects objects ≥ 3 mm, ≥ 5 mm or ≥ 10 mm

EventCam MULTITASK PHOTOELECTRIC SENSORS

Product descriptionWhy has there been a fault in the pro-duction process? Why has my scanner triggered? Want to find out the answers to these questions, without having to physically monitor the production pro-cess yourself? If so, look no further than the SICK EventCam, which uses real video footage and images to help you identify the cause. The SICK EventCam supplies an image or video of a defined time period, occurring immediately

before or after a trigger signal. Infor-mation on the cause of protective field violations or why material was rejected ensure greater process transparency and increase system throughput. The camera integrates seamlessly into SICK’s industrial sensor technology, and data can be transmitted directly via FTP to a server and stored inside the camera itself.

FLOW SENSORS FtMg

Product descriptionThe FTMg thermal flowmeter measures gas flow and temperature as well as the process pressure, making it a cost-sav-ing multi-talent. With high measurement dynamics and low pressure loss, it mea-sures non-corrosive gases with extreme efficiency. The contrast-rich color display enables easy operation of the FTMg and allows for representation of several measured values as a process diagram.

Internal data logging over seven days and integrated static evaluation helps detect even the smallest leaks in a pneumatic systems. PoE also enables simple web-based connection to a PC or a cloud to make energy consumption more transparent. All measurement data can be transmitted via IO-Link or with switching and analog signals.

PBs plus PRESSURE SENSORS

Product descriptionThe PBS plus is an electronic pres-sure switch, pressure transmitter and display in one and is available with up to two switching outputs, analog output and IO-Link. It is set using three large pushbuttons and the display or via IO-Link. The housing can be twisted in two places - the display and the electrical connection can be optimally aligned in any mounting situation. With measuring ranges of 0.4 bar to 1,000 bar (gauge pressure), the PBS plus can be used in

many different applications. It also has absolute pressure and vacuum measur-ing ranges. The PBS plus is highly resis-tant to corrosion due to the fully-welded stainless steel membrane. Process data is transmitted to the control via IO-Link as measured values in bar. The diagnostic options make it possible for temperature values to be read out in °C and minimum and maximum values for temperature and pressure to be monitored.

At a glance• Switchable switching outputs

(PNP/NPN) and analog output (current/voltage)

• Scalable analog output (5:1 turn down)

• High measurement accuracy: ± 0.5%

• IO-Link for transmitting process data to the control as measured values in bar

• Housing can be twisted in two places (process connection/display) and display can be rotated by 180°

• Common process connections, also with flush-mounted membrane

Your benefits• Low storage costs, short delivery

times, low number of variants• Reduced installation time since

housing and display can be rotated at two points

• Rugged design: stainless steel mea-suring cell

• No special conversion of IO-Link process data is required - it is shown automatically as measured values in bar

• Extensive diagnosis options via IO-Link (e.g. pressure peaks, ambient temperature) deliver data for predic-tive maintenance

• Economic solution for hydrostatic lev-el measurement (thanks to high accu-racy and small measuring ranges)

VERIFICATION AND OPTIMIZATION Factory Acceptance Test

Product descriptionSICK offers a factory acceptance test to ensure that products work like the customer ordered them. That means, before sending out the goods, a SICK team of experts tests the products in the presence of the customer using a device-specific protocol. The test is done at SICK. The extent of the thorough check depends on the type of order and any customer-specific requirements.

The test serves as verification that the products fulfill the functional require-ments of the customer. The customer receives an approval and test protocol which confirms the functionality of the products. The factory acceptance test offers the customer the chance to get to know the SICK operating principle direct-ly on-site. The customer also gets insight into the SICK production process.
