Quite some time has passed since the last edition. We did not go into winter-sleep, but rather were busy working on new projects and developing new products and product improvements, which we will present in the course of this year.

New Motor Fan Pulley

In edition 75 we presented the new metal pulley for the gear box. In addition to this a fan pulley from metal is now available too.

Due to the CNC processed locating bore it fits on the motor shaft exactly, does not wear out so fast and as a result allows for smoother operation.

This novelty will be part of the standard configuration of Unimat motors presumably from summer.

A small quantity of this new item (Art. No. A1M100030) is already on stock. If you want to upgrade you can order it now.

Review of Unimat ML in RAD&KETTE

A very detailed test review of the Unimat MetalLine has been published in the latest edition 2/2010 of RAD&KETTE (Wheel&Track)

Mr. Wagner tested the various machine configurations by using them for some of his current model projects, for instance a cutter bar on a scale of 1:8.

U nimatrix – the Unimat Group on Facebook

We were very pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon a Unimat group on Facebook. It has been created by a Unimat user from the United States and a few others already joined it.

Should you be using Facebook already, we would like to invite you to join this group too. It would be great to see this group grow and find interesting discussions as well as photos of machines and models there soon.

Unimat Education – Project Finger Joints

For Unimat in education a new project for secondary level and TVET is available. With the Unimat vertical mill students manufacture finger joints allowing for a positive interlocking fit of two pieces of wood. As all the Unimat Education projects also this one is documented with plans, instructions and pictures for better understanding.

If you are interested in our education program we would be pleased to meet you in person at this year's didacta in Cologne. It will be our pleasure to introduce you to our machines, projects and concepts.

You will find us there in in Hall 10.1, Stand B 021. March 16th to 20th 2010.

Unimat CNC – Computer for Machine Control

To control the Unimat CNC, the UNITurn/UNIMill CNC as well as some of the StepFour machines we now offer an industrial computer with pre-installed software. Due to the robust aluminium housing, the external power adaptor and the flash drive this computer is especially suitable for operation in workshop environments

The free operating system Ubuntu (with additional packages ), the control software emc2 and all required machine configuration files are already installed and can be used right away. Thanks to the Ethernet adapter updates can be can be conveniently installed over the Internet.

Technical data:1 GB Ram, 1,2 GHz CPU, 8 GB flash drive, 4xUSB, 2x PS/2, 1xLPT, 1x Serial, external power adaptor

Unimat CNC – Prototyping for Jewellers

With a special adapter wax rings can be manufactured easily on the Unimat CNC 4-axis vertical mill (UNI-FRAES-4) .

After designing the ring geometry in a CAD software it can be exported to an STL-file. The 123WaxRing-Wizard of the CAM-Software DeskProto 5 opens this file. After a view small adjustments and inputs DeskProto calculates the tool paths for the entire process.

Now the model can be manufactured on Unimat CNC. The standard wax disc can easily be placed on the adapter. Only one cutting tool is necessary, the zero point has to be set only one time.
