Thanks to everyone who has sent run reports and photos of recent events. I have renominated for the position of Newsletter editor for a further 12 months. Should my nomination be successful I will look forward to presenting this important production to you on a quarterly basis. I would also like to put on the record that I will not renominate for the 2016 year (next yr) as I believe it is important to bring new blood and life to the important roll of Newsletter Editor. I have enjoyed producing this Newsletter but feel it is time to hand over to a new Editor and take the production of this publication forward. By the way I am still in the market for a HX- HZ vehicle either a wagon or possibly a ute. Please keep me in mind if you see something. Andrew Maclean Newsletter Editor

It was a fine weekend that greeted us for the Clubs annual long weekend escapade which was held at the picturesque location of Lakes Entrance. Most members made the journey down during Friday with yours truly leaving about 230pm Friday afternoon. It was important to get to Lakes in time for the fish and chip dinner at 7pm approx and thanks to Neil for ringing to check on our progress and predetermine what we wanted for dinner. Our accommodation was arranged at the Whiter’s holiday village where a large selection of very comfortable cabins awaited us. Some members also chose to provide their own accommodation which was also catered for.

As we expected the weather gods were shining upon us and we woke to a glorious day and more importantly, Neil and Ian were preparing their usual cooked breakfast for all of us to enjoy and enable us to continue with the process of meeting and greeting. Saturday was a relaxing day and members spent the day wandering through Lakes Entrance checking out all that was on offer in preparation for our dinner date at the local RSL that evening. This was a great night with all members and families in attendance. The venue was full, always a good sign, and as you can tell from the photos the meals were exceptional and the variety of food available was

extraordinary. Once the night had concluded we retired for the day, ready for our big adventure the next day by boat to Metung.

Weekend at Lakes Entrance March 6-9 2015

After another superbly prepared breakfast of bacon and eggs etc (prepared dutifully by you know who), Members made their way to the port of Lakes Entrance around 1030am to board the cruiser for a leisurely trip across the lakes to Metung, where yet another meal waited us. The Lakes looked spectacular as there was only a slight breeze, glorious sunshine and cloudless skies. The scenery was also splendent with autumn colours on full show and many pleasure craft out and about doing what they do. The journey took just on an hour and was a great way to spend the morning prior to our arrival at the Metung Pub located right on the lakes offering superb views of the

marina and associated waterways. Our menu was prepared and offered a nice choice of foods at very reasonable prices. We spent about 1.5 hours in a lovely relaxed atmosphere, great food, and views to behold. When our lunch was concluded we boarded our cruiser for the return journey and shared in jovial

conversation up to our arrival back in port. Everyone had a fantastic time and was an excellent choice of activity for the day. After a great day Sunday the evening was a lot more leisurely and concluded with a group barbecue at the caravan park and a little amber fluid etc to round off festivities.

Monday was again a lovely morning. Most of us were preparing for our homeward journey, some were staying on and others were actually moving on and continuing with their particular holiday, vacation activities and pursuits. A final breakfast was had by all and we parted company having had a fabulous weekend. This was my first weekend away with the club after many years as a member. Myself and Wendy had a great time and can recommend it to all members and encourage you all to “keep that date’ in preparation for next years event.

I wish to publicly thank everyone who contributed their time and effort in making the “weekend away” such an overwhelming success. In particular to Neil and Ros, Ian and Bronwyn for their outstanding contribution with organising and seeing that everything was attended to. These activities do not just happen and we should be extremely proud of the committee and their unheralded commitment to contributing to the successful running of events as large as these. Well done to all, Andrew Maclean
