Workshop on “Data Warehouse & Mining

Tool” was organized on 28th

February, 2015,

Ms.R.Nagapriya, Associate Project, CTS,

Chennai, gave introduction to data

warehousing and mining tools and the various

job opportunities available in this area.

A Guest lecture on “Main Frames” was held

on 7th

March, 2015. Mr.Vineeth Vishwanath,

Associate Project, CTS, Chennai, elaborated

the concepts behind Main frames and the

usage of the related tools in the industries.

WORKSHOPS / SEMINARS / GUEST LECTURES

One Day Training Programme on “Applications of

Cloud in Android Apps Development" was organized

by the department of Information Technology on 28th

March 2015 at Multimedia Lab, Bhagwan Paraswanath

Block. Mr. E.Raja Raman, event organizer gave

demonstration on how to develop Android based

Applications and discussed about the latest trends in

software development. He also discussed about the

programming languages which are used in developing

various software in IT industries.

Department of CSE / IT / MCA organized a guest lecture on "Recent Trends In Information

Technology" in association with Computer Society of India (CSI) Students chapteron 21st

Feb,

2015 at the Graduation Hall. Chief Guest Dr. R.Saravanan, Senior Professor, SITE, VIT

University, inaugurated the function and delivered the special lecture on latest trends in Information

Technology. Dr. R.Varatharajan, Principal, GTEC, presided over the function. Mr. D.Durai

kumar, Head / Department of Information Technology, delivered welcome address.

Prof.G.Illanchezhizpandian, Dean (Academics), HOD / CSE & MCA, honored the chief guest.

The department of CSE & IT organized the entire Programme. HODs of all other departments,

faculty members and students actively participated in the function.

WORKSHOPS / SEMINARS / GUEST LECTURES

“ROTARACT CLUB of GTEC”celebrated “PONGAL FESTIVAL” on January13th

2015.

Managing Trustee, Shri.N.Sugalchand Jainlighted the kuthuvillaku and Dr. R. Varatharajan,

Principal joined and wished all the faculty members and students. He also added that, as we are the

Rotaract members of GTEC, it’s our prime duty to spread our culture to the society and continue

these kinds of traditional activities.

Mr. D. Durai Kumar, HOD / Department of Information Technology & Coordinator – Rotaract

Club of GTEC organized the entire event. Media members covered the whole celebrations and it has

been telecasted in the TV channels. HOD’s from all the departments participated in this special

occasion and 48 varieties of traditions dishes were served.

“YOGA FOR YOUTH EMPOWERMENT” was organized on 12th

January, 2015 by the

“ROTARACTCLUB of GTEC”. Dr.K.Perumal Director, Vision Academics, Aliyar, gave practical

sessions on Yoga and the importance of mediation. Dr.R.Varatharajan, Principal, presided over

the function and Mr. D.Durai kumar, Head / Department of Information Technology, organized

the entire programme.

“BIO MEDICINAL PLANTATION & AWARENESS PROGRAMME” has been held on 6th

March 2015, by “ROTARACT CLUB of GTEC”. Dr.R.Varatharajan, Principal- GTEC, planted

the bio-medical plants and gave speech on the importance on planting these kinds of plants.

Mr. D.Durai kumar, Head / Department of Information Technology, organized the entire

programme to make awareness on the medicinal impact of using these plants. Merely 150 varieties of

plants have been planted and the seeds were distributed to the students.

SERVICE TO SOCIETY

“OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APENA & HUMAN CHAIN RALLY” has been organized by the

“ROTARACT CLUB of GTEC” on 13th

March, 2015. Dr.M.Manjuladevi, Consultant Psychiatrist

& Counsellor, Dr.Krishnapriya, Consultant Chest Specialist & Dr.Kumaran, Consultant ENT, Head

& Neck Surgeon, Raj Nursing Home, Vellore, Dr.D.Mageshvaran, Endoscopist, Laparascopist, IMA,

Vellore Branch, were actively participated and gave presentations & speech on Sleep Apena and

their effects. At the end of the session, Human Chain Rally by the students was held from GTEC

campus to make awareness on Sleeping Disorder. Dr.R.Varatharajan, Principal - GTEC presided

over the function and Mr. D.Durai kumar, Head / Department of Information Technology,

organized the entire programme.

SERVICE TO SOCIETY

Department of Information Technology arranged Industrial Visit for Second year, Third Year &

Final year students to encourage the students to interaction with the Industrial persons for their career

improvement. They have visited Pentamedia Graphics Limited, Chennai during 16th

Feb and 19th

Feb, 2015 and were given presentation and training on multimedia products by the indistrial experts.

Students of II & III Year Students of Information Technology have gone for Industrial Visit to Vi

Microsystems Pvt. ltd, Chennai, on 14th

March, 2015. They have been given training on

Assembling, Testing, Modeling and Microprocessor programming.
