The Electric Drive Lay Spread is the largest capacity rental system available to the offshore oil & gas and renewable industries.
Developed to provide a robust, reliable and modern technology system, it is used for single or multiple installation of flexible flowlines, risers, umbilicals, mooring wires and power cables ensuring a safe, fast and economical installation.
The system is capable of handling product installation from a multitude of offshore dynamically positioned or anchored vessels in shallow and deep water.

Electric Drive Lay Spread systemThe EDLS is operated by an automatic system and is designed in accordance to DNV and LR standards.
The system can be used for either product laying or retrieval and is operated from its control system, monitored constantly by a programmable logic controller (PLC) that guarantees reliability and excellent system performance.
The operator can drive the equipment from the main console or close to the equipment by means of a remote control unit.
The system is controlled by using an HMI screen that displays all necessary information and parameters for the operator to carry out laying/recovery operations in a controlled and safe manner.
The underlying manufacturing philosophy of the EDLS system is high redundancy. The system is designed with integrated control panels that guarantee the most effective control and surveillance of both product and equipment during operations.
Sparrows’ tensioners and INNOVO’s reel drive systems have a proven track record, demonstrating control systems that increase the reliability and efficiency of lay operations.
